This island home is your perfect vacation getaway!. Our home is located a short walk or even shorter drive from the beach and fishing pier and the golf course is 1/2 mile away! It is just off the bike trail and Salt Creek playground. The home also backs up to Salt Creek, a quiet creek which is great for birding, fishing, or kayaking from the backyard!
Furnished in the latest island style, this home features a gourmet kitchen with stainless appliances and granite countertops, and 3 bathrooms, one with dual shower heads and another with a deep soaking tub. Three bedrooms have direct bath access. The 4th bedroom upstairs has a tv and games., full size bed and two twin beds with Tuft and Needle mattresses. This room is most comfortable for up to 4 children or 3 adults due to bed sizes (2 twin and 1 full).
The outside life is great on Dauphin Island, and you will enjoy the luxury of your own 12 x 20 heated (off season) fun pool. The entire large back porch is screened in so you can enjoy the outdoor life even more! Note that we do not charge extra for pool heating, and are not responsible if weather conditions or occasional mechanical issues prevent the pool from being warm (the pool is a heat pump and will not function in weather under about 50 degrees).
Also, we do keep bikes at the home but they are provided AS A COURTESY and are not guaranteed. We rely on our guests to ride them carefully to help keep them in good shape. Bike rental places are available on the island if you need a guaranteed bike size, style, or condition.

My family of six thoroughly enjoyed this house! The space was great and there were so many amenities, including lots of pool floaties and beach toys. The pool was definitely our favorite part! The trees surrounding the property made it feel very private and secluded, which was great. We all felt so comfortable here! When we had an issue with the oven not working, Julie was so easy to get a hold of and solved the problem quickly. The only thing I would add is towels for the pool. We drove so it wasn’t a big deal to bring our own, but if people are flying in, it might be more of a hassle to bring them along. We would definitely stay here again!!

We have been renting homes on VRBO for over 20 years and we have had some great rentals. This is the first one we have stayed at for a second time- and we hope to come back again next year!!
The house is absolutely perfect. It is spacious and has every amenity you can think of. The beds are super comfy- even for the one in our party who is pretty particular about such things! We have been staying in April and the water temperature in the pool is perfect!
We are up and out daily as dawn breaks and we are usually heading to Shell Mounds to see what birds might be migrating through. Some days we are delayed as there are often some pretty amazing birds right there in our own yard! This year we had a bald eagle who would regularly come and sit in the pines. Some days he was just resting- other days he would come in with his catch of the day and we would have some really up close and personal views of him.
The house is centrally located on the island-you can get anywhere in just a few minutes! We regularly got take out from various restaurants and would bring the food back to eat on the screened in porch so we could watch the wildlife while we ate. The yard is large and private and surrounded by woods and the brook in the back.
Julie is the perfect hostess- if you ever have any questions- she responds immediately. I am so thankful we have found this home, it really is our slice our heaven get-away! Thank you so much for sharing your home!

We have never stayed in a property so well appointed before … every detail was seen to and well thought out. The kitchen was simply superb with every item imaginable available and in good supply. The same could be said for the entire house, inside and out/poolside. The dorm-style room upstairs proved perfect for the grandkids. The laundry was exceptionally handy. Closets and storage kept us easily organized. The owners were extremely accommodating, personable, and attentive … genuinely caring for our needs. We simply cannot recommend this home enough!

I can’t say enough good things about the house and the hosts. The house is amazingly well stocked, especially for kids. Not having to drag all our baby gear down was so helpful. The beds are very comfortable with high quality sheets, there are so many spaces to be you never feel crowded and there is great space away from the neighbors. We much prefer the smaller, local, unhurried feel of Dauphin Island over the hurried, commercialized feel of Ft Morgan/Gulf Shores. Hosts are responsive and easy to work with. I’ve already recommended this place to friends!

The house itself and location were perfect. We had an unforgettable stay and the recommendations were perfect. Being just minutes away from many different beaches was so great. The house had everything we needed. We ate at Skinners 2x during our stay. Had to give them a special mention. Farmers market, aquarium, bakery, gift shops, golfing and beaches everywhere. Would definitely stay again.

Every morning I had breakfast on the screened in porch. We all spent quite a bit of time out there. Next time we're bringing kayaks for the creek behind the house! We have rented many vacation homes in the past but this one is the first that truly had EVERYTHING to make your home away from home an exceptional stay! Comfy beds, A/C that works remarkably, extremely clean and the best screened in patio! We had 3 families that included kids aged 13, 11, 3, 1 1/2. Our kids loved fishing in the creek, playing wiffle ball in the yard, swimming, riding the provided bikes to the park and basketball court that’s right around the corner from the house and of course hanging at the beach… need I say more? They were entertained the entire time which allowed the grownups to relax a little! The inside of the house was stocked and organized with all the essentials plus additional items that came in handy! If there is one note I would drop to upcoming renters, don’t buy coffee filters! There are enough to last a lifetime. Ha!

We left our stay here. It was great to divide our time between swimming in the pool, kayaking down the salt creek to the bay and going to the beach.
The house is laid out nicely for a family group. It was close to everything, including the bakery, the store, the beach, restaurants, and did I mention the bakery.
Julie was very responsive and we had some trouble with the dishwasher. She got it fixed right away. It was nice to have the bikes available as well as beach equipment. Thank you again for allowing us to stay.

