Location is perfect. At some point we had the beach for ourself, it is ecofriendly so the hotel is not a resort, Catalina (manager) is great, very sweet and can accommodate to your needs. She helped me a lot when I had payment issues with my banking cards giving me solutions and with my transportation so I don’t miss my flight.
Location, ecofriendly, staff, you could see crabs, butterflies, small lizards, birds, and hear the Mono Aullador.

This place is magic. It is completely cut off from any kind of road or path network which means that you have to get there by boat and, thus, the only people you encounter are other guests and staff. The accomodation is comfortable and has a huge bed with a moskito net. Everything was clean and worked as intended. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The place itself is spectacular with a private beach with beds and cushions to sit or lie down on, a small reef where you can snorkel, and a path into the woods where you can observe birds and, if you are lucky, monkeys. The kitchen team also knows what they are doing as all the meals we had were really good.
It's a bit pricy. But that is totally understandable since everything needs to be brought in by boat and there's a lot of staff looking after your well-being and keeping the place clean.

Outstanding location. The people working there are very nice. Cata is the most welcoming person on earth. She is so nice.
A little bit expensive for the comfort of an ecolodge. The cook is good but the price of food and beverages is quite high. And there is no alternative choice.

EVERYTHING
Loved it all, I understand how some people might find it uncomfortable and dangerous to get to but we did love the experience

The location is simply a paradise. Lodges directly on your private beach with palmtrees and hammocks. Staff is super friendly and create that genuine holiday relaxing atmosphere
The only way to reach the location is by a 1 hour boat trip from Taganga. We had a private boat for 4 people being arranged by the location, but we were quite surprised by the cost: 1.100.000 pesos (€ 275) for a the return trip for 4 in our view is hugely over priced.

Alejandro el maestro del bar is amazing. I would definitely recommend staying at Wachakita if you want to experience a peaceful and calm environment to just relax and calm down and find some peace as well as exceptional mojitos, pure nature, a picturesque beach and a place to dive into a deep enjoyable state of mind.

We loved the location and Cata was so friendly and helpful! She really wanted to give us the best experience. We loved the beach, the hiking with all the animals and that it was so quiet.
Be prepared that you gonna stay in the middle of a National park with all its animals. Also the boat trip was rough but not as bad as some other reviews say. Make sure you have a rain cover for your stuff though.

Paradise! Great staff and food. Enjoyed every second.Thank you Katherina and team!! 🙏
The only thing they should change is to offer filtered water. You can only get water buying plastic bottled water. You cannot refill. There are two hiking trails, we tried one, with our 8 year old, but it wasn’t very well maintained. We ended up going back. A few other guests had the same impression of the other trail. The beach and snorkeling is what’s special there! And prepare for the roller-coaster boat-ride. You either love it or hate it!

The staff is amazing! The Ecohabs are amazing. The food is wonderful. I loved every bit of my stay!
Special shoutout to Cata, who is just amazing in so many ways! Everything here is taken care of.
Getting there is tough. The boats from Taganga, while inexpensive, aren't the safest crafts on some really tough seas.
After reading some articles about recent incidents, i opted to charter a small (but safe) boat and crew. This really added to the total cost.
I'd suggest Wachakyta get their own boat and run 2 trips a day.

Beautiful location, the snorkeling, the simplicity, great service and attention by all the staff, especially by Cata
The plastic blown into the beach; it is not their fault though. Limited variety of some foods, such as they run out of most fruits which had to be transported by boat. Wifi was not good, probably because of the isolated location

Incredible! A privat Bay and national park hikes just for you! There are only 4 treehouses, a lobby, a kitchen and bar area and a house for the incredible friendly and nice staff.
Me and my travel experienced friends are still impressed! They made it work to have a very clean fully functioning accommodation in a treehouse (open) with two fully operating toilets, a rinsing shower, well working Wifi (in common area) a nice bar and clean restaurant with good food (even vegan and vegetarian options - as we informed the hotel staff a week before). Literally all the comfort we needed but on a remote bay, 50min boat ride away from the next village - we could not believe.
The beds are very comfortable with direct beach and jungle view when you wake up. The mosquito nets used are highest quality and very closely stitched so no insect can come it. They also had a great service cleaning the room from the sand daily.
Beautiful beach with either sand or stone ground.
Amazing chill out areas and options: Outside pillows, beds, hammock - and plenty of shade. You can use snorkelling gear and the kanu for free! At night the stars are impressive!
We would like to thank the entire staff for the amazing stay and specially Cata for being a great host!
My personal recommendation is to stay at least 3 days to enjoy, do all activities, calm down and make the boat ride worth!
You need to be aware that the only way to get there is by a 50min boat ride. It can be quite bumpy and I recommend it for adventures personas. For me it is crucial to contact the Wachakyta Staff before travelling to help them organise your ride, as they will only give you contacts of safe and experience providers (if privat trip desired) or book you on a shared Tayrona boat ride (fixed times twice a day) which is cheaper and good. Generally all serious boat provider leave from Taganga as its the safest port to travel from.
In my opinion the experience you have in the bay and national park its is fully worth the adventure and the boat ride.

it was a good stay to
disconnect from our daily routine.
we didn’t have water the last day and even the morning after. we didn’t like the new management either, it wasn’t welcoming and we felt we were an inconvenience every time we ask for a cocktail. in the morning the breakfast was between 8 and 9 and when we got there at 8:30 it seemed like our breakfast had been sitting there for a while since it was cold.

