About this house rental
This custom 3 bedroom/3 bath home was completed April 2016 and is located on the east end of Dauphin Island in the gated Desoto Landing community. The house is well appointed and is in very close proximity to the neighborhood pool, tennis courts, and boardwalk to a white sandy beach. We are situated at the end of a cul-de sac with a serene view of a natural dune out of a large, 400 square foot screened in porch – perfect for getting away to enjoy some quiet time or gathering with family and friends. The front deck is an equally peaceful retreat and there is large amount of space underneath the house including a storage room with lots of beach supplies.
Inside, the house features a spacious open floor plan. The fully stocked extra large kitchen opens into the dining and living room area with plenty of space for cooking, eating, and entertainment. The living room includes a leather reclining sofa and 60” Television, board games, etc. The large Master bedroom has an open view through French doors to the dune, spacious master bathroom with separate tub and shower, and king size bed. The other bedrooms include a queen size bed in one and twin beds in the other, both with their own full bathrooms. TV’s are included in all bedrooms fed by dish satellite. A large laundry room with washer, dryer, and lots of counter space comes in handy for those long stays. Cable Internet service/wifi is provided.
Dauphin Island is a great place for a laid back, family friendly vacation. No high rises and no stop lights! Enjoy long walks or doing nothing on the expansive local beach or take a short drive to the West End or East end beaches. Get some exercise or take in the scenes along 7 miles of bike paths. Rent a bike or kayak. Walk the trails in the bird sanctuary and explore Fort Gaines and the Estuarium. Bring your fishing gear or schedule a trip on a charter boat. Enjoy the casual atmosphere in locally owned restaurants or enjoy preparing your favorite meals in our large, well equipped kitchen.
If you want to venture out further, take the Ferry to Fort Morgan and explore the eastern shore beaches. The city of Mobile is a 45 minute drive, Biloxi 90 minutes, and New Orleans 2.5 hours with no shortage of things to do.
This is our personal beach get away and our hope is that many families and friends will create some memories here as if it were their own.

My family and I have been coming to Dauphin Island for a little over a decade now. Up to this point all of our vacations have been spent on the west end with beachfront access. At first, we were leery about the change, but as soon as we arrived to the gated community, we knew instantly we had made an awesome decision! Magnolia Court is the street where this home is located at and it is the street closest to the tennis courts, the swimming pool, and the boardwalk that takes you directly to the ocean. Hardly anyone was ever on the beach for the entire week. Very secluded & private! The house was perfect! As I stated earlier… We’ve stayed in a lot of homes and by far this was the cleanest home we’ve ever stayed in. We made a decision when we left that we will continue to try and book this house in the future every time we come to the island. My advice … book it now if you have already done so! :-)

Gorgeous house, looks just like the pictures. Beautiful decor, the owners have put a lot of time and thought into making this feel like home. Great location to the pool and beach with just a short walk. House has plenty of kitchen necessities for suppers in. We ate most of our meals there and enjoyed the screened in porch for evening conversations. Plenty of room to spread out and not feel on top of one another. Nice quite neighborhood. Any questions or issues were handled promptly by the owners and checkin was easy. If we come back to this area, would definitely stay here again. Thank you Pat and Kurt for sharing your home with us.

The house and location were wonderful with kids. Walking distance to the beach and the pool!

This house is a perfect place for a family/group of 5-6 people of all ages. It is located on the street in front of the main boardwalk to the beach, which is a plus. The house was VERY clean with all of the amenities. The booking and communication with the owners was hands down the best we have ever booked with!!! We have stayed at Dauphin Island 5 times and this will definitely be our 1st choice for our future visits. Bedrooms, plenty of towels, excellent restrooms/showers for every room, the large kitchen island was great, and the water/ice maker is probably one of the most overlooked “luxury” items when vacationing! Large charcoal grill was also a plus!

We loved the home and enjoyed the dunes in the backyard. Great location with a short walk to a beautiful beach. We'll definitely stay at this house again in the future. It's nicely decorated and well equipped. Pat was wonderful to work with and responded quickly to questions.

There is a screened in deck on the back and a deck/porch next to the front entrance. That meant we found a spot in the sun at most times. Behind the back deck is a dune which provides some privacy when sitting there.
The inside is spacious and there are plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. We were 6 adults and didn't feel cramped and ate all our meals there.
This is our second time renting this house and we'd do it again if the opportunity arises to stay on Dauphin Island.

This was our second stay at this property and we would absolutely return for a third round. The house is perfect for our group of five-it is super clean and well stocked. The owner communicates regularly and is very accommodating.
We love everything about it!

