About this apartment rental
The Ma'alaea Kai Penthouse Suite is a two-story, non-smoking unit with two full bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, living room, and lanai. It can easily accommodate two couples or a family of four. Probably the best feature is a two-story, open-beam ceiling living room, and lanai. A two-story, glass wall opens to a breathtaking view of the ocean. Our condo does not have Air Conditioning. The tradewinds blow over the isthmus and through the condo bringing a natural coolness.
As you plan your ultimate Maui vacation, don't settle for a 'partial ocean view.' The Ma'alaea Kai Penthouse Suite looks out on a huge ocean view and the pool, surrounded by meticulously-kept grounds. In the distance is the ancient Haleakala Volcano.
The Ma'alaea Kai Penthouse Suite is handsomely decorated with a Japanese-Hawaiian flair so consistent with the island's culture. The upstairs bedroom enjoys an open view of the ocean through the two-story windows. You can even see the ocean from the upstairs shower! The living room and lanai have a spacious feeling that literally mirrors the deep blue Pacific Ocean.
The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you will need for a quick breakfast or a gourmet dinner served out on the lanai. All the appliances are new including microwave, toaster, coffee grinder for fresh Kona coffee, and a four-speed smoothie machine so you can enjoy all the incredible tropical fruit available here on Maui.
The Ma'alaea Kai is simply the best maintained and most beautiful condominium-hotel along the Ma'alaea Bay coast. A huge, putting green-style lawn and bright blue pool are the only things that separate you from the ocean. Palm trees sway in the tradewinds and gorgeous tropical flowers bloom everywhere. Maui Sea turtles have made their home here, you can see them from our lanai. At times we count up to 50 of them feeding off the rocks right in front of the condo. You can walk right in and snorkel with them along with many other tropical fish varieties. Explore the ancient underwater caverns that are just past the surf. Unlike most other resort areas on Maui, Hauoli Street is a short (one-fourth mile) tropical walk to Sugar Beach. Just north, a two-minute walk takes you to Ma'alaea Bay boat harbor for all your boat trips and shopping at the Ma'alaea Harbor Village. Trilogy is our favorite boat, we just took a trip to Lanai and saw schools of spinner dolphins on our way there and back! Amazing, more than we could count, heaven on earth!
Sugar Beach is just a five-minute walk from the Ma'alaea Kai and is probably the quietest beach on Maui, and one of the longest. You can walk or run along this beach for miles and pass only a few other people. Sugar Beach is great at sunrise or sunset or for catching rays midday without another soul in sight. Because it is tucked around the bay, Sugar Beach is an ideal place for children to enjoy the ocean where waves and undertow are always safe.
The Ma'alaea small boat harbor is one of only a few such harbors on Maui. This is the island's main launching point to the crystal-clear, tropical waters of Maui. Snorkeling trips, deep-sea fishing, and sunset cruises all begin right here and you do not even have to park. Above the harbor is the Ma'alaea Harbor Village, a small but quaint shopping area with four excellent restaurants. The Maui Ocean Center is also located here and a visit is highly recommended. Tante's Fish Market Restaurant is very popular and has the longest Happy Hour~ Noon-6pm with $3.50 Mai Tai's. Havens Harborside Chop House has opened, great dining and a good happy hour.
The Seascape Restaurant is my choice for lunch and hosts a stunning open-air view of the harbor and ocean. They also have really nice Happy Hour...Mai Tai's $5.00! Point Break Pizza & Panini is a great addition to the Harbor. The food is great and the price is great too. The General Store is awesome for breakfast or lunch and has great coffee and cocktails. You can pick up a few grocery items too.
Sunrise from the Ma'alaea Kai Penthouse Suite is an experience in itself. Pre-dawn light brings the singing of birds and iridescent blue waters. The trade winds ruffle the palm trees and caress your senses as you sit with your first cup of Kona coffee in the huge lanai. As the sun breaks over the ancient 10,000-foot Halealala Volcano, your face and your world are bathed in sunlight. Your penthouse is illuminated with a bright warmth that leaves you glowing. It is time to think about the day's activities or simply sit back and have another cup of coffee.
Ma'alaea Bay is Maui's most quiet, secluded, best-kept secret. It is truly the most centrally located vacation area on all of Maui, lying at the ocean front and between two volcanoes that formed the island. The old whaling port Lahaina is 18 miles to the north. Bustling Kihei is eight miles to the south, and it takes just ten minutes to drive from the airport to the Ma'alaea Kai Penthouse Suite.
A must, and a favorite of ours is paddling with Mana'olana (Pink Paddlers)! Located just a couple miles away. For only $20.00 (1st time free for cancer survivors) you can enjoy an unbelievable experience paddling (about an hour) in a traditional Hawaiian canoe (double hulled) with an experienced captain and crew. Once out in the ocean you can see turtles, fish, coral and sea life. During whale season you can spot whales (we just watched a mom and baby whale), a once in a lifetime moment. In addition, after paddle a delicious treat-breakfast and coffee is provided.

