Marvellous Maltser's
Impressive, characterful house in excellent location, close to Ludlow centre with its quirky independent shops, interesting castle and wide range of cafes and restaurants. House itself clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, with cavernous main bathroom and comfortable living room. Kitchen pretty well-equipped and dining table large enough to fit our party of 8 for meals. Outside space small but appreciated BBQ. Bedrooms comfortable and decor in keeping with style of property, though no ensuite (see below). Fabulous property overall.
Welcome pack appreciated, though perhaps some food items celebrating Ludlow's famous food heritage would have been preferred over a bottle of Asda wine and a small milk. Nice wine, mind! For parties not all from same family (though obviously friends) having just two bathrooms and no bedrooms with no ensuite was a little inconvenient at times, though main bathroom was huge. Even a small separate toilet would be useful. Bath in main bathroom also rather small considering opulent feel of house and bathroom. Plenty of crockery, though knife selection could be better and a few glasses in cupboard had marks on them.

Ideal place for a family gathering and plenty to do in the local area, accessible without a car.
The location was great because it is close to the station and to the town centre - which is a hidden gem with black and white galleried buildings and a market. Plenty of places to eat in the area. It was perfect for a family get-together because we were all travelling from different parts of the UK. Ideally we would stay at the same place again - there is plenty of room for the 8 of us to entertain ourselves if the weather had been bad. I really liked the independent shops.
These are niggles. It would have been useful to know in advance that the owners didn't want us to wear shoes indoors on the cold hard floors. I have arthritic ankles and the cold made it flare up. If I'd known I would have brought slippers with me. I also couldn't find any matches to start the wood fire - everything else was there. Sykes Cottages had not made it clear that it was costing us the same price for two nights as for the week which made it pricier than ideal.

Very good
The property was beautifully located and was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. It would better suit a family than our group of friends.
Parking was free for one car, if a space was available. Other parking was some distance away. There were only 2 bathrooms and we were 8 adults, only 2 of whom related. The ground floor bathroom was linked to the bedroom and door to bedroom did not lock. I realise it’s a lovely, historic property but think the enormous upstairs bathroom could become 2 bathrooms and the downstairs one should be lockable.

Lovely house in a fabulous location.
Nice welcome with a bottle of wine and tea / coffee. Friendly helpful host. Comfortable spacious hose with comfy beds and plenty of living room space too. Location full of things to do within a few mintues walking distance or a short drive Fantastic area for walking and cycling. Lovely shops.
Only two bath/shower rooms / loos was a bit restrictive sometimes when the house is full.

The house was very clean and so well equipped, decorated within the character of the building and all the towels and bedding were of a high quality, great position for the town, Would definitely recommend.
We only stayed for 3 nights
