I do not usually like to do bad reviews but feel I need to let other renters know what to expect. We were not given the actual address so had to wait for Joe to contact us and give us the directions. We arrived at 3:30 and yet venue was not ready. The following are some of the main problems that we encountered during our stay: 1. Wrong information in advertisement; ie. Not enough beds as ad said sleeps 15 so one would assume there are cots or mattresses and bedding to accommodate 15. 2. There were not enough pillows for the beds provided. 3. Bedding was stained. 4. Not enough towels for everyone. 5. No dish towels were provided. 6. No hand soap, dishwasher soap or garbage bags. These were provided when requested but should have been in place. 7. Toilet paper placed in the bathrooms had mold growing on it and looked like it had been contaminated by flood. We did find clean TP in the closet. 8. Hot tub was very dirty and unhygienic to use. Since we had cooler weather, this was a big disappointment. 9. Dishes were not clean so we had to wash before use. 10. Not enough cutlery. We were 13. 11. The barbeque was very dirty and had rusty and disintegrated grates. We found some grates in another barbeque, so used them instead but they too needed cleaning. 12. There was mold in the garbage cans. 13. The electric stove was very dirty. 14. The bathroom drain did not work taking all night to drain the water and making it unusable. 15. There was no broom and dustpan to sweep the floors that we could find at first but found one later hidden from sight in the laundry room. 16. The water softener was running at night making a loud squealing noise that kept guests awake. Surely this could be set for daytime flush. 17. The electrical sockets stuck out of the wall downstairs in the single beds area where the kids slept, making this dangerous and unsafe especially for children. We put them back into place to ensure safety.

Horrendous experience.. Twice... And I am a very laid-back person.. Host double booked us the first time, an issue that would have been avoided if he had taken 30 seconds to communicate through the app, via cell, or whatever. He couldn't seem to be bothered, so we drove out and showed up at the same time as the other group... As the others were set to stay longer, we agreed to leave when Joe tried to make up by offering us dinner and a rebook for the same time the following year... Next year rolls around.. and throughout the year, I had reached out to ensure things were still good to go.. after barely any communication other than one 'yeah ill get the info to you', we just assumed we had been ghosted.. and finally decided just to forget it. Not worth having our inlaws drive 4 hours out on a 'maybe he kept his word'??... Definitely not worth all the money, time, or embarrassment while trying to do something nice for my inlaws. Even with the 'im sorry' (albeit lackluster) dinner at his restaurant, I still feel that profound lessons in customer service need to be met before anyone should be booking here. Have to give all 1 stars as we literally can't give anything else...

The owner was very friendly and accommodating, but overall, my party and I found the listing for this property misleading. We would not describe it as “luxury”, and some details were not divulged that I was surprised to not find mentioned in any of the other reviews. If these details were included in the listing, I would be giving this a higher rating; the property is definitely not bad, just not adequately described. The property is located on a split lot which the owner also occupies in a separate home closest to the water, so visitors are lacking any modicum of privacy they might hope to find during a cottage getaway — which is surprising since the word “private” is used in the property description. The owner had a lot of visitors coming and going for the week we were there and would often be using the dock when we weren’t; considering the premium price, you wouldn’t expect to have to share amenities. We actually had one of the life jackets we brought with us go missing during our stay. The owner was apologetic and offered to compensate us, but it’s still not something you expect to happen during a vacation. Secondly, the cottage is located on a lagoon, not a lake. We still made the best of it and were able to wade a few feet in, but expect a lot of sludge and murkiness. Lastly, the finishings inside were pretty sloppily installed and felt unfinished. Some rooms had doorframes missing, the newly-installed dishwasher was ill-fitting and falling out of it’s place every time we opened it, the vents in the bedrooms didn’t seem to be installed properly which lead to some extremely stuffy nights, and even though the listing claims it sleeps 15, there are just 3 bedrooms on the main floor and a couple of beds in the basement. This was fine as there were only 4 of us, but it's worth mentioning that the listing was inaccurate. We also did not have access to the washing machine during our stay as it was broken, which we weren’t prepared for. Overall, if some these details had been included in the listing or had been reflected in the pricing, this would be a much more positive review. We did have a nice vacation; we enjoyed the sandy beach, fishing off the dock and sitting by the fire pit in the evenings, but in the end we didn't necessarily get what we paid for.

Very nice property. Had a bit of a problem getting responses to questions prior to our stay. However while we were at the property Joe responded immediately to any questions or issues needing attention. He made sure we had everything we needed. Nice sandy beach area in front of the house, but unable to swim due to mushy bottom of the lake. However the beaches 5 minutes away were great! We were able to boat from the dock in front of the house. Four bedrooms with queen beds, The two twin beds and mattresses on the floor were in the open area at the bottom of the basement steps. Was nice to have laundry facilities available.