Condo is right by the harbor, and a few food and drink spots to walk to. So nice and easy. No traffic no cars. Just turtles sunrises pizzas and boat drinks. 100% will return to this area again and 100% would stay at this condo again. Mahalo !

I was there for four days recently enjoyed every moment, beautiful breeze, And the views were great. Look forward to going back.

At first blush, the location doesn’t seem quite ideal. While on the water, you’re not really at the beach and you’re a bit outside the usual tourist spots. But we quickly realized this is a feature not a bug. The condo is centrally located and makes it exceptionally easy to go just about anywhere on the island. You’re also close enough to Kahului to head into town for supplies or a relatively cheap (by Maui standards) meal. There are definitely proper beaches in walking distance, albeit less frequented ones. For our family this was pretty much perfect and you really can’t beat the pleasure of waking up every morning to unobstructed views of Haleakala. Watched the sunrise over the mountain every day of our stay.

Very well maintained with a very good view. We loved all the extras that came with the property and also how easy the owners were to deal with. Would definitely recommend this spot to anybody looking for a 2 bd oceanfront condo

The condo is the nice’s VRBO I have rented. Master loft bedroom and bath are a 10. View from your bed of the bay in the morning is breathtaking.

We rented this unit for the Maui marathon and the location was excellent - almost exactly the halfway point. The unit is a bit “tired” as others have said but clean, decently equipped and has a wonderful waterfront view. The posted pictures really don’t do it justice. I thought the water was further away than it is. The loft layout means that you can hear anything in the entire unit but we knew that when we rented. Overall a great place and good value! Wonderful stay!

The apartment was just as advertised. It was very clean, great location (can walk to marina and a couple of restaurants), beautiful views of the water! Also, giant turtles within steps! Owners very responsive—we thought there was a leak and they were great! Was our fault but they were very nice. Lots of staples in the kitchen as well as every water toy needed. We’d stay there again—highly recommend.

What an amazing place to stay in Maui! The view from bed every morning was amazing. I’m glad we did this instead of staying at a resort. The kids loved watching the sea turtles. We really appreciated the cooler, chairs, boogie boards, and umbrella provided in the condo. It made our beach days amazing. Also laundry available a few steps away we went home just needing to unpack. Todd and Stefani were great hosts and made sure everything went well. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

We loved everything about this property. Loved the location. So quiet and peaceful yet so close to everything. We had peaceful days and then fun, active days. The owners were amazing. We ran into a tiny issue beyond their control and not only did they notify us they compensated us for the slight inconvenience. We will definitely come back. I was so sad to leave. You should definitely stay here..you cannot beat the view!!!!

I don't know where to start, other than saying that this was the perfect condo for us. The view and the tradewinds combined made for a true paradise. The pool is in sight from the balcony so we could watch our daughter swim every night. The unit was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Hosts were quick to respond when we had questions. The location is central and made it easy to cruise to all parts of the island. Nice to have our own designated parking spot. We are already talking about booking it again next year!!!

This place was perfect for a girls getaway but would be great for a family also…. It had everything we needed from beach towels, exercise weights and all necessities. We loved sitting on the balcony enjoying the views and even saw some whales playing one evening!!! Highly recommend!

We loved this property and the location! You are centrally located to most destinations. The description and pictures are 100% accurate and was a perfect space for two couples. The added bonus was whale and sea turtle watching every morning. There is a local marina and general store with delicious breakfast options within walking distance. Communication with the owners was a breeze! Mahalo for letting us borrow your space.

Great location in the middle of the island and was quieter than the touristy areas, but still a quite a bit to do. Condo and grounds are beautiful! The condo was equipped with all beach gear you could ever want or need. The view is amazing and the breeze at night off the water was quite lovely. It unfortunately rained heavily the whole time we were on Maui, so more time was spent in the condo than we originally planned to, but the condo and it’s views were so beautiful it did not upset us. We plan to go back to Hawaii with in the next two years and plan to stay here again

We had a great time. The condo was just right for the 4 of us. Although there is not much in Maalaea, except for the harbor and the Maui aquarium, it was only a short drive to Kahului airport and many stores there. Kehei is also a short drive away and Lahaina is ~30 min. drive away. We felt right at home in the condo. The pool and oceanfront location was fun. We saw whales nearly every day form our balcony. Thank you Todd and Stefani!

WOW! The place was amazing. The atmosphere of the place was unique and made our stay feel like home. They provided such great communication for all the details needed from location, how to check-in, house rules, check-out, etc. We communicated with the host and they were wonderful. Most importantly the value of the place was amazing. We can't wait to come back to Maui and stay here again.

The second time staying at this property was even better than the first. It was a great feeling knowing it was clean, in a great location, and had everything we needed before we arrived. The turtle lunch time in front of the condo and the close location to Haycraft Park is a bonus!
It was a hot-hot week, but the breeze was perfect for keeping us cool during the day and night.
Mahalo for the communication and for allowing us to stay at your place!

