The Lodge at Lake Coma offers 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and accommodates 12 to 15 people very comfortably with the option to rent the guest 2 bedroom cottage across the lake sleeping an additional 6 people (See VRBO 668930). 18 beautiful pristine acres teeming in wild life surrounding Lake Coma offers your own private paradise. Chickens, ducks, goats roaming with boating, swimming and fishing on the lake.
The home was designed to take in the full aspect of the very beautiful lake, all rooms except for the 4th bedroom have lake views. The Lodge has a lot of sunlight due to the many windows and also very airy, has a lovely feeling, once you enter you get a very warm and lively feeling to the home.
The Lodge is very open plan with large living room/dinning area.
Master bedroom/ bath on the upper floor overlooking the lake with two decks and a screened in porch for dinning.
The lower floor comprised of 4 more bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The second bedroom has a bathroom ensuite with the remaining 3 bedrooms sharing the 3rd bathroom.
All rooms are cozy well appointed and 3rd bedroom has 2 queens and 2 single beds: this makes a great room for kids sleeping 6. The 5th bedroom is small and has two single beds but is very, very cozy and our youngest loves this room, still works for adults too.
Activities, amenities and points of interest at Lake Coma :
Walking & Running
We have many beautiful trails around the lake and throughout our 20 acres, perfect for a leisurely walk. The Forgotten Trail is an over grown trail tunnel that we discovered by accident some years ago, fun at night in the dark.
Fishing, swimming, boating
Our 3.2 acre lake was originally built for a fishing lodge and is well stocked with some really large fish, you are welcome to fish your heart out and we have a paddle boat and canoe at your disposal too.
Two docks offer a lovely place to relax on the water and also offers easy access for swimmers.
Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Covered Bridge:
We have a 4 person Caldera Hot Tub located next to the home and on the lower floor over looking the lake. The Hot Tub is especially wonderful when the temperature drops in the mountains.
Asheville has a wonderful 4 seasons climate and enjoys many beautiful clear days and starry nights. The Hot Tub has been a favorite by family and friends when the kids swim in the cool lake and then jump in the hot tub.
Fire Pit
We have a large fire pit which has fire wood.
Our cottage guest have enjoyed numerous nights by the fire pit and it is also right on the lake.
A fun evening activity for the family, don't forget the marshmallows, if you do we have some.
Covered Bridge
We have covered bridge with a picnic table over looking the lake, a great spot to just relax or have a picnic.
Chicken Coup
We have chickens. We get fresh eggs depends on the time of the year!
You are welcome to correct from the coop.

House was nice, owner was very helpful and available if needed.

Great property, pond and animals were a big plus. Our grandkids (4 and 6) couldn't get enough of the goats!
Two areas of improvement - house was super hot at night. Fans helped a little. The septic tank did back up a bit and Brett was very responsive (thanks!) - sorry to say but this could be a big investment to fix.
Kitchen was well stocked - much appreciated as we did a lot of cooking! Second fridge downstairs is a great feature.

Overall great place for multigenerational families. Lots to do nearby but mostly a nice spot to hang out and swim.

Mostly very good. House was clean and comfortable Everything worked well except most door latches needed repair Six of our ten people complained about the comfort of the bed The location was perfect except for jet noise from the airport. We really enjoyed the lake and dock and privacy afforded. We all agreed we would like to come back

We loved the house and the the owner and his wife were outstanding but the winner for the grandkids were the animals, especially the goats. Brett (owner) and his wife included our grandkids on the daily feedings and medicine and they absolutely loved it. The fresh eggs were a bonus! Great location being near Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore and easy drives to Black Mountain and Hendersonville. Plenty of room for our twelve.

Really enjoyed this very unique property situated on a peaceful lake. We had 3 families with kids and there was so much to do (hiking, fishing, paddle boating, even feeding a variety of animals). Located centrally enough to easily get to a variety of locations around Asheville. We did a lot of cooking and kitchen was stocked and had a huge table for all of us to gather around. The owner is very nice and receptive to concerns; he even set up a Christmas tree for us as we were here over the holiday. Only minor complaint is house is a little dated downstairs with the heat only partially working which keeps it pretty chilly.

The hosts at this property were the best. So responsive and helpful with anything we needed. They even went so far as to buy and install a baby gate for us upon our arrival! I highly recommend them! Thank you for making our family Thanksgiving great!

Perfect house for our family of 12. We loved swimming in the lake and hanging out on the dock. Just 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. The house isn’t modern fancy but was super comfortable and clean. It has a great open living area with a well equipped kitchen for large groups. We loved the screened porch. Full disclosure - the house is on the direct flight path for the Asheville airport. Occasional planes taking off or landing low overhead - But did not impact our enjoyment. The hosts live nearby and were very responsive.