There’s too much to say about how awesome this house is. It provided plenty of space for our group of 6 adults and a baby to spread out and not feel on top of each other. The bedrooms were all comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was large and had everything you could need to prepare food and drinks. The living room area and couches were very comfortable. We were very impressed with bonus areas like the laundry room, the front and back porches, and the sitting area under the house. The storage room under the house is well stocked with everything your family could need for the beach and pool. It was a very short walk to the beach and pool, the beach was hardly crowded the week we were there. Communication with the owners was great, Pat even provided updates for us when we lost power for a short time one morning. This house checks all the boxes you could want for a beach vacation rental, my family agrees it was the best we have all stayed in. I would highly recommend booking this spot for a stay on Dauphin Island.

We had an awesome stay at this beautiful vacation rental. We had lots of fun at the beach with the easy boardwalk access. We made great B’fasts, grilled out and played corn hole and had a family board game night. Everyone had space to separate and to come together and we had 6 adults and two babies under one. Great porch and back deck. Pat (the host) is very responsive and helpful! I highly recommend.

The pictures don't do justice to this spacious, beautifully appointed home. It was easily the prettiest home we have ever rented, and we have been coming to the Gulf Coast for more than 25 years. Everything was spotlessly clean and there were numerous touches that helped us feel welcome and extremely comfortable. It was a breeze to walk to the pool, boardwalk, and beach, and having all of the extra storage and beach cart the owners provided made our daily beach visits even more pleasurable. There was a ton of parking space under the house, and the outdoor patio area, complete with party lights and cornhole, was a welcoming spot. We loved the huge screened-in porch and never needed the large portable fan the owners set aside for it. The kitchen was perfectly appointed and had tons of space for a family of five. The bedrooms were equally spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms and hallway were sizeable. I appreciated the laundry room and had more space in it than the one I have in my own house! We will definitely come back to this lovely spot and really appreciated everything about it.
We recommend taking the Ft. Morgan ferry to see the Civil War-era fort area, and my parents said that Ft. Gaines on Dauphin Island was really educational and an enjoyable experience. The Estuarium eas closed for renovations, or we would have visited it as well. I am a runner, so the neighborhoods around DeSoto Landing were perfect for my afternoon exercise.

This was our first stay at Dauphin and won't be the last. The house was perfect for our family of 5. 3 bathrooms, beds for everyone, space to spread out inside, space to play outside, and a very short walk to the pool and beach. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is on a cul-de-sac so no traffic while the kids were outside. Fully stocked inside with a closet of beach toys downstairs Communication with the owners was great too. I wouldn't hesitate to book again!

As a family of five who rents 2-3 properties a year, we’ve seen the good and the bad (and the ugly). Honestly, this was the best of the best. New to DI, we didn’t care about east vs west end. But our decision for this east-end house was perfect for us: more topography, sage and heathered dunes with intermittent pines, and the sanctuary and sea lab right around the corner.
From the moment we walked in the door to the reluctant goodbye, we found nothing amiss. Everything you’d need in a house for a week was in a logical place, in working order, and clean.
With three teens we especially appreciated:
- the proximity to the pool and beach
- the backyard dunes for exploring
- the front bedrooms with their own full baths, isolated from the living room and master bedroom
- a large kitchen for us all to prep and cook
If I could change anything - it would not be anything about the house. The gated neighborhood has a lot of construction, so there is a low murmur of ladders and pneumatic spray guns and wood saws. But that’s just a bit during the day, and chances are you’ll be out of the house anyhow.
Certainly on our list of “places we’d return to” … and one day maybe we will!

Good communication from owners. Easy check in and check out. Comfortable. Easy walk to beach. Good amenities. Two new homes being constructed nearby, one almost done, one just started but neighborhood was still very quiet.
For grandchildren we wish the outdoor community pool was heated.

This was our fourth visit to Dauphin Island but first to this property. The rental was exceptionally clean and well organized and had everything we needed and more. Rental was a short walk to the beach and included a pool. We loved the screened in back deck and had lots of space for our family to spread out. We’d definitely use again when in the area. It’s our favorite place we’ve rented from!

This a beautiful home at the end of a very quiet street. Just a short walk to the beach and pool. Kitchen and living room all open can watch TV while cooking meals. Tons of countertop for unpacking groceries or putting all your kids snacks out. Rocking chairs on the front porch great for drinking coffee in the morning. Definitely will be booking this house in the future. Pat was quick to respond to any questions we had. Thanks again for sharing your home.

So the first thing is that we lucked out on the weather. The forecast was calling for rain every day and it rained once while the sun was up. The pictures of the house on the VRBO site do not do it justice. My family has stayed in several houses on DI and this was the best one. It is extremely open, well built, and comfortable. The walk to the beach was a piece of cake, especially with the new boardwalk and the provided wagon. Loads of storage in the kitchen, bedrooms, and under the house for beach gear so bring what you want, if you're in to overpacking. We love this island, and we love this home. Thank you, Pat and Kurt for such and perfect place to relax.

Wonderful Beach Vacation!
First of all, the house is beautiful! So clean and cozy! It took us 3 minutes to walk to the beach. And the private beach is beautiful. Perfect for walks, fishing and relaxing on the beach. The Island has so much to offer! Fort Gaines was a must see! We didn’t get to see everything that we wanted to. Would definitely come back!

