Very nice and welcoming hosts! Great breakfasts!
The family apartment is the only place where one can get a private bathroom and it is up a narrow staircase. We were very glad that the hosts helped us with our heavy suitcases!!
There were no chairs to sit upon in the room, so the bed (a bit low to the floor) was the only option! Fortunately, we are fairly flexible, but those with mobility issues should take note!
Bedside reading lamps would also have been welcome.

Seongmi and Yoshi were great help to discover the region and interesting spots around.
Logging is clean, quiet and comfortable.
Breakfast is ok, but I had better.
4.7
Cosy, warmhearted place in a traditionally restored bed & breakfast run by amazing host couple that made you feel very welcome. The town has multiple onsens to try out via voucher provided in this b&b.

The staff (Seongmi & Yoshi ) were tireless to provide everything that was needed for a great stay.
Also, in the arrival day, there was a typhoon hitting Kyoto and if it wasn't for Yoshi contacting us and letting us know how to proceed and which routes to take to Yudanaka, we would have probably end up stuck in Kyoto for a few days.
The room was perfect, exactly as expected.
Yoshi and Seongmi provided great tips during all our stay, not only for things to do/eat in the region, but also for the rest of our trip.

Beautiful and friendly place for the moments of pausing

Everything exceded my expectations, the cleanliness, of all areas was more than I expected. The couple was extremely kind, caring and loving. The breakfast had almost all homemade, extremely good. If I would have to rate the overall performance between 1 to 10 it would be 100. Hope to keep up a long lasting friendship!!!!
The Onsen experience was awesome. If you get to consider going to the Monkey Park don’t hesitate in doing so, it was amazing!! Thanks for enforcing me to do so!! Thanks for all!!! We had a wonderful dinner together!!!
Everything was excellent. Nothing to change!!
Make the next stay longer to enjoy more!!

We had a wonderful stay at Aibiya in July. The room is spacious and comfortable. The hosts are super nice and speak perfect English. They were very helpful recommending restaurants. The breakfast is very tasty. We got to taste their home made apple jam from locally grown apples. Yummy! We also tried the onsen at a hotel nearby. We walked to and from the Monkey Park. The hike up was warm, but still manageable. We found a hot footbath along the way in a neighbouring village.

The hosts were fabulous
Large rooms. Clean and open. Excellent for cooking and hanging out.

Great hospitality! The recommendations from Yoshiki and Seongmi (particularly Yoroduya onsen and the side trip to Obuse) were extremely helpful.
Nothing during my stay.

A gorgeous find in the heart of Yudanaka. A great base for you to explore Yamanouchi. Contemporary, modern guest house with traditional details. Super cosy and comfy room, with chilled hosts who always take the time to chat to you.
Wish I had stayed longer!

Location, comfortable beds, the breakfast, the owners were so lovely, the shop at the front.

It was a short stay but Yoshi and Seonmi were lovely hosts, convenient location to onsens, cosy rooms and would love to be back!
4.7
The hosts were really friendly and made great recommendations about local activities and places to eat to help us plan our stay. The hosts were very welcoming to our children, and I could see that they had a great interaction with all the other guests that were also staying. The place was very clean and comfortable, and the European breakfast suited us well.
4.7
The location was great. breakfast was also great. bed was good! Perfect public transport facilities around.
I was expecting a bit more privacy as it is advertised as a hotel. I would rather call it a guest house as it seems more interaction with owners/other guests is somehow expected.
4.7
Cosy and comfortable. Ideally located for Snow Monkeys, Onsen, or skiing at any of the local ski fields. The hosts take great pride in their establishment and look after all their customers exceptionally well.
Having to leave.

