Well kept property, clean,no bugs we noticed!Only real drawback was trucks delivering early morning to Family Fare grocery across the street!

Over all it’s a convenient location, I would recommend trimming back the “landscape “ off the back door and investing in some decent cookware. It’s a fine place to stay if you just need a place to sleep and don’t plan on hanging or cooking at the rental

We were staying for a wedding and it was SUPER close to the ferry. It was close to food and shopping too. There were only two window units for three bedrooms, but the floors were FREEZING. Pack socks.

Homey getaway

This house is so convenient to everything in St. Ignace! Just 5 minutes or less to the ferry docks, restaurants, etc. Other reviewers have correctly noted that the house sits right behind a grocery. We found this quite nice to be able to walk across the street and be inside the grocery store. If you were going further into the UP or into the lower peninsula, the house is about one minute from the I-75 interchange. Communication with the property owners was excellent and thorough.

I am very happy with the improved beds and mattresses in the the twin room, and it appears you took my suggestions from last year to heart! I appreciate that the dusty afghan was taken off the wall!! 😁 The air purifier helped, and the addition of the room air conditioner in the main bedroom was much appreciated by our brother and sister-in-law - as well as the rest of us. The small touches like the extra throw blankets on the bed were lovely, and the house was very clean as usual. Thank you for taking our suggestions seriously and making our stay wonderful again!

The tv or internet didn’t work. Had to pack up and move after first night. Liked the place we moved to but just the frustration of having to unpack then pack and unpack again.

Would Love to Return Again!
This property was great and close to everything. The neighborhood was quiet. Stores were close and the beach was within walking distance to Lake Huron! The houses only had one AC unit in one bedroom, and it was 85-90 degrees in the home, we found fans to be our best friend! We brought our own and thankfully there was plenty in the house to help circulate air. Would love to stay again next time!
Con: The only thing that we didn’t really like was the bathroom doors didn’t have locks, so we all kept walking in on each other! But we made it work overall!

Affordable & Convenient
Really only drawback was limited air conditioning, uncomfortable beds. One bathroom was challenging, but we were able to make it work. Very clean.

I would rent again.
The three bedroom house is clean and bug free. Grocery store is nearby and within walking distance. Neighborhood is mostly quiet except for morning deliveries to the grocery store.
Great alternative if you aren't a fan of vacationers running up and down hallways at all hours of the night. I would rent again if in the St. Ignace area again.

So close to the water!
My husband, brother, his girlfriend, my sister, her boyfriend and I all stayed comfortably in this 3 bedroom house. We loved the fire pit in the backyard, we loved how close the water was to us we walked down there everyday and then went to the shopping that is right up the road also within walking distance. We will definitely be back the house was also so clean and extremely welcoming!! If you’re a younger group that loves to walk this is the house for you the price is amazing for our stay as well.

This was our second stay. Perfect location and house for us .

Nice affordable place
This was a great affordable family option in St Ignace. There were several items in my opinion the owners could cheaply add to make it more comfortable, such as comfortable patio furniture or a dresser/wall decor/bedding in the bedrooms. The kitchen was nice and living room comfortable, and backyard fire pit is nice. The management company was responsive when we needed help with beeping smoke alarms on arrival, but unfortunately not until the next morning. Difficult when check-in time is only an hour from after hours line for the company! A really great option if you plan to be out and about a lot on your trip.

St Ignace
Convenient location, but faces back of grocery and can get a little loud. Not ad but could have been cleaner especially under these unusual circumstances. We would stay here again.

Easy Access To Everything UP
The house was perfect for my family. There was plenty of room for everyone (adults and kids alike!) and the kitchen was comfortable to cook in. Easy access to the island ferries and I-75 made it a great "home base" for everything we wanted to do up north.

Great location for Mackinaw Bridge and Island area
Renting this property through Vrbo was easy. I did leave some comments at location how the rental could be improved on with minimal effort.

