I am certain that you have reviewed the listings of other units here at the Maui Banyan. Therefore, I am not going to be repetitious and tout all of the wonderful amenities that the Banyan has to offer which are common to the entire complex.
Instead, I want to provide information that I feel is relevant about MY unit, and why I feel that it is probably one of the finest units in the entire complex.
G-305, my unit, is a one bedroom and TWO BATH. Those familiar with the Maui Banyan know that the 'G' building is the most desirable as it is the closest to the beach without being on top of Kihei Rd. and the subsequent street noise. Some people who have 2 bedroom, 2 bath units do rent out a one bedroom part of their condo; however, when they split their unit and rent it out as a one bedroom you LOSE the second bath! I don't know about you; however, my wife loves it when she can have the master bath all to herself. For those of you who have children, it is a luxury to be able to enjoy the convenience and privacy of your own bathroom. Now, why my one bedroom two bathroom is so unique. Within the past year I have spent over $100,000 upgrading my unit. The final enhancement was the expansion of the lanai.
Unfortunately, the original size of the lanais of ALL the other one bedroom units at the Banyans were vastly undersized! So much so, that it was virtually impossible to have meals outside, as the width of the lanai was a mere 3 feet. The lanai's total function was to provide only standing room enjoyment. With my current lanai EXPANSION, 4 can now comfortably sit around a 36' diameter table, have a candlelight dinner while watching the sun set over your ocean view. NOW THAT IS SIGNIFICANT if you want to truly experience the utmost in ambiance.
The second improvement is the elimination of a common wall that separated the living room from the bedroom area. Instead of this wall, four beautiful Japanese sliding Shoji screens now provide privacy between these two areas. HOWEVER, when desired they all slide on their own individual tracks to make any combination of closures. Therefore, you now can make one big open area that joins the bedroom to the living room, and eliminate that boxy feel that was the original configuration, but still have all the privacy in your bedroom area as before. I am the original owner, and I wanted my 'home away from home' to be as comfortable as my home in Los Angeles. Therefore, there is not one piece of furniture that was originally provided by the builder that is still in my unit!
Unfortunately, this attitude is not shared by most of the other units that are available for rent. I am not trying to downgrade other units, however, there are differences, and the following list will inform you as to the amenities that are provided by my unit that were NOT the standard issue when these units were originally sold.
1. LOCATED IN THE G BUILDING (shortest walk to beach ...30 seconds, without being on top of Kihei Rd and its subsequent noise.
2. Located on the south side of the building giving a VIEW of the pool area, as well as a lovely OCEAN VIEW.
3. ALL NEW KITCHEN...including granite counters, new sink and fixtures, all new raised panel cabinetry, all new appliances, under cabinet dimable and recessed ceiling lighting.
4. ALL NEW FURNITURE, including an entertainment center that houses a Panasonic 42' plasma TV and DVD player. The new queen sofa bed has an upgraded $400 mattress that eliminates that annoying feel of the center bar. Just ask my 24 yr old 6'4', 215 lb. son how comfortable it is, as that is the bed he uses when he visits.
5. ALL NEW DINING ROOM FURNITURE, and a tropical ceiling fan in this area if you do not wish to use the air conditioner.
6. A desk for you to use if you brought with you some work from home, and a wonderful spot to set up your laptop, and enjoy the provided FREE WiFi connection.
7. Elimination in the bedroom of the original double bed which was replaced with a Simmons top of the line KING SIZE box spring and mattress.
8. Addition of a 26 ' CEILING MOUNTED TV IN THE BEDROOM for night time enjoyment as well as to give others the chance to view a different program from that of the plasma TV in the living room.
9. GRANITE COUNTER TOPS, new sinks and fixtures, and new raised panel cabinetry in both baths.
10. Addition of a SECOND AIR CONDITIONER AND CEILING FAN for the bedroom area.
11. EXPANSION OF THE LANAI off of the bedroom that has a 36' round table, seating for 4, as well as a reclining chaise lounge chair.
12. Extensive wall art and table pieces that make my unit feel as if you are in a beautiful island home, and NOT a boring stock hotel unit.
All of the above is true, and I can back it up by sending you a wonderful 3 minute e-mail attachment of a slide show that I made that will give you a complete idea of what I have accomplished to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible. People who have stayed in other units at the Banyan, and then have stayed in mine, repeatedly comment on the difference. That is why I rent my unit at a higher rental rate than some of the others. This may not be for everyone; however, for those of you who feel that the quality of your accommodations goes a long way towards making your Hawaiian vacation an EXCELLENT one instead of just a good one, then you will appreciate the phrase 'you get what you pay for.'