Great House, Awesome Owner
We’ve stayed at multiple houses on Dauphin Island, in Desoto Landing and this was by far our favorite! The house was in great condition and was very clean. It had all the basics we needed plus many things that made our time at the beach easy. They have many different beach toys and chairs to use and a cart that made it handy to get to the beach. Each time we reached out to the owner Pat, she got back to us quickly and was a ton of help. We will definitely stay at this house again.

Great home, great neighborhood!
Wonderful home in a very private community with an easy walk to the beach, pool, or tennis court. Loved the back screened porch to watch and listen to the birds.

We will be planning a trip to come back!
This home is gorgeous, spacious, and has all of the necessary amenities to make for a very comfortable stay. The hosts are amazing and you can tell they put a lot of thought and care into every aspect of this home. It is beautifully decorated and within walking distance of the beach. The screened in back porch was perfect for sipping coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. The home has everything you need if you enjoy cooking, which our household does (and I would recommend for future visits as there are not a ton of restaurants on the island). Highly recommend this property and we hope to be back next year (maybe when it's slightly warmer out).

A relaxing stay
We walked a lot on the beaches and enjoyed the quiet location of the house. The house is in very good shape, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed to cook all our meals. The family/dining/living room in the house was easily large enough for some of us to puzzle on the big table and others having a discussion around the coffee table. Finding a bit of solitude to read on the deck or in one of the spacious bedrooms was just as easy.

Perfect in every way
My husband and I were looking for a place to relax and we hit the jackpot!EVERYTHING about this stay was fabulous. There was everything that we needed AND items that we didn't know that we needed. We did not understand why there were flashlights in the house, but we understood when we saw families looking for crabs in the dark on the beach. Communictaion with the owners was terrific, they even took their time to contact us to make sure that we got in ok on our first day. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Beautiful home; great location
The house is beautiful and the kitchen is well equipped. No complaints. The WiFi is slow, but we were their to enjoy the beach and to disconnect for a while. The owners were very helpful. They have beach chairs and umbrellas, tennis rackets, and a corn hole game.

Great family getaway!
We had a fabulous time at this home in Dauphin Island! The gated community had wonderful amenities and our family took full advantage of all it offered…pool, private beach & tennis courts. The home was comfortable, clean, beautiful and had everything we needed for our vacation and a day at the beach. The board games were very welcome on a rainy day and the kids loved playing in the sand dunes behind the house. Communication with the homeowner was excellent and they were very helpful in providing information about the home & island! We hope to visit again!

Absolutely loved this property. The location is incredible. Very short walk to pool/beach/tennis
We have such an amazing time. The property is incredible. You are in a gated community. This property in particular is very close to the beach/pool access. The owners were amazing to work with. We will be returning next year. Thanks for having us!!

My husband and I were eager for a vacation with our 5yo twins. Both vaccinated, we felt comfortable driving somewhere but prepared to mask up in public. I searched for a space on a beach, with a pool, and in an area sans high-rises and crowds. We’d never been to AL but this home and DI seemed to fit the bill so we went for it - and so glad we did! The owners were very responsive and communicated well! When we arrived, we were very pleased about the house itself and location. First, the house has a great set up: all 3 bedrooms connect to a large common area with kitchen and LR. It’s very spacious and comfortable and plenty big for the four of us. The back screened-in deck faces a sand dune (vs house) so it felt very private. The front porch is smaller but provided a great breeze while watching our twins ride their bikes in the driveway, under the house and in cul-de-sac. (Having this room to romp outside was key!)After seeing the map, I knew the house was RIGHT by the beach but I didn’t realize how close it was. From the house you walk down a short block and right into the area with tennis court and decently-sized pool. It felt clean and although there were a lot of families in and out, we were often the only family there or only shared it with 1-3 other families. Right past the pool is a short walk to the beach. (door to door — 4 min walk to pool, 6 min to beach) **A restroom in the pool area was clutch considering 5yo bladder sizes**The beach was great. Not super deep at high tide but plenty of space at all times. We saw the same families from the complex at the beach and the kids enjoyed playing with a few of the same kids at the beach and in the pool all week.To break up our perpetual time in the sun, we did the following: *Ferry to Ft Morgan - explored then drove thru Gulf Shores to THE TRACK for go-karts *Skate park for “shredding” and playground *Biked in neighborhood *Bird Sanctuary and estuarium *Mini golfNOTE: As of 5/21/21, we were typically the only masked folks around. Never got hassled about it but we were noticeably the minority. Also, there are not a lot of dining options on DI (esp for a mostly vegetarian family!) Prepare to stop at grocery north of DI or bring food to prepare most meals at home.) Also - I’d say you come to DI to chill vs adventure. It’s a slower vibe — but great if you’re looking just to relax!Thank you to the hosts for letting us stay in your home!