Great stay
My family met my parents here for the week. Nice place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but close enough to go visit everyday

Clean, comfortable and a great location!
The house was just a described in the online listing. No surprises. It was clean, comfortable and in a great location for an Upper Peninsula vacation. The kitchen was excellent! The wifi worked well. The TV channel selections were limited but there is a large selection of older movies to watch on DVD. There were three bikes in the garage to use. We didn’t ride them because we brought our own bikes. We took several rides into the Straits State Park which is right across the street. And it only costs $12 to take a bike on the ferry to Mackinac Island for a ride. The house was also perfect for our Golden Retriever. She really enjoyed hanging out on the comfortable front porch. Mackinac Island is very dog friendly. She got lots of attention which is important for Golden Retriever. She gave the house four paws up!

Very convenient and comfortable!
We had six family members staying in this house for the St. Ignace car show and we loved the location! The only drawback was that we only had one bathroom but we managed just fine, and it would have been helpful if there were a couple extra pillows. Also, there wasn’t a fan for the main bedroom which might have made it a bit more comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay, and it was nice to have a place to cook. I was also thankful for the washing machine as there weren’t too many extra towels. It was nice to be able to do our laundry if needed! We enjoyed the convenience of the location for what we were doing. The kitchen was awesome!! This was a beautiful home, and we thank the owners for renting it to us. We would love to come back next year!

Awesome! Stayed 9/9 through 9/13
This was a quaint little house. It was nice to be located so close to St. Ignace, plus we had a grocery store right across the street that carried everything!! Not having central air would definitely be a problem if your stay was during the summer. They provide a window unit, but it's in one room only. It helped to cool most of the house while we were there. There's no cable TV! We could watch NBC and Me TV, which wasn't too bad. The house could use some TLC...paint and new carpet, but otherwise it very nice! Would most definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family!!

Clean, cozy, convenient!
We stayed in St. Ignace to attend a family reunion, and the Johnson's Up North house was a good choice. It's a smaller home, but nice and clean, and very convenient to everything. The house is just off the main highway as you get off the Mackinac bridge, in a quiet neighborhood. Back yard is large and level, surrounded by trees, good for little ones to play. St. Ignace is a more laid back alternative to Mackinac City. Lot's of great shops and restaurants in St. Ignace, beaches and parks, and a great boardwalk along the lake shore that goes past restaurants, the lighthouse, parks and marinas. .
The only negatives- ( all are minor)
1) the grocery store across the street is convenient, but the air conditioners emit a continual hum. Noticeable, but not terrible. We still sat on the nice covered front porch to have lunch, and we soon forgot about it. Inside the house, you can't hear it at all.
2) Lighting. The light fixture over the dining table needs some LED bulbs to boost the brightness. Current bulbs are low wattage due to the type of shades on the fixture, and it's very dim in the room. Bedrooms could also use another lamp or two.
3) Air conditioning. Only a window unit, in the front bedroom. If you are one of the people who can't live without A/C, you might not like this. But most of the time it's not necessary due to the lake breezes. (see below)
Pro's-
1) Clean, nicely decorated, homey
2) Breeze. Almost continual lake breeze. At night, open the windows and no need for air conditioning.
3) Location. Parks, restaurants, beaches, Mackinac bridge, Mackinac Island, lighthouses, all within minutes. Sault St. Marie, Whitefish point, Tahquamenon Falls, Kitchi ti Kipi spring, and much more, all within an hour to hour and a half of driving.
Overall, this was a great, affordable way to be close to everything, and not have to spend most of our budget on pricey hotels. And for me, it's much nicer to come back to a nice little home at the end of the day, rather than pulling into a big, noisy hotel. Thanks to the Johnson's for sharing their home with us, we hope to be back!
Thank you,
The Trese family

Good location because it is convenient to the highway, downtown, groceries, etc.
There is some noise from the delivery trucks to the grocery store across the street.

