Probably the oldest cottage I've ever stayed in. Lots of original features. Quiet and well equipped. Made a great base for us to get out and explore the local area.

Lovely cottage, could do with a good clean in places and decobwebbing. The dining room did smell a bit doggy on arrival. The creakiest floor boards upstairs. But very characterful. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Oddwell cottage was beautiful in amazing countryside. Quite a lot of the kitchenware and soft furnishings were removed for the current guidance, which we felt was a shame but understood the reasons. I think more soap and cleaning items could have been supplied for us to keep up with the cleaning during our week. Also was disappointed to find no hairdryer in the property! Other than those little issues we had a lovely week at Oddwell x Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Very beautiful old cottage.
Very beautiful old cottage.
Very beautiful old cottage. Picturesque, quiet. A look under the bed revealed cleanliness wasnt the best. This cottage is in the middle of no where. The coast is only nine miles but its nine miles of single track roads with high hedges so that nine miles takes longer than normal. Bonus tesco.delivery found us no problem. Beautiful cottage and garden, if the weather had been with us it would have been idyllic Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely holiday at Oddwell Cottage, it was plenty big enough for 2 adults, 2 teenagers a 9yr old and a dog. The character cottage was lovely clean and welcoming. The low door frames did leave a lasting impression on our sons head and the floor boards upstairs were very creaky but with all the fresh air everyone slept soundly. Even with some equipment being removed because of covid it had everything we needed. We liked the fact that the garden was dog proof and there was some lovely walks from the cottage. The housekeeper lives next door and were very helpful when our son locked us out!!! they also gave us lots of good tips on where to go which was much appreciated. We had some wonderful walks over cheddar gorge, Porlock Weir and Dunster, we would recommend hiring bikes to go exploring (electric!!) and we had a great time sea kayaking at Minehead. Dunster Castle was beautiful. Getting to places early meant we avoided crowds and was able to keep our distance from others. We were rather disappointed with Wookey Hole as although we had booked a time slot there didn't seem to be any control on numbers and it was very busy. We will definitely book this cottage again. First class early 16th century cottage in a rural hamlet, yet conveniently located for the coast (eg Watchet, Blue Anchor, Minehead, Porlock), Exmoor, and Interesting towns and villages (eg Dunster). It’s like a Landmark Trust property, but with WiFi and TV - and less expensive. The historic features are fascinating and added to our enjoyment. We didn’t find the stone staircase difficult to negotiate, and the W.C. at the top of the staircase has robust grab handles immediately outside for safe night-time visits. We used the spacious double bedroom, which had a comfortable bed. The dining room was fabulous, and the leather sofas in the sitting room were especially comfortable. Despite reduced equipment because of the current pandemic, we had more than enough for our needs (and we dined out only once). We certainly didn’t want for any items. Our dog thoroughly appreciated the securely enclosed garden, and the under-floor heating in the kitchen (also in the bathroom = glorious!). He slept happily in the kitchen and barely wanted to stir in the morning because of the luxurious warmth. A morning walk up to and around the church was ideal as a starter, although there is no shortage of fantastic walks in the area. The beaches at Blue Anchor and Porlock were fabulous for dogs, as was Dunkery Hill on Exmoor. Virtually everywhere we went had good parking and sufficient places to have coffee, snacks etc. The village shop/PO (open four mornings weekly) is very good, stocking dairy produce, fruit, vegetables, salad items, dry goods etc. We went to Bishop’s Lydeard for other supplies, although Wiveliscombe was also an option. The caretakers are absolute treasures. Not only was Oddwell Cottage spotless and beautifully presented, but they were entirely unobtrusive. Had we needed them for anything, they would have been easy to contact - but we had everything we needed, and nothing went wrong ... until my husband left his hat behind. We were contacted shortly after our departure (before we had noticed the loss) to let us know it would be sent in the post - excellent service. We would not hesitate to return, nor to recommend it highly. A car is well-nigh essential, but if you want a very comfortable - and historic - cottage within easy driving distance of coast and countryside, Oddwell Cottage is the place. A quirky well equipped cottage.
A quirky well equipped cottage.
A quirky well equipped cottage. Just about everything you would need in the kitchen. Was worried about storage heaters but they worked fine and the cottage was warm, the log burner was lovely with a starter pack to get you going but you would need to bring or buy more more logs/kindling for anymore than one night. Lots of board games available.