The beach, the snorkeling, happy hour in the bar:)

Beautiful location. Don't let any of the negative coments fool you. It's a perfectly isolated place on a remote private beach. Obviously comes with trade-offs, but it has absolutely everything you need. The boat ride to get there, although bumpy in the very windy season, is perfectly fine as long as you plan for it.

the staff are fantastic. Cata made us feel very welcome and looked after us so well. the food was also great and my issues with the hotel have nothing to do with them as they are lovey.
echoing other peoples comments. the hotel should not exist until suitable transport too and from the hotel is put in place. the journey to the hotel is beyond dangerous and you are risking your life going. we arrived on a private transfer after 1hr 30m from tanganga. the waves were 20ft high and we were 100% full soaked including all of our belongings on a tiny fishing boat. once we arrived we found out that a group of tourists on the exact same boat as ours died the day before when the boat capsized and they all DROWNED.
obviously this meant that our entire stay we had severe stress as to how we are getting back and if we are even going to make it, so we couldn’t enjoy it st all. thankfully the journey back was mildly better due to the fact you are coming with the tide.

The property is a perfect getaway from the crowded and touristic places. In front of a paradisiac private beach. The staff is very welcoming and made us feel like home.
Tayrona park, where Wachakyta is located, is amazing, close to the nature, but is a wild place. Don’t expect luxury.
If you’re planing your stay, check the wind season first, the boat ride from Taganga to Wachakyta can be an unpleasant experience.

landscape, beach, mountain, forest, the food
the bathroom was not en the best conditions

The beach is wonderful and there are a lot of comfy places to chill, read a book and just enjoy life. The served food is quite tasty. Snorkeling should be fun, if the waves are not too big (as they were in our case).
The tents were not the best and not really comfortable. As well the food prices were quite high (35-50k) and we did not get informed how much the different food-options cost. Therefore we were quite surprised at the end! (you should ask when ordering).
Although this is not the fault of the Lodge, it has to be adressed here. We have been there in the windy season and the boat ride there was horrible. The boat was too small for the big waves and we were super afraid! Moreover all our stuff was wet. When arriving in the lodge, other travellers told us even worse stories. One of them had (since the boat ride) serious medical issues (back pain) and was waiting for a helicopter for a safe way back to civilization. Others were forced by the boat captain to lie to the coast guard as it actually was forbidden to navigate on the open sea (because way to dangerous and too big waves). Even a captain of 10 years told us he felt afraid for the first time when on a boat. Summarized: the journey to the lodge can be, depending on the conditions, quite dangerous and the captains do not give a damn about your luggage or, more concernigly, about coast guard recommendations and therefore your safety!

Very peaceful place!
There is only one restaurant inside and the closest place where you can eat is almost 2 hours by boat, but nothing on the menu was in the kitchen. I had a big problem with food during the 4 days I stayed.

the secluded beach was gorgeous and a very special place to watch the sun set.
the boat ride is really very dangerous. the sea is treacherous and the boats aren’t fit for a smooth ride. the lodge should display prices so you can see the difference between the set meal options. the ‘hike’ isn’t safe at all.. not even in hiking gear. the steep walk is very small and there’s nothing to hold onto. plus it’s extremely overgrown and of course full of dangerous animals.. if anything happened to you practically no one would know.. after doing 25% of it we turned around.

The location in the little bay was super incredible - like stunning.
6 other guests that we spoke to got food poisoning. After the first day we ate nothing by patacones, rice and cheese empanadas and were able to avoid it.
You can tell the place has lost its drive, or passion maybe. Things are run down, the person in charge isn't there and will communicate by text, and those actually managing the location seem to be left without agency.
If there are no issues, then you'll have a great time, but if you ran into a booking issue (like us) then don't expect the staff to be very helpful, until the boss on Whatsapp gives the go-ahead.
We booked a promotional deal on Booking.com for 4 nights for 1mil cop. The promotion said 4 night stay in a cabana. It had photos of the cabanas and TENTS. Shortly after we booked we realized that because of the boat schedule and our flight schedule that we would only be able to stay 3 nights. We simply sent them a message that we would be arriving a day late and didn't ask for a price change or anything - our fault.
When we arrived we were taken to tents - no platform. Two other guest also said they booked cabanas, not tents. They ended up leaving after one night. The staff member told us this has happened many times... We said to the staff that we would stay in the tent, but that we feel the promotion was very misleading and we would never have booked it if we had known so we simply asked that they only charge us 3 nights instead of 4 as a compromise. They said a cabana and tent are the same. That's a lie. Cabana is not a tent in spanish.
The staff on site said they would be happy to refund one night, but I need to message the owner so I messaged them on Whatsapp and the response was so incredibly rude I was shocked. They said it wasn't their fault I couldn't read or see the photos and it wasn't their fault I showed up a day late (never said it was).
It was all very strange. The 2nd night they let us stay in a cabana because the guests didn't show.