When we entered the property our whole family was impressed. The house is absolutely beautiful. I was especially impressed by the cleanliness of the property. Everything was sparkling clean. This is the cleanest VRBO that we have stayed in. The stay was very relaxing. I highly recommend taking a ferry ride across the bay and going to visit Orange Beach. The pool and pool table were a lot of fun for the whole family. Overall relaxing and just what we needed. Great communication by the host. Thanks for everything!

WOW! This was the perfect vacation house for our bird watching trip!
The house was quite spacious! The beds were super comfortable – which was very welcome after a day spent walking and exploring. The house did not lack any amenities. I do love going places and finding the fridge totally empty and ready for our groceries - that was great! My husband spent much of his time on his computer and the internet speed was perfect for his needs as well. The kitchen is well appointed though I never did take time to cook- we got takeout from the local area restaurants daily and sat out on the screen porch to enjoy our dinners. The backyard is quite large and very private and with the canal and trees- it was just so peaceful watching the birds while we ate. The outdoor furniture is very comfy and I would often find my husband asleep out there!
After birding all morning we would take mid-day breaks and come home and jump In the pool and get refreshed before our afternoon and early evening explorations! After the first day I would not go out to the pool without my camera as I never knew what kind of bird would pop by while we were out there. I had not expected that the house itself would become such a hot spot for birds! One day new were out exploring all the bird hot spots- and we were in search of the painted bunting. We had no luck. When we got back to the house and pulled in the driveway- what was in the yard?? A painted bunting!!!

I am still amazed!!
I loved the mid island location- anyplace we wanted to go was just a few minutes away. Julie was very quick to answer any questions and was the perfect hostess! We will be back!!!

It was our first visit to Dauphin Island, and it was a great vacation! The house was perfect for two families. The kitchen was stocked for cooking and eating in. The pool was great, along with all of the deck space. The house is in the perfect location, close to everything but you have your own space. Julie and Steve were FANTASTIC hosts. Eat the local seafood and go to the bakery. We will certainly be back!

This property is absolutely beautiful and true to the description. I have traveled and used alot of rental properties. For the first time, I over packed. The owner had bikes, basketball and goal, swimming pool equipment, beach toys and wagon, and grill. The house was fully equipped with pots and pans, condiments, adequate toilet paper and paper towels, dish washing and laundry detergent. The owners were friendly and easy to access by text. I brought one other adult and my three children ranging in age from 6-10. I was also provided with local activites and events. It is a property that I would stay in again!!

We had the best time at this property! Everything was clean and well-stocked! The pool is AMAZING and the perfect size and depth for my kids who are not yet the strongest swimmers. They loved playing in this pool. The location was perfect. We loved seeing all of the wildlife on the island. All beds were very comfortable. We loved that the upstairs had its own air unit and separate thermostat. We will definitely stay here again.

This home was a great match for everyone in our group ranging from 10 years old to 79 years old. We loved the separate ice machine for filling our cooler for the beach. The kids loved playing ping pong, swimming and reading in the hammock. The home is very private. We really had a wonderful time!

Loved dauphin island!!
This house was great. I was a little worried about dauphin island bc I had heard the water wasn’t very pretty since were used to going to Florida but the gulf side of the west end beach was very pretty and the water was clear enough to see 4-5 feet down! The only things I would say that could make the house better would be a few more blankets and maybe fans on the decks upstairs to enjoy the outside more. The house itself was great though! The ice maker was amazing!! Thank you for sharing your house with us!!

It was exceptionally clean, with all the amenities we needed, and plenty we didn’t have time to take advantage of. We spent lots of time in the pool, kitchen, and screened in back porch and loved our time there! The location is perfect, as it’s a super short drive to the stores, restaurants, beaches, and the bird sanctuary. We had a chance to chat with the owners and they were lovely and gave us some great suggestions for where to visit.

Awesome stay
My sister and I took our mother and her sisters and other family members to dauphin island and rented this place. We had a wonderful time. It was perfect for us. Loved the privacy and the private pool. Enjoyed the use of pool tubes and the bikes. Only downside was some of the bikes needed a little TLC. Overall a wonderful stay! Would recommend

The house was absolutely amazing!!! The location was private but still close to beach. The description and pictures don’t even begin describe how beautiful this house was. I loved the ice maker and all the amenities. The extra ice chest ice storage area. The only thing I wish there was was extra blankets. We bought some in gulf shores tge day after check in so no big deal. I loved tge instructions they were very clear on what we had to do. Julie has been very helpful through whole check in and check out. We def will be staying again

We had such a great experience at Heron’s Nest! The home was beautiful and in a great location. Short drive to the beaches (west end was our favorite- so many shells 🐚). Fully equipped kitchen came in handy as we cooked every meal. The pool was perfect for the kids. Just a great place for a family vacation.

Loved our stay
Our review echoes what others have already said. The home was as described and spotless upon arrival. Communication with the host was very easy. Our gathering spot was the screened in porch. We loved sitting out there all evening most nights. The upstairs game room was perfect for the 4 kids (ages 7-10). My boys slept on the futon mattresses and thought they were super comfy. The walk to the beach is as described. A bit of a hike, but i was able to do it even at 23 weeks pregnant without a problem. We preferred pelicans cove to the public beach. Overall, a great place to stay and we would return if ever back on the island.
