Great room, service not at the level it should be

The room was fantastic, very comfortable, and the bath/bathroom really make this a special place to stay.

Despite the positives about the room, a lack of milk (even when promised after we chased) and far from ideal electrics - a couple of light switches didn't work - just took the gloss off.

What a beautiful find

Beautiful room in a great location, the bath was perfect after a long day walking. Bed comfy and staff were lovely

Nothing to dislike just be mindful of you have luggage has to be carried up steap stairs

Great hotel with lots going on around it to explore.

The room was lovely, nicely finished and very spacious. The whole hotel was very clean.

It was very loud outside but I knew it would be as it is above a pub so I can’t complain. The Smithfield meat market workers were quite loud in the early hours too.

being in something typical....

Attention to detail and I presume to order a room I received another. The night noise from the near market. The soap bottle reutilised without wash them. All things that can be sorted if they pay more attention.... There's a great value.... So guys come on!!!!

Comfortable stay, lovely historic pub.

Easy to find, lovely historic pub with a comfortable room and very tasty breakfast. Despite being an old place, it had all mod-cons and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The air conditioning in the room was very welcome as it was a hot day. The staff were also able to keep our bags for us for a few hours after we'd checked out, which meant we could explore locally a bit longer before our onward travel. It was at the pricier end of our budget but I'd happily stay here again.

The cold tap in the bathroom ran warm and the window wasn't frosted which was a little disconcerting as the bathroom was overlooked by a balcony opposite.

Superb

The location is perfect for exploring London. It was easy to access by train. The pub is perfect for dinner and a pint. The staff was very friendly and the room - although small was well appointed.

Would definitely stay again.

Lovely rooms. Good selection of snacks/minibar. Very clean 👌 Aircon in bedrooms.

Access could be a little tricky if you have mobility issues as quite a few stairs to climb, but not an issue for us.

Great experience and nifty room!

everything. it was the coolest room I’ve stayed in. super fun and the staff at the pub were great.

Just be aware there are some steep steps to go up to get you your room, no elevates.

Lovely, quirky, individual

Location was great - easy to get to. Took a cab from BANK station - but walked back the following day

Very dissappointing

Location is great-that was the reason for booking it. Also very effective Air con which made a nice change.

Previous guest sanitary products left on bathroom floor. On both stays bathroom light bulbs needed replacing but no spares avaialble, so no adequate light near any mirrors. Curtains hanging off the hooks both stays. Damanged battered furniture in both rooms. Safe not working but no one availabe to fix it-fundamental and would not stay there again for that alone. Bedroom lights didn't work, only bed side lights. If there is a knack then tell people-that is basic customer service. Bathroom sink blocked-cleaners must have known this on cleaning bathroom...makes you wonder if it was cleaned. I gave it a second chance because of the location but it is low quality and therefore over priced

A bathrobe would be great to chill in the room. it was a little cold and just for one night didn’t bring any casual clothes to change into.

Great place to stay if you don't mind a bit of noise

Great staff, comfortable bed, brilliant shower, well stocked minibar, good size and design. Internet worked fine. Would have loved a drink in the pub as it looked lovely but didn't have the time.

Minor issues were: noise from outside, a small leak in the bathroom left corner, everything else was perfect.

“Dickensian” gem!

Great little pub with rooms that are wonderfully authentic. Staff made us feel welcome, good location for tubes and the Barbican. Look out for your chocolate fox

Minor point but the sink plumbing needs a bit of attention, but what a great bathroom