Perfect Family Getaway
This is the perfect family getaway home. We had 2 adults and 2 children staying here and it was the perfect fit for all of us. It’s incredibly clean and very cozy. It was so convenient to be able to cook a family breakfast before we headed out for our daily adventures. The washer and dryer being available was a nice touch. I know some reviews complained about the lack of cable or satellite tv. I saw this as an advantage more than anything. There were a handful of local tv stations available but we were there for a vacation, not to watch tv. There is a small window air conditioner in the double bed room but it cooled off enough at night that we didn’t even need it. The location of the house is a major advantage. We were able to walk to downtown with no problem. It’s only minutes from the bridge and there’s a supermarket directly across the street. The noisy, early semi deliveries to the store were less than desirable but that’s the only negative I can even come up with. Even the neighbor was friendly and nice enough to tell us about the Saturday night fireworks that were going on. We will definitely return next time we vacation here again.

Very clean, great location and value
We wanted to see Mackinac Island but were on a budget. We decided to stay in St Ignace and found this home available to rent. We were expecting a decent place to stay while there. What we found was a pleasant surprise. It is an older home but well maintained and very clean which is very important to us. It is a quiet neighborhood with a grocery store literally right across the street. You are one block off the main highway that takes to directly to the ferry docks. We had a great time and stayed within our budget. I gave this property 5 stars because of it's cleanliness, location and value.

Great location. The house was nice. 6 of us stayed and didn't have any issues. It was nice having a washer, dryer and full kitchen.

nice place
We arrived to the housse easy to find nice place clean and very homey. I was taken back by the fact it had no air conditioining and there is no cable or dish tv. if you want to watch tv u might want to bring your chrome cast or roku stick. the air they fixed by bringing a in house air conditioner over and it kept us very comfy. the lady was very nice but they never did say anything about why the ad dont say no air and no t.v channels. all in all great place the fire pit was nice and they have 4 bikes there that was nice to use. will go back again. worth the price.

A Great House
We stayed there for four nights during the 4th holiday, and it was GREAT. The check-in process was smooth and the house was very clean. It was spacious and comfortable. Its location is also great--very close to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Leland. Everything in the house (e.g., TV, Wifi, stove) worked perfectly fine.
The only con is there is a tiny pond in the backyard, which seemed not having been taken care of for a long time. It could have been a haven for the mosquitoes. Therefore, it will be great if something can be done to it.
Overall, we enjoyed very much our stay at the house.

Great House!!
This was our first time renting a house on vacation, rather than getting a hotel room. We were extremely pleased with this house. The location could not have been better- within minutes of downtown St. Ignace near the pier, extremely close to the Mackinac Bridge, and walking distance from a grocery store. The size of the house was perfect for our needs- my husband and I were traveling with my sister and her husband. The house was very clean, smelled fresh, and the bed linens were clean and newer (linens looked much nicer than those in the photos online). The house has WiFi, which is great, but I wish I would have brought our laptop and hdmi cable to play netflix on the TV. There is no cable, but there is a small collection of maybe 25-30 DVD's in the TV cabinet. Nice, large kitchen with all of the cooking utensils we could have possibly wanted and more. We were able to save a lot of money by buying groceries and making our own dinners. :) We were especially happy to have a washer and dryer since we went on a long hike that left us quite muddy. Huge backyard with burn pit that we unfortunately did not take advantage of. The 1 car garage was nice to have too! Checking in and out was a breeze with the emailed instructions to get into the lock box on the door. The only complaints we had: the shower head is very low (not a problem for my short sister and I, but my 6 ft brother-in-law had some issues), there is only 1 double bed and the other 3 beds are twin beds (perfect for a family with kids, but not so great for 2 couples), two of the twin beds were not the softest, and the garage door opener did not work. These were all minor issues in our opinion. We did not try to contact the owners to resolve any. Overall, this was a great house to live in for a week while on vacation in St. Ignace, Michigan. Would definitely recommend or stay again in the future!