We had our annual family get together here, we are from Kentucky, Virgina, and North Carolina.
The home was great, the dining area was large enough for everyone, which was a welcome surprise. The home was clean and very well equipped with household items. The deck are was a great place to hang out in the evenings.
The location was great close to Ashville, Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Lake Lure/Chimney Rock.
The lake on the property was another great surprise, from the two paddle boats and two canoes. The kids and adults both enjoyed swimming and fishing the lake.
The owners are onsite and were very welcoming and nice people.
Bret and Rumi, thank you for your hospitality!!

Are stay was great, we had a few kids with us that love fishing so the lake was wonderful, they fished everyday!! The animals were another big hit for them too. Everything we needed was in the house, it was clean and comfortable and we had many late game nights on the back porch, my sisters family also rented the little cabin which was in walking distance which was nice. The only negative i would have to say is the neighbor on the hill is not pleasent but its not the owners fault by any means, it didnt ruin our vacation! We would definitely rent this house again ❤️

The lake view and grounds are beautiful. We all enjoyed feeding, petting and listening to the animals kept nearby. The home was spacious and updated and everything we’d hoped for. The kids loved swimming in the lake and riding in the paddle boats and canoes. All in all, the perfect place for gathering and enjoying our family!

Had a marvelous time. Great house. Perfect bedroom set ups for our family of 13. Lake and hot tub were in constant use. More chairs needed near lake for lounging, so we brought our own. Great kitchen and very large dining area which was so good for our large group.

Our family (ages 2 to 70) enjoyed our stay very much. Everyone was very comfortable, and the lake activities and animals were a real bonus!

Loved having a peaceful landing spot near all of our adventures.

Spacious home & gracious hosts who were immediately available to remedy issues with the heat & frig. The owner kindly left food for the kids to feed the animals, which they really enjoyed. Hiking around the pond was also a delight for all. Perfect length for toddlers & our 4 yr old.
I definitely recommend adding more screening to completely cover the wooden floor entrance to the covered bridge area as we did have slips & falls on the slippery surface. Another safety suggestion would be to fill in the railing openings on the upstairs staircase. The trellis work was appreciated but not enough to assure safety to toddlers & young children. Providing a gate at the top of the stairs, that is secure but opens & closes for adults to access the bedrooms on the bottom floor is also recommended.
Overall, an enchanting property'-relaxing in front of the fire place in the evenings was lovely. The kitchen was very well-equipped and plenty of space for our family.
Definitely recommend this property!
We stayed in December and we could imagine how much fun a spring, summer or fall stay could be!

Wonderful experience for our family reunion. Whether we were looking for a platter for serving, wine glasses or an extra blanket- everything was there. And in beautiful surroundings! Hosts are charming people.

The open living, dining, kitchen area was perfect for our family gathering. The grandkids loved the paddle boat and fishing from the dock. Bret was very responsive to our questions and needs when we checked in. We’d love to come back.

We (four 55 yo lifelong friends) enjoyed the property. Convenient location and more than enough space. Brett and Rumi are delightful. The property and kitchenware could use a deep cleaning, but we poured a cocktail, gazed at the view, reminded ourselves that it’s a lake house, and quickly got over it:)

We loved the pond for fishing and boating. The animals were sweet and fun to be with. The house was well stocked with dishes, pots, etc. It was very peaceful there and offered something for everyone. Thank you Rumi and Brent for everything. Blessings always.

We really enjoyed this house. It is very spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped for preparing a family meal and the large dinning room table can accommodate 10 or so persons. My grandkids enjoyed the dock for fishing tremendously. The paddleboats were a lot of fun for them. In the early morning you can see deer and we even saw a bear with 2 cubs.

Just 15 minutes out of Asheville, this rental is tucked away in a secluded neighborhood with a pond.
This is our fourth VRBO rental and it easily accommodated all 14 of us. There is a lot to do on property, and an amazing array of things to do all around Asheville. Mountain biking, tubing, fishing and hiking are just a few of the activities we enjoyed.

A fun place to stay with plenty of room for a large group.
This place was perfect for our family of 14. The place was well stocked. Our family enjoyed fishing, using the canoe and paddleboat plus the hot tub. Close to the Biltmore, Asheville and Hendersonville.

Great property!
We rented the property for my daughters graduation and loved every minute of our stay. The kids enjoyed all the amenities to the fullest. We will be coming back when my son graduates to enjoy it again. Property owners are so kind and attentive. The house had everything we needed. Thank you so very much.

