Less Than Thrilled
Less Than Thrilled
I had high hopes for this place that were continually dashed over the six nights we stayed here. First of all, we couldn't get into the apt. due to a deadbolt being thrown on the back door where we were supposed to enter due to repairs to the front door; I did manage to get in the front door which was problematic & sticking, but there were no second set of door keys as promised; the extra bed provided in the living room was not what was pictured in the original listing: it had a very bad sofa bed instead of the modular sofa set originally shown that would have been much more comfortable; it was a huge apt. complex that had only three washers & dryers a half-block away with long wait times; this is a basement apt. but it had only 6 foot doorways, which I was continually smacking my head on; there were a couple of mornings where it was down to 40 degrees but there was no heat in the apt--when I queried the manager, she told me that the complex does not turn the heat on until mid-late Oct. so she should have had space heaters already there for our convenience; property manager was good about responding to my complaints, but I think she wasn't always telling us the truth: she claimed that the sofabed was new but it was dirty and had holes in the upholstery, she sent a repairman over whom she assured had been with them a long time & was totally trustworthy, but he stated he had just started working for them, he did attempt to fix the bad sofabed, but to no avail, & there was also a broken chair which he managed to shore up with a piece of wood & he brought us a second set of keys. The location was fabulous and the price was somewhat reasonable but I think we could have done much better for a similar price with nicer furnishings. I would NOT stay there again, and I'm sure, after this review, that I would not be invited back...

Great Getaway!
Great Getaway!
Overall, we had a great stay in Brookline and it was the perfect jumping off point for our trip to the Northeast! The unit is about a 10-15min walk to the closest T station which wasn’t too bad and it was very clean! Checking in was a breeze, and communicating with the host was easy and painless. One thing, the unit is a basement unit with low ceilings, which isn’t super apparent from the photos. It wasn’t a problem for us, but if you're over 6ft it might present a challenge. Overall, we would definitely stay again!

We absolutely loved our stay in Brookline. Close and convenient to the D Green Line (I had no idea what that meant three days ago, but I became a pro within hours, and I had zero previous subway experience), quick access in and out of Boston, and an extremely safe family neighborhood. Lots of parks and children outside playing. We walked around as late as 10pm after delicious dining, and we felt completely safe. We walked to neighborhoods that had more dining options, and it was a 15 minute walk. As for the space itself, it needed improvement. It is a basement unit, and the ceilings are LOW. I am 511, and I actually had to duck down when walking into the bedroom and kitchen. I did hit my head on the doorway once when I wasnt paying attention. The lock to the bedroom had a funky stick to it, and it took a couple of days to master it and ensure it was locked. That was annoying; I want to know it was locked behind me the first time, not after 20 tries, and the manual could have mentioned that the door needs to be pulled toward you when locking from the outside and away from you when locking from the inside. The bed was comfortable, the TV had numerous viewing options, and the guide they had out was helpful. The lighting was poor; there wasnt a light to turn on when entering the front door, and as soon as you closed it, it was pitch black. We had to turn on each individual light to illuminate the TV room and see anything. Keep in mind, it was summer, and it gets light at 5am and dark after 9pm. The bathroom was really old, dated, and worn. It had SEVERE cracks in the tiles, and overall felt unclean. Our experience was good because we loved the neighborhood, the management team communicated well and often, I liked the locked and secured main entrance, and were in the space minimally. But since this is a review of the space, there needs to be better warning in the description about the ceiling height, honest photos of the condition of the bathroom, and a light switch upon entry to the unit.

We enjoyed our 10 night stay in Brookline in this roomy apartment. Well supplied and walking distance to Jamaica Pond as well as a green belt. Not far from downtown and also close to Boston.