Really enjoyed the closeness to everything and enjoyed having a rental car to go explore further away places. Close to eating and grocery stores. Only a minute walk away from the beach. Make sure you put on plenty of sunscreen. Beautiful island and friendly people. Would stay here again.

Spent a week in Jack's condo. Condo was great, with amazing views from the balcony. Jack was very attentive from the minute we booked his condo. Location couldn't be better, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. Would stays at Jack's place again. Would highly recommend.

When I saw the pictures online I knew this was the place for us. Having a recliner was a big plus! The condo was equipped with anything we could need. Plenty of storage for our clothes. A place in the kitchen where we could put our food. A lot of condos fill all the cabinets and there is not place to put your food away. We love the location of Maui Banyan and G305 was a perfect place.

After I booked this vacation a few days later the Owner/Hist contacted me to advise that he forgot that the tenants on the property were given a late checkout(6:00pm instead of 3:00 pm) he advised he would compensate us but the room would not be cleaned until the next morning. The cleaning service did not do a great job. Then I found that the two window air conditioners had what appeared to have black mold spores in the vents. The air conditioners were blowing out a horrible odor which smelled like fish. I researched why it would smell of fish and the reason Found was due to bacteria and mold. Due to health issues I decided not to turn on the units because I did not want to breath black mold. Owner/ Host was contacted and advised I could not use the air conditioning because of the above stated reasons. Owner/ Host apologized but stated he did not know what to do for me, he did not offer to find other arrangements for me and my wife. Owner/ Host wanted to bring up the fact that I had gotten such a great rate and if I could find another place within the same property he would refund all of my money. Owner/Host then called me back and stated that the prices are a lot higher than what we paid and that I would never find a place for the same price. I looked on Vrbo for the same area but there was no availability. Owner/ Host did offer to refund one nights fee and the cleaning fee. I refused that offer and told him I wanted at least 2 nights fees . There is no more room to finish

We enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. From watching the whales from the balcony to relaxing in the hottub in the evening time this was the perfect stay. Most of what we needed was in the immediate area. We could nto have had a better time. I hope we will be able to return soon!!

Comfortable condo located directly above pool area with ocean view from expanded lanai. King bed was top notch. Unit could use a deep clean, paint and updating. The "DO NOT" signs all over the condo were a little excessive. Having stayed at the Banyan many times, this was the first "meh" unit we encountered for the price.

We have been to Maui many times and rented different units at the Banyan and this unit by far has been the nicest we ever stayed in. We absolutely loved staying in this condo unit. The decor was breathtaking and the unit itself was immaculate in cleanliness. The ocean-view from the balcony and the very short distance to the beach made this just that much better. There were all the amenities that you could ever need. Restaurants, grocery shopping etc were just down the street and the shops at Wailea are a 5 minute drive. Jack and Michelle helped to make this a wonderful trip and were willing to answer any questions at any time. We highly recommend this vacation home and plan to book again very soon.

We enjoyed all of our time here! The condo and building was perfect for everything we needed. Well maintained. The air conditioning units were very efficient so you don’t need to have them on all the time, plus it cools down at night. We got a chance to see other units in the building and this one is definitely one of the nicest spaces in the building. Thank you!!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Maui Banyan with our 1-Year old son. The location is a super short walk to the beach and Kihei is a great central location for day trips around the Island. We were very comfortable in the condo and it had everything we needed.

We had never been to Maui before and there were many options available but we are so pleased we chose this condo for our stay! Jack and Michelle’s condo is great! It’s just what we needed for us. The location is so convenient. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops, but also directly across from the beach! The condo inside had everything we needed and it was so comfortable to have a king size bed. Jack and Michelle were so kind to be reachable by phone/text when we had specific questions and we greatly appreciated their ability to help us. Just book this place! The view and proximity to beach alone is worth it! But the condo itself is really pretty and has everything you’ll need!

Good location especially if you don’t mind stairs as best access is stairs right at front of building. The view from lanai is super and a very nice size. Condo has lots of large furniture and Hawaiian artwork. The owner was excellent to deal with. Our thanks for the use of your condo.

We came here for my wife’s birthday and luckily picked the perfect place for our budget. As advertised you have a partial view of the ocean that you can see clearly from the patio without having a bunch of trees and buildings in your way. Sunsets are beautiful each evening and with one of the best beaches around 1 block down the driveway you’ll find yourself very spoiled. There are several places to eat and shop within walking distance from the condo. Although a bit dated the condo itself is in great shape and has everything you would expect and more from a furnished rental. Aloha.