Our own little piece of paradise!
We loved it! There are a few things that need some tlc but overall we had no complaints. We thoroughly enjoyed the paddle boats, canoe, hot tub and the animals. We didn’t roam around the town much because I was perfectly content just to enjoy the peace and quiet. The planes were a bit of a distraction but it didn’t take long to get used to it. I would definitely stay here again,

What an incredible space. The location is beyond perfect, close to everything yet feel in the middle of nowhere. Rumi and Brett are the kindest, attentive hosts. love this place so much. A perfect rustic cabin/lodge feel.

Excellent! Highly recommend for families!
We recently stayed at this property with 3 families- 6 adults and 6 kids (4, 6, 6, 10, 10, 12). EVERYONE loved the property and had a wonderful stay! My kids did not want to leave. They enjoyed getting fresh eggs every morning and playing with the bunnies. They loved going out on the lake on the paddle boat and exploring the property. The house was perfect for our large group with lots of space. The location of the house was perfect for our trip! We went into downtown Asheville and explored both Dupont State Park and Pisgah National Forest. if we go back to the Asheville area we will definitely stay here again! My kids are already asking when we can go back :)

Great Family Get Away
Our visit could not have been better. Location in secluded area but with easy access to all that Asheville offers. Grocery nearby which really helps. Innkeeper assistance was excellent. Accommodations were comfortable, plenty of dining area for a large group (there was 11 but we would have had room for a couple of more). Beautiful lake and trail, with paddleboat and canoes.

Great trip
Great property. 15 minutes from downtown. Easy access to all of the attractions in the area.

Nice property but a few watch outs for small children
We enjoyed our trip to Asheville. This house had plenty of space. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils. Also the family room upstairs is spacious and great seating at the kitchen table. Upstairs was very well done. Also view of lake is pretty and cool to be able to walk along the lake.
Few opportunities (in particular if you have small children):
- staircase going to basement doesn’t have railing. We were nervous with our small children (ages 1-5) going downstairs by themselves.
- outside stairs from deck to lake does not have very sturdy railing. The railing has very large gaps; therefore wouldn’t recommend for small children to walk on alone
- the property states on several acres; however, it appears that is mostly the lake or other houses on property too. We may have just misunderstood this info.
- the fire pit and picnic table needed upkeep
- downstairs was a bit dingy and dark- or perhaps seemed colder with the tile floors
Overall, upstairs very nice and has some nice options with lake in back. We wouldn’t recommend for families with small children though- until safety measures added to the railings inside and outside.

So suitable for family with young kids
We had a wonderful 4 days at the lodge. The surroundings were beautiful, especially in the fall. The lodge was close to great hiking areas, Blue Ridge mountain adventures, and stores for food provisions. The open-concept living area was ideal for our family of 6 children (under 12 years) and 8 adults. The adults could enjoy our time together while close enough to supervise the younger children's play. The kitchen had ample supplies for us to prepare meals; the large dining table allowed enough space for us to eat together as a family. The owner was very responsive and helpful in communication. We loved our stay!

Wonderful property for large family gathering
This property was ideal for large family gathering (13 adults). We reserved both the lodge and the cottage. Both properties were clean, well maintained, and well supplied. Rumi and Brett are great hosts and communicate promptly. Property has a very rural feel yet very convenient to Asheville attractions. The property is in the flight path of Asheville airport with fairly frequent flights coming in during the day, but very few at night. That did not bother us since we were often away from the house during the day .

Seven of us spent 5 nights at the Lodge. Very nice, comfortable arrangement for our group. We enjoyed the screened in porch and all of the space in the living room. Upholstered furniture is rather worn and could use updating. From the description, we expected to have options to hike on the property. There is a trail around the lake, but I would not describe it as a hike.Rumi provided firewood, but we failed to bring any starter. Be sure to bring some if you are as inept as our group. Since it had rained recently, we could not get any kindling started. We had lots of laughs trying our best; instead we sat around the smoking pit instead of a fire pit. Love the setting even without a fire. There was an issue with the a/c unit, but Rumi did send repairmen quickly. She is nearby and responds to calls or texts. All in all, it was a great location for our get together. I would recommend ! And I would not hesitate to return.

Fall at the Lake
The property was wonderful. My family attended with our teenagers and my parents. It fit all of our needs. My kids 16 & 18 enjoyed the pets on property, fishing and walking the pond. They explored the area often. My parents and I enjoyed the porches and view. It was easy commute to Fletcher area. Not far from Airport. We were intown for a horse show at Ag center. Easy access to it but still offering a private feel for family time. Restaurants, Stores and Highway not far only a few miles. Overall great place to stay. Rumi was wonderful host. She stopped by to check on us and texted to support any needs we came up with. We have hopes of staying again next year!