Perfect location in Maui, not part of the normal tourist area in Kihei. Condo was just as represented in the posting- spacious and well-equipped with a spectacular view of the large balcony. Directions to the unit were clear; accessing it was simple and quick. Will definitely consider staying here again on our next visit.

We had a great time in Maalaea! Accommodations were exactly what we were looking for. The view was great and the unit was comfortable.
We enjoyed the consistent breeze from the ocean and watching sun rises from the balcony.
Walking distance to the harbour for snorkeling tours to molikini crater. Short drive to Kihei for beaches / stores.
Thanks for the memories!

Perfect space for family of 4. Comfortable space. Location is convenient for exploring both sides of the island. Hosts are very accommodating.

Short Stay
This property provides quick access to the airport and would be perfect for a short stay. It is extremely windy in this location and their is a dust problem in the unit as it must remain fully open all the time as it is not air conditioned. We enjoyed the kitchen and laundromat (guest must pay for use). Beds and baths are in need of a refresh, so manage expectations.

We really enjoyed everything about our stay here. The beach towels, chairs and boards available were awesome. Highly recommend.

Penthouse in the Palms with Nightly Sunset Views
What an amazing find in Maui; the glass line in this unit is incredible and the nightly sunset view, surreal. We loved being an easy 15-20 minute drive from the airport, Kihei, Weilea, Lahaina, Makawao, and Paia. It allowed to fully enjoy every excursion and daily jaunt. Flyin Hawaiian Zipline and Kula Farms was just up the street. We enjoyed the beaches of Kihei and Kaanapali, and wined-and-dined in Lahaina and Weilea. Makawao at the base of Haleakala made for great hiking. And we traveled the Road to Hana by beginning our journey in the Town of Paia. The unit was clean, safe, quiet, and easy to access. The upstairs/loft bed was so comfy we didn’t even give the downstairs bed a try. Google Nest surround sound had us dancing in the evenings. And my favorite feature was the ocean-view window from the upstairs shower. Thank you for an unforgettable week.

Ocean front quiet condo
The unit is ocean front, walking distance to the small harbour with shops and restaurants. It's airy so no AC is required. The owners were very responsive. We enjoyed our stay.

Two brothers Anniversary trip!
The four of us celebrated 35 and 45 years of wedded bliss in Maui at this fabulous condo. The perfect location, beautiful scenery! Easy to work with owners who answered all of our questions. We could most definitely stay there again. Condo was beautiful, clean, and super easy to get to. 5 STARS for sure!

Great place to stay on Maui
Wonderful views. Loved the turtles by the sea wall! The unit was very well stocked and communication with the host was great. Would highly recommend this place. No negatives that I can think of except that we didn't have more time there ;)

Paradise has nothing on Maalaea Kai!
My group of five girls stayed here for four nights during our trip to Maui and I have not stopped thinking about this gorgeous gem since. From the moment you walk into Maalaea Kai, you're transported to an STR paradise you didn't think possible (at least, not at this price!). The living room/kitchen area has ceiling to floor windows that offer breathtaking views of the ocean, pool and manicured lawn for your selfie backdrops, plus the balcony is much roomier than the photos suggest. Very easy to relax for hours out there.
At first I was a little nervous about lack of A/C, but there was a big fan in the downstairs bedroom that kept the room nice and cool. And the beds are SO comfortable!
Even though Maalaea Harbor is a more remote location, there's still plenty to see and do within walking distance. We were even able to walk to the harbor for our snorkeling tour to Molokini! And absolutely do NOT leave without eating lunch at Seascape (also walking distance).
A really thoughtful and helpful touch is the plethora of beach towels and other similar beach necessities, found in easily marked boxes under the staircase.
The hosts are very easy to communicate with, and check-in and check-out is a breeze. I would not think twice about staying here again, and hope to in the future!
Thank you so much, Todd and Stefani!

Beautiful and relaxing
This property is beautiful and the owners are super friendly and responsive. Four of us stayed - two adults and two teenagers. There was plenty of room and everything we needed. The owners shared lots of information and recommendations. Everything was perfect and the inexpensive laundry room was a bonus (plus the stash of supplies left for us like napkins, etc... which I never think about). Turn on the fans when you sleep and you'll love the whole stay. Gorgeous view, music of the water, friendly people, and soft sheets and towels... what more do you need?

A perfect stay
This condo had everything we needed for our time on Maui. The location was perfect for exploring the island. Our neighbors were friendly. Communication was clear and very timely. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Location! Great Condo
We loved being in this beautiful and comfortable condo for our family vacation. I was concerned at first about the lack of AC- but soon realized that the trade winds were nearly always blowing! There are also several fans available for additional airflow (I sleep really hot). Communication with the owners was easy and very helpful. The kitchen was very well equipped. So many extras that made our stay great! Boogie boards, snorkeling gear, chairs, cooler, beach towels! We spent a lot of our time on the lanai. The view was amazing and it was large enough for all of us to comfortably be there together.
It is tucked away in a quiet area , but walking distance to shops and restaurants and the beach. We loved it! It was perfect for us.
Overall an amazing rental that we would love to rent again.
