rundown hotel that calls itself hostel

The location where the hostel is, was good, but its close to where it gets shady.

This is not a hostel. Its a cheap rundown hotel, nothing is going on there. Nothing is on the balcony, not even a chair or a plant, and no light, so you can't really use it. The showerhead is broken and only cold water out of a hole in the wall. The sink is leaking on the bathroom floor and then the whole floor in the bathroom is wet. And there is only very little toilet paper. And when I asked for morestoiletpaper, he didnt supply more. And in the double room was only one (very old) towel. The AC broke down several times during our 4 day stay and we had no fan. Maybe the hotel looked nice five years ago, when all the pictures were uploaded, but since then nothing has been invested and everything falls apart. Even the kitchen looks nasty. I would not cook there. On the rooftopterrasse was nothing else than an old hammock, an old carpet used by a dog and no plants. The owner is friendly. But still, he should definitly do a lot of maintenancework in this place.

Buena ubicación!!!

La ubicación de la casa es lo mejor que tiene, ya que está cerca a todo el centro de la ciudad.

La habitación puede mejorar, la cama no era cómoda, sus paredes no estaban limpias y habían cosas en la cocina que les faltaban limpiar. Ojala pueda mejorar esos aspectos.

Comfortable and great owner!

The location was great! Easy walk to the main road of restaurants and the historic center, the beach is also not far. The room was comfortable and the shared kitchen was well kept. There's a nice roof to get some fresh air but not really great views. The staff were so helpful and kind, Said had great communication and was always asking if we needed anything.

Spacious and centrally located - great hostal!

We had a great stay here! It’s close to the center and the supermarket. Our room was spacious with a huge balcony. Said is super friendly and gave us lots of recommendations of things to do in and around Santa Marta. The kitchen is clean and well-equipped for cooking. The street is quiet at night, so I’d just recommend taking a taxi if returning after dark. Great hostal to stay at while in Santa Marta!

Good

The kitchen is good for cooking meals and the owner is super friendly nice guy. Thought the mattress was comfortable.

Avoid going left down the street away from the beach I was mugged with a machete down there. The cleaning staff are unbelievably loud shouting at each other early in the morning right outside the room. The pillows were uncomfortable.

The location of the Hostal was perfect. It is in the heart of Santa Marta. Near supermarket, souveniers shops, restaurants and beaches. All walking distance.

The expectation of the Hostal was totally different. Did not complete the services that has been published on Booking. ■The first thing was there was a strong presence of gas in the whole hostal.( not safe, although the owner took action and fixed it it kept smelling like gas when wanting to use the stove). Only one burner was working. We could not cook normal ■ in the kitchen cabins there was of those small cockroaches and a lot of anteaters around. ■It was not hygienic, toillet downstairs next to the kitchen was nasty with pee, couldn't use it, no toilletpaper, no soap. (Was missing all of the small details) ■The 2nd day there was no wifi and no t.v. anymore, it looked like they have cut the services (the real reason is unknown) ■ No Privacy. I did not receive a key for the room that I have reserved. Only main entrance key. The doorhandle of the room got broken. Sow the room stayed open with all of our things in there.

Super clean accommodation with friendly staff in a good location!

Great value for our stay in Santa Marta.

Location was excellent. Close to everything downtown. Felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Was comfortable for our needs. Great value.

the owner is really polite and he also tell you about the places you can visit, he makes you feel like in your own house

when you get there like really late at night, the street is completely empty so you better take a taxi or take a ride there if you want to stay over a while

Exceptional

The owner of hostel is really really nice and friendly, gave us all advices about the city and everything. He speaks english very well also. Was clean everything, and it is possible to wash the clothes there also. Good and calm location, near center and also, just few minutes walking . Would come again if i will be in Santa Marta.

NOISE from street and doesn’t matter open your window or not. feelings like you sleep at the street - you heard cars, moots, people passing by. BROKEN SHOWER with really bad pressure. we can’t wash sand after beach from our hairs((( and water is cold. LACK OF TEA, COFFEE at the morning. there is just not any usual drinks for morning(

Fine for a low-medium budget private room, nice staff, homely, private, pet friendly!

The owner was really nice and friendly and spoke perfect English. I like the fact it is small and is kind of like a house, you can use the kitchen and fridge and feels like being at home rather than in a hostel. The location is close to the main historic area although a few minutes out, which is nice because it is not super noisy at night. It was very clean. The cheapest private room that allowed pets close to the centre that I found so it was fine. The room didn't have a fan, just AC but when I asked the owner he brought me a fan too which was really nice. You can come and go as you please which I also liked, you just had to whatsapp the owner if you needed him as he lives in one of the rooms.

The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, with very flat pillows, they only gave us 1 towel to begin with but gave us another one when asked. We had the room with the balcony at the front of the house which was very noisy in the morning with cars going past, people playing music from other houses and people selling fruit in the street etc. I guess this would be the same in any hotel if you have the room at the front.

Quaint and sweet

Had all the necessities. A/C worked perfectly. Small place with a nice little kitchen and small terrace on top. Sayid is super sweet and his staff is great as well. They communicate really well and are ready and willing to help. They let us keep our luggage there while we hiked up to Tayrona. We tipped them for that since we only stayed one night.

This is for the 3 bed private room only, which has 3 bunk bed sized beds: Not really user friendly, not much room to move around and no table to put things on. The bathroom is kinda small for where the toilet is. The mattresses are so thin, you could feel the wooden planks below, we considered doubling them up. The pillows aren’t great either. Doubled up on those, but it seems like good pillows are hard to come by, even at 4 star hotels on the coast so 🤷🏽‍♀️

Exceptional

It was a great place to stay, clean, comfortable with a nice dining area and common spaces. Said is so knowledgeable and helpful, a perfect host. I had a lovely spacious room with a balcony, although earplugs are necessary due to street noise but that's Colombia! They also have a peaceful room at the back. It is really convenient for buses to the beaches and surrounding area.

It was quite far away from the best beaches.
