The Fifth Causeway Souto - Space for rural tourism with License No. 140/2012.

Quinta do Souto Walk is a project of agritourism implemented in Marco de Canaveses county in Quires Vila Boa in October 2012. Right in the country setting, the farm offers the ideal opportunity for those wishing to escape the hurly burly, and enjoy a simple and integrated life in nature while enjoying all the comfort and luxury of a modern home. The wine tourism lovers will find this the ideal place to explore and participate in wine production. Old houses recovered, keeps all the romanticism of the field and invite you to a dream holiday in the rural tourism.
The farm has a vineyard of 5 hectares in full operation since about 1900, always belongs to the same family. The two cottages that served the fifth, Casa da Calçada and the House of Souto, were recovered for tourist use, enjoying currently various equipment for recreation such as pool, table football and ping pong table, and still observatory of nature. These houses are situated around the vineyard, complemented with a pine forest and a river within the farm perimeter. A panoramic path and crosses the country Thursday and joins the two houses, allowing a simple and pleasant access to the facilities shared by them, such as the threshing floor and the old eaves.
The Casa da Calçada emerged from a recovery in 2012 made the old houses existing in the fifth. The current house retains its old building, with stone walls and the inner courtyard, integrated into a modern structure for the convenience of residents. The house is set in the countryside, in quiet rural surroundings, in front of a vibrant and modern vineyard with about 5 acres and surrounded the area's own flora, such as walnut, sycamore trees, chestnut and Carvalhas.
The house and the pool can admire a great view over the vineyard and the valley to the mountains on the other side of the river.
Located in northern Portugal, the fifth is dedicated to rural tourism, wine tourism and agritourism. The visitor enjoys a relaxing holiday in an agricultural environment, where you can play the characteristics tasks of a farmhouse in full operation. You can still enjoy the prime location of the farm and its proximity to interesting cities in the north of Portugal, to make a tourist tour of the region.

The property is basically good and spacious. The pool is good for all the family although the water is a little acid so your eyes sting a bit. To improve this property it needs airconditioning in the upstairs rooms. The kitchen for so many people is inadequate - OK many people will not do much cooking but the house provides for a lot of people and even breakfasts are difficult to prepare in the small space. There is scope to improve it a lot and create some more workspace. The house is furnished with ageing Ikea style furniture but it was adequate. We liked the location, in the country but nice places to visit nearby. Like many rural properties the electricity supply is a little temperamental but was easy to reset. We found you need the power to supply the water as well. We had an unfortunate failure of both the dishwasher and fridge freezer during our stay. The owner was quick to act and find solutions for us which we appreciated. He was always helpful. In summary, a good place, a nice property but not top notch. It needs some work to upgrade as many of the fitments eg shower fitments are showing signs of age.

Our family went for 2 weeks to this farmhouse villa and had a lovely time. The swimming pool is excellent and the "games room" with table football and table tennis is a wonderful way to keep teenagers diverted. Although the house is in the country, it is also perfectly possible to go to Porto on the train (from the station at Caíde) which we did a few times. It's cheap and takes 45 mins. Recommended.

The photos do not do justice to the location & grounds of the villa. There are wonderful mountain views & with the remote location comes lot's of greenery, wildlife, birds, butterflies. The villa was clean & is well set out. Extremely spacious with plenty of bathrooms, toilets etc. The pool is fed by fresh water which is great for your hair, eyes & swimwear. It isn't too deep (probably maximum of 1.5m) There are plenty or loungers & parasols around the pool. We had 4 children in the party (ages 4-12) & despite there being no English TV they were well entertained with the pool, vineyard, table tennis, woods, picking fruit, playing hide & seek & looking for lizards. As recommended by Antonio, the owner, We had a meal at Pensao de Magalhaes in Marco de Canavezes which was good for the English & Portuguese palates amongst us. The villa is remote so get good direction or use a Satnav. Pool & bedroom towels are provided. We would recommend this place if you want to get away from everything