The place was a beautiful ryokan newly refurbished. It had a very Japanese feel with the timber walls and floors. It is very well located on a nice street close to the train station. Many restaurants and onsens close by. The hosts Yoshi and Seongmi were excellent and super helpful.

clean, hospitable host introducing amazing onsen and tasty sushi

Fantastic homestay in Yudanaka. Yoshi and Seongmi run an excellent homestay. They are very kind and friendly, and extremely helpful in terms of planning activities and giving you recommendations on great places to eat and drink. The building itself is beautiful, spotlessly clean, and very cozy. There is a full size kitchen for your use if you desire. There is a light breakfast every morning with good coffee. There is no onsen on site, but they have arrangements with 3 nearby onsen that you can visit for a very reasonable cost (and also a private onsen they can make a reservation for you at). An excellent place to stay if you are going to visit the snow monkeys, ski/board at one of the mountains in the area, or just explore Yudanaka and the nice small towns nearby. We hope to return here soon!
Nothing at all!
4.7
Beautiful welcoming guesthouse in the mountains run by Seongmi and Yoshi who were incredibly lovely and helpful throughout. Loads of great recommendations for things to do and see, and places to eat. Literally every single recommendation was brilliant. Helped us navigate local onsen and what to do there etc and would definitely recommend these too. Our room was the superior double and it was spacious with lots of storage, rails for clothes and heater for the winter. It was very clean with tatami floors, comfortable beds with very warm duvet. Air conditioning unit also. Beautifully designed room and house in general. Breakfast was comforting continental style, breads, butter and jam, fruit, coffee and juice. Incredible apples. Cosy living room area. Showers were great and very clean - didn't ever have trouble getting in. Lots of bathrooms around as well so I wouldn't worry at all about not having a separate bathroom. Laundry room was really handy and cheap - washer and separate dryer, was ok for us to use our own washing capsules from home too but they having washing powder too.
Nothing we didn't like at all but something that would be good to be aware of is that sound does travel (it's a friendly guesthouse, not a massive anonymous soundproofed hotel) so need to keep noise down and be considerate.

Yoshi and Seongmi were very helpful right from the start, and rang us to help work out transport times to avoid us missing the last train connection to Aibiya. As it was early season some slopes remained close so Yoshi would help us check each morning the slopes that were opened so we could plan our day, and he just generally provided really good practical advice.
Vicinity to eateries was marvellous, all very homestyle and a lovely Japanese experience. Some google translating was necessary but we got along just fine with the menus' pictorial guidance. Very happy to immerse in the experience, and go with the flow. An adventure, if you will.
The outdoor onsen at Yurodoyu is a gem that pictures do no justice to - just do remember to observe the etiquette if you do make it there. The famous Shibu onsen is a treat, even if just to wander through.
Yoshi and Seongmi have made Aibiya a lovely place, and their hospitality shines through. They have really thought through their approach, and made Aibiya a home away from home with many little touches. We were happy to return to the lodge each day after a full day on the slopes, sometimes cook an easy dinner as the facilities are fantastic, chill out and share the days' highlights.
We went for a holiday and came back with memories and the bonus of having made friends.
The schlep to the slopes can get a bit much on the public bus (Powder Express), but the slopes are a true treat once you get there.

Super helpful owners that made you feel like family. Only stopped by for a short day trip and now i wish i stayed for longer. Quaint little ryoukan with tons of amenities like a game/recreation room, a dining room and washing services all situated within the premises. The rooms were cozy and we have no complaints.

We spent two nights in this place. The hosts welcomed us warmly and gave a lot of tips and are easy to talk. The room was comfortable and well decorated. Special mention to the breakfast, it was a really nice stay there.
Nothing!

A very nice family guesthouse where you feel welcome from the first minute of arrival. The very friendly owner gives you useful information about activities, restaurants and other attractions nearby. Breakfast was simple but delicious and with local products. Very convenient is the short distance to the train/bus station

Yoshi and Seongmi were an absolute delight. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. From scheduling reservations, telling us about bus times, to driving us to snow monkey park when we missed our bus, they truly did everything they could. Aibiya is the perfect mix of modern and traditional with tons of great food options around. Not to mention the great breakfast every morning. We hope to be back again!
