Wonderful stay

Location is perfect, super clean, delicious breakfast and super super friendly and attentive staff. We stayed a night extra.

Wifi in the room needs a boost. It's slow.

Very good and central option in Bacalar

Very nice little hotel about 5min from the central square of Bacalar. Friendly staff, very good breakfast, parking on the property and less than two minutes to the lagoon

Maria Maria hotel added to our wonderful experience in Bacalar. Highly recommend!

Everything about Maria Maria was lovely! Very quaint, and clean. Nice size room with comfortable beds. The hotel was located within walking distance of the lagoon, restaurants and main street shops and park. Geogina and the staff made our staff very pleasant. She and her staff were friendly and attentive. The included breakfast was delicious, and was a full breakfast, including fruit, omelette, avocado toast, served from a menu with several choices. I highly recommend this hotel, for a budget friendly, comfortable hotel. I will stay there on a return visit to Bacalar.

No fault of the hotel but a power grid went out later in the evening. Didn't impact us much. As we were in for the night and it was lights out time anyway.

Close to beach and centre

The man at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel has a perfect location, 3 minutes away from the public beach and city centre (on foot). The room itself was spacious and always cleaned. Also there is a large balcony. A water refilling station is available as well. The breakfast is okay for the price (we got a bowl of fruits with granola and yogurt; a slice of toast with butter and jam; and scrambled eggs with avocado/hash brown).

The front of the room to the balcony is one huge wooden door/wall that has slides that can be locked close, so that no light and mosquitos come through. However, due to it not being entirely shut, hot air comes in / cold air goes out rather quickly. We had to keep on the AC throughout the whole night. Since it was raining heavily on the first day, we had one medium-sized cockroach in the bathroom. This can be avoided by covering the shower drain (incidentally the cup for the toilet brush has the perfect size to cover the drain). This only happened once, during the first night. Overall, it was very clean and looked after hotel!

Perfect place to stay in Bacalar

Great location near to the lagoon and an easy walk into town. Very clean and comfortable and a great balcony area where you can see the colours of the lagoon. Amazing breakfast, off street parking and drinking water on site all included. They also arranged a great sailing trip on the lagoon.

Comfertable stay

The location was great, nice and quiet but close to the centre. The reception staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. We loved having the little balcony to enjoy the view. There was free bottled water available for all guests which was great.

Having breakfast was a challenge as non of the staff spoke English and there wasn’t much choice (or we just didn’t understand).

Super clean hotel, good breakfast included, friendly staff. Nice big room, big bathroom and large bed. Large terrace with good size table and chairs. Beds have crispy clean sheets and the room is properly cleaned daily. Beautiful interior and materials used. Very relaxing atmosphere. I have to add that upon arrival, we upgraded our room from a standard queen room to a double room with balcony as we liked this better (bigger room, more privacy, bigger bed and terrace - everything else was the same). 2 minutes walk to the lagoon and 5-10 minutes to the central square. Quiet location.

marginal fair market value-better property choices in bacalar

clean modern, newish, good breakfast, large bottle water station, close enough to town square.

stairs, no baggage assist, difficult walkways to rooms, no windows in our upper room/ you’ll much prefer spacious lower level, difficulty communicating w Spanish speaking front desk. Louver on doors didn’t close properly causing AC to run often.

It’s very close to everything. walk distance. staff were very helpful they rent visits for us without any charge. We will stay another time.

Nice stay in this peaceful and well located hotel! The breakfast is really good

The location close to the lagoon and to the main square, delicious breakfast, friendly staff, quiet environment, good wifi, clean room

-a chair and a mini fridge inside the room would have been appreciated (there is a big one outside the room to be shared with other guests) -a plug next to the tea kettle would be nice. Currently you have to put in on your night table. -no hot water in the bathroom (only warm)

We loved our stay - the room was incredibly comfortable and everyone who worked there was very friendly. Also, its located one block away from the Lagoon and the breakfast was delicious! Plus it was useful having a fridge.

Perfect for visiting Bacalar

At the arrival we have been greeted by Pepe, the lovely cat living at the hotel - such a cutie! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The language was sometimes a barrier but nothing we couldn’t overcome with Google translate ;) We have been helped with all our requests, especially the laundry service. Parking spot at the entrance was always available. Location is also perfect since it’s a short walking distance from the center and lagoon.

Breakfast is a bit limited: eggs, toasted bread, fruits with yogurt and granola. Juice, tea and coffee.

A great stay for a great price!

Hotel Maria Maria was an excellent place to stay in Bacalar. Compared to other higher or similar rated places it was less expensive, but offered similar levels of comfort. The breakfast was good and sufficient for a morning full of activities. The hotel helped us by arranging a boat tour and the waiter from the coffee shop brought us to the meeting point with his own car. That was something really appreciated. The hotel had a parking in front of the building.

The walls and door weren't soundproof. You could hear everything happening in the shared areas of the hotel. Maybe if your room isn't the first one in the hallway this would be less of an issue. We recommend changing the lightbulbs for some new bulbs that have less of a hospital feeling.

Perfect and heartwarming Place in Bacalar!

Very very welcome and friendly!!! The Owner and the whole Team are super friendly. They made us a vegan breakfast every morning and during the day there is an lovely coffeeshop with very good coffee! The Hotel and the room are very clean, no dirt, no animals (no moscito!) and every day cleaned! Its very close to the water, where you can rent a boad. And if you are very lucky, you see maybe the neighbors monkey ;) And of course the gorgeous Cat Pepe!

The only Point, that there are a lot of birds singing loudly in the Morning. But we like it 😊

Great location, friendly staff

The hotel has a great location and was great to have both AC and a fan. The man on reception was SO helpful with all our requests and we appreciated his kind manner. It was great to have filtered water easily accessible at all times. Also great to have a deadbolt on the door which we haven’t found in many places in Mexico.

The safe did not work properly. We were given a key but it hardly fit and we did not feel safe leaving our valuables in it. Reception were not able to do much about it.
