it was a room
Management is lack luster

Location to JHU and surrounding neighborhood is probably the only really positive thing. Room and common areas were clean.
This property is completely mis-advertised. It is not an apartment. You are booking one of six bedrooms in what is effectively a boarding house. The ad also says that there are en-suite rooms, but I saw no evidence of this. Plan on only have access to one of two shared bathrooms. The property is also advertised as non-smoking, but there were other guests who were chain smoking in their rooms. This made the entry way, all shared areas, and ultimately my room reek of stale cigarette smoke.

Location, value
Hard to figure out how to work the upstairs shower

This is a nice room.
The description was not accurate. The listing said it’s an apartment, but it’s just a room. Shared bath and shared kitchen. It’s still nice, but it should not say it’s an apartment.
3.5
Convenient location. Close to JHU and restaurants.
Bed linen and towel need to be properly cleaned.
4.5
Good place for a short or long-term stay. it's not safe around but it's Baltimore lol. THere're two locks on the door so not bad.
THe kitchen is kind of dirty
3.5
Location good for being near JHU campus and shopping street - easy and safe to get back and forth. Felt safe with multiple locks as system for every door (including bedroom door). Definitely a low-budget option -- not for the kind of person who likes a nice hotel, but if you're the kind of person who just sleeps in a room and doesn't need anything else (and are OK with shared bathroom, and no fanciness at all), then this is a fine option.
In this case, you get what you pay for, so shared bathroom, clean but kind of oldish furniture, slightly musty smell as if somebody had smoked there at some point even though it's non-smoking now. Thin walls but quiet for sleeping at night (at least the crowd that was there when I was, on a random non-holiday weekend in January).
3.5
No breakfast. Perfect location. Clean room.
The listing is incorrect. This is is NOT an entire apartment. This is a room in an apartment with a shared bath and kitchen. Other guests partied late at night and there was a bunch of shouting at 4 am. Parking is tricky if you're not coming on the weekend. The neighborhood has a two-hour parking limit on weekdays. So if you're bringing a car, you may have to move it constantly to avoid a ticket.
The mattress was comfortable, but the sheets and pillows and towels were all very chintzy.
4.5
Easy access with clear instructions, great location for JHU visits, and good value. Room is spacious, clean, has AC and individual (code) lock.
Shower could drain better.

You get what you pay for!
Noisy student neighbors, party into to late night
3.5
Close to STSI,. and quiet. Nice residential house and easy parking in the street. Shared bathroom was clean. Basic. room but functional, and tasteful decorated. Wifi was good.
Mostly small things which were missing:
No doorknob at the inside, or a place/shelf to leave your toothbrush or towel in your room. Only one outlet sort of accessable which was hidden behind a table with both plugs used for the fridge and air conditioner.
3.5
fantastic location right next to JHU
One pillow was so lumpy it was unusable. A nice set of towels and new bed pillows would make place more comfortable.

Location
Room was utterly unclean. Cobwebs literally in every nook and corner, including between the blades of fan. Springs of the mattress were pocking in the body. Metal frame of the mattress could be felt all the time. Saw rat in the kitchen!! Hardly any utensils. Washroom was common and well maintained. Very old house but close to John's Hopkins.

the perfect spot for a weekend getaway

The location can't be beat being in the middle of Charles Village next to JHU's campus and the hospital. I have easy access to the CityLink/LocalLink bus lines and the Charm City Circulator. It's too far east to be close to the Light Rail. I also liked using the porch to relax and sit outside on the ledge at night after work or during the early mornings before I leave. The King sized bed was SO comfy and easy to maneuver in that I'm thinking about getting one for myself when I moved into my next apartment. I loved that there was storage (empty 3-drawer dresser and a full-sized closet), laundry facilities and plenty of seating areas on the first floor and the basement.
It's the perfect place to use as a base of operations when traveling just to have as a place to store your stuff or if you're like me and have to commute to Baltimore for work. I work the night schedule and can't get back home on late nights because the Marc is shut down by 10-10:30pm and the LightRail doesn't go far enough south to be useful beyond going to Glen Burnie or BWI. I live in Crofton, MD, so there's no easy way to get home from Baltimore, so I have to commute using whatever I have at my disposal.
The electronic keypad locks were a challenge on the first night to figure out after a having a long day at work. Sometimes I mix up numbers in my head like a mild form of dyscalculia (number or math dyslexia), so it took some time and patience. Thankfully, the host was very responsive and patient with me at 10-11pm at night.
I wish there were paper towels for quick clean ups/spills and a dish drying rack for washing dishes. I also wished that there were drinking glasses (not just a plethora of coffee mugs), oven mitts, and at least one cookie sheet available to easily heat up foods. Certain foods requires an oven to maintain the crispness, but I only had access to a flimsy, disposable and dirty aluminum pan that looked like it was used to catch water from a leaky faucet than to cook food in. Only had dirty, used white towel to use as makeshift oven mitt which got tricky when trying to get the flimsy pan out of the oven because it easily bent and lost its shape holding it from the middle because I didn't have two oven mitts to easily hold the pan by its edges. It was a very near thang, because I ended up dropping some of my food on the floor.

right next to JHU. Had Aircon, spacious shower and good washing machine + dryer
5.0
Nice room, easy self check-in
Mattress uncomfortable and thin curtains (the light in the morning was very bright)
3.5
Conveniently located near John's Hopkins University and in one of the safer neighbourhoods of Baltimore. Also close to public transport (both free and paid) and several good cafes and restaurants.
Air conditioning was fantastic to counter the hot, humid weather.
The common areas of the house (bathrooms, living, kitchen etc) were all extremely warm and humid, as there is no ventilation or air conditioning in these areas.
The bathrooms probably could have been cleaned more often/been better equipped.
No TV in room.

brand new inside

Nice place to stay, the owner brought a desk within a couple of hours when I asked for one. It was a smooth and overall enjoyable stay. Close to JHU, surrounded by restaurants and shops and at the same time quiet.
The house is shared by a number of tenants and there were some incivilities such as a guest leaving just outside the door to my room, his electric wheel to charge all night making a tremendous raucous.
The room being outside the kitchen also smelt of cooking at times.
Last but not least after a 20 message long exchange with the owner and booking.com I was not able to receive an invoice with the correct amount. Meaning it was a business trip and I'll have to sit on the 180 euros I spent. Not professional to say the least and certainly not respectful of the guest.
2.5
The outside environment of the House IS NOT KEPT
Dirty and unkempt external environment. No Ironing board.
5.0
The room was clean & comfortable. Got upgraded to en suite (private bath).
3.5
The room was well-cleaned and maintained. Locking and security system was really good.
Considering the price per night, I kind of expected some toiletries for use. Nevertheless, those concerns weren't primary and stay was good.