Everything about this property was excellent. We wanted to stay in Kihei, and the location couldn't be better... it is really close to the beach and we walked to several restaurants. Grocery stores are pretty close, as well as a bunch of other restaurants (<5 min drive). It has everything we needed to stay for a week, accommodations are great (just as good if not better than the pictures)- If heading back to Maui, we will definitely stay here again-

Great experience!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Close to many things in Kihei, we were able to have so much fun, even with a high tide warning for some of the days. The property is lovely, the owner is kind and responsive, and we are sad to be leaving but happy we had such a great stay.

Maui Banyanan Beauty
I've stayed at the Maui Banyanan complex several times over the years. This is a great location to beaches and shopping. This unit is the best that I've stayed. It has high quality and comfortable furnishings and a well stocked kitchen and beach accessories. The unit is close to the elevator and pool. Sunsets can be seen from the patio. Enjoy your stay!

Awesome condo in a fantastic location!
Our family had a really great time staying in this condo on our second visit to Maui. The condo is very clean and exactly as described. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, and Jack, the owner, provided the beach items (beach chairs, towels, umbrella and cooler) needed to improve the experience. The condo location is ideal, really close to the beach and the touristic attractions in the Wailea / Kihei area. The master bed is extremely comfortable and our kids enjoyed the expandable futon in the living room. The sunset view from the lanai is outstanding and the tasteful wall art throughout the condo makes you feel very comfortable! Overall we had a great vacation here and we are looking forward to return to this condo in the near future!

First time in Maui
This condo was exactly as described. It's a wonderful condo in a great location. We walked along several beaches which are easily accessible right across the street. A variety of food trucks and restaurants are also within walking distance. Excursions for sailing, snorkeling, helicopter rides, etc. are all available within a 30 minute drive. Communication was great while making arrangements. Jack was very responsive and provided lots of advice and recommendations for planning our first trip to Maui, he also called to make sure we made it okay and didn't need anything. There are lots of folks that stay at the complex who return each year. It is a welcoming community and you are likely to strike up lots of conversation while grilling or swimming in the pool area. We had a fantastic experience and can't wait to return.

Jack was very easy to deal with. It was a clean and safe place to stay. Very comfortable bed! Convenient location. Would recommend Jack’s unit to anyone wanting to stay in the Kihei area.

Great stay
The condo was very clean and just as advertised. There was a beautiful view of the sunset from the lanai and the condo was comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. The beach was just across the street and was beautiful for swimming and relaxing. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Overall it was a great stay.

Updated and well decorated
Owner is very responsive and available. The unit has many decorative details you don’t often find in other properties. I’ve stayed in other units at the Maui banyan & this is at the top of my list. In general, I prefer this location because of the exceptional snorkeling beach, walking location to shops & restaurants and easy commute to other areas of the island.

Lovely condo in terrific location
This is a beautiful and well designed condo. It is located within a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Jack, the owner, had several items that were very helpful- two boogie boards, two beach chairs and beach towels, a beach umbrella, cooler and a few sets of snorkeling equipment. None of the masks fit us but it could be helpful since you can go snorkeling right across the street. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. but not much in the way of spices or cooking oil.
There is a long narrow balcony which is wonderful for enjoying your breakfast or having a cocktail later.
The condo received a nice breeze and we only closed the doors and turned on the ac when we went to sleep at night. The beds, pillows and linens were very comfortable.
This is a great place / location to stay, especially if you want to hike and explore as well as enjoy the water.

Perfect in every way
We had the pleasure of staying here for our first trip to Maui in June 2021 for 8 days. Condo was exactly as pictured and totally immaculate. Lots of care and love went into remodeling this property ( you can see the many upgrades the owners put into this place). Directly across the street from the best beach we found on the island! There were actually turtles all around swimming with us, so awesome! The condo had everything you could ask for and was situated right in the heart of Kihei, close to everything. Don’t pass up this gem, it’s worth it! :)

Kihei is the Best!
We absolutely loved this condo! It was perfect for our stay and had everything we needed. So nice to have the beach chairs, umbrella, towels, snorkel gear, and boogie boards to be able to use. The condo was very clean and had a beautiful Maui vibe. The pool was really close and was cleaned daily. Easy walk down to Kam 2 beach, which was amazing. The Kamaole beaches were our favorite of all we visited. They were all beautiful and not very busy. Jack was so easy to work with and communication about our stay was tremendous. Seriously, EVERYTHING about this place was perfect for us. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in staying here!