My stay at Wachakyta was perfect. Everyone (especially Cata, but I do mean everyone) was so kind and helpful. I cannot speak Spanish but they were all doing their best to make my stay special.
I was even given a traditional rice I milk dessert before I left, and it was sooo tasty.
I really loved the ceviche for dinner, it was delicious.
My room was incredible, so big and so quiet. He most amazing view ever.
The beach has lovely spots to sit and relax, swings, hammocks, pillows, so fantastic.
Loved Tinto, Luna and Susi as well.
I would love to come back :)
Nothing to complain about - for a place in the middle of a jungle, this is top luxury.
9.0
absolutely a privilege to be there. if you see complaints you can safely assume it’s from entitled people. it’s the nearest thing you will get to a desert island experience. we absolutely loved it. if you want 5 star Marriott look elsewhere. this is an ecolodge. incredible food and tranquility. the only way in and out is by boat so it’s amazing what they do. we loved Catalina, what a beautiful person she is.
I loved everything. the only thing is when you get the boat DO NOT seat at the front. I’m not scared of the sea, but was terrified. seat at the back at all costs.

The location is amazing! Beautiful cove with complementary kayaks and snorkeling sets. Very peaceful and quiet with hammocks to hang out in and hiking to do around the island.
I got the most HORRIBLE food poisoning of my life here. My boyfriend got sick too. As did a couple that arrived a day before we left and several other guests that we came into contact with. Another guest told us that they had remembered reading some reviews about others having issues with the food as well.
DO NOT EAT THE SEAFOOD (NOT worth it)!!! We think this was the culprit.
Bring plenty of your own snacks as the menu is preset and served only at select hours during the day (e.g. 8-9 breakfast, 2-3 lunch, 8-9 dinner).
We never saw anyone coming to resupply in the entire 4 days we spent there... makes me question the freshness of the food. They also charged me for all meals on the day I was sick and could hardly eat more than a couple bites of anything all day. I requested to have plain rice for lunch and plain pasta for dinner, just to see if I could get something in my system, and was charged for full meal service.
THERE IS NO WATER refill station or filtration system so you must buy bottled water. Doesn't seem very "eco"... We went through 19 bottles in our stay there :/
Also MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WHAT YOU'RE BOOKING! Multiple people showed up during our stay thinking they booked one of the buildings and ended up discovering they were in tents upon arrival. The staff also seemed to know this was a common mistake yet haven't made an effort to fix whatever booking platform issue has led to this confusion.
There was also an issue with some girls getting to their tent to discover that the zipper was completely broken and unable to shut. THIS IS ESSENTIAL as there are foot long centipedes, giant hermit crabs and tons of other wildlife and insects on the property.
1.0
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, I don’t think the location is worth the hassle you go through, there are many issues with this place, the customer service is rude and mean, the food makes you I’ll, the toilets are always blocked and smell terrible, the tents are horrible, it completely ruined my stay
THE WORST EXPERIENCE of my life
LA PEOR EXPERIENCIA de mi vida
On arrival we were presented with our tents. Although specified on confirmation email, pictures and description of the accommodation were misleading. We were not given the options of cabins or tents on the booking app. Therefore we were disappointed to find out we were to camp. Adjusting to the situation we agreed to do so, as we accept that was both their fault for not being clear enough in their platforms.
Nonetheless I think it is important that we were not the only costumers who arrived and were equally surprised by their stay in tents, with similar circumstances, having felt misled by the information provided at the time of booking. The employer at reception also mentioned this was not an isolated case and had happened many times in the past. We feel that’s an issue which needs correcting. Reading past reviews we then realised it has happened far too often.
Furthermore, we were then told that our tent was broken with both the mosquito net and the outer layer of the tent unable to close and seal away from insects and other bugs. We were left with no privacy either. We were given the alternative of either two individual one man pop-up tents (not currently in use as the temperature is too hot to sleep in them), or one individual man tent with two mattresses that did not fit, one on top of each other (please see images attached). At that point we explained that neither were an appropriate alternative. We SLEPT IN A BROKEN TENT.
Had we known we would be sleeping in a broken tent that night we may have decided to arrange a different accommodation.
We were FOOD POISONED with severe gastrointestinal signs from the food we were served. Several other people were too.
Finally we had arranged verbally we would only pay one night as we decided to leave early. Then realised they charged us for two nights behind our backs and sent us a different bill to what we paid to at the lodge.
