Enjoy this private beach located at the opening of Mitchell Bay on the western side of San Juan Island. This home comfortably sleeps 6 people. It has two bedrooms, an extra sleeping room and two bathrooms. It is perfect for families, or a few couples wanting to relax and enjoy island life. This house has a strict 'no shoes inside' policy.
Upon entry to the home on the main level, you will find a queen-sized bedroom to your right. Across the hall will be a full bathroom. The home opens to the kitchen, dining, and living room space. The kitchen is very well equipped for preparing family meals. The dining table has a fantastic view out the large water-facing windows with ample seating for 6. Guests may also want to utilize the breakfast bar with seating for 5.
The living room offers two cozy couches facing the TV cabinet, which holds the satellite receiver as well as a DVD / VHS player and a selection of DVD's and VHS tapes. Unfortunately, the fireplace is not for guest use.
The upstairs of the home is equipped with a bedroom, an extra sleeping room and a 3/4 bathroom. The primary bedroom has a queen-sized bed with a large dressing-table and closet. The extra sleeping room is equipped with 2 sets of bunk beds and a queen bed, however, the maximum occupancy of this home still remains at 6 guests total.
Enjoy relaxing on the gorgeous deck while taking in the panoramic view of the bay and privately shared beach area. Guests can utilize the outdoor grill on beautiful San Juan summer evenings.
The house is ideally located and close to both Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor, approximately a 15-minute drive to either town. This area boasts many nearby hikes and parks including: English Camp, Young Hill, Bell Point, Roche Harbor Frisbee Golf Course, or the Westcott Bay Oyster Farm.

Only 2 issues were old sunken mattress in main floor bedroom, and tv not smart. Mattress on second floor bed is excellent, but on warm days it’s very warm up there. We don’t watch a lot of tv, but did want to watch a football game which was only available on espn+. Otherwise very happy with house and location.

The listing is spot on. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful. Easy to put out kayak in from the beach. Nice gravel beach, easy access. It would be nice if there was a privacy hedge planted between the neighbors. One of the neighbors is the owner of the unit. Overall great stay.

We had a wonderful time staying in this home. It had everything we needed. It was wonderful to launch my surfski right there and paddle the haro straight. There are also calm areas to paddle to the left of the property. Great “base camp” with an easy drive to Lime Kiln and Friday harbor. Remote, quiet, very peaceful, and clean.

We loved it - from beginning to end. The location was amazing - with the semi-private beach right in front of us - lovely sunsets.
It had everything we needed - even a basketball court for our 3 boys (20, 17, and 14) ... who spent a fair amount of time playing there too.
The only thing we would have liked better would have been the water pressure in the showers - especially the upstairs shower ... Don't know if there's a fix for that, but it was pretty whimpy .... but other than that, it was perfect. We'd definitely come back again!

Great time, visited English Camp. Hiked to to scenic overlook about 1.7 miles. Great local food, celebrated my youngest’s 30th bd at Duck Soup. Saw 2 whales right off the properties beach! It was a great yomdd we with family.

This was a beautiful location to stay at. The only thing we wished for was bigger beds.
The internet was not reliable so working while visiting wouldn’t be possible, but with the views you wouldn’t want to work anyway. Beautiful home. The house was very clean and the location was very quiet. Would definitely stay again.

We invited my nephew and his family to visit us on San Juan but our circumstances changed and I needed to find alternate housing for them. Having them in the Open Bay Beach was the perfect answer. They had a fabulous time and take away great memories of their visit.

The location really can't be beat. The beach is at your door, and its lovely. Convenient to Wescott, Roche, Lime Kiln, Mount Young and Grant, and the Alpacas. Town is just twenty minutes.
One oddity: there were just four of us so the upstairs bathroom layout wasn't an issue. However, if there were another couple in the second bedroom upstairs, they would have to pass through the other upstairs bedroom when gong to use the bathroom. Should be a hallway with a door into the main bedroom.

Beautiful property, location, scenery. It was around 90 degrees the first 2 days and i asked about a fan. I told property management i would have to go to ACE and buy a box fan myself, they never responded or offered to bring one, therefore we bought a $50 box fan. The water pressure in the showers is amost null, to the point it needs attention. Pressure is good in sinks and toilets.
Otherwise it was a lovely stay in every other way.

We stayed at the Open Bay Beach Home for a week in May. It was like a home away from home, with everything we needed. Lots of extra space and can easily accommodate 6 guests. There were only two of us, and for a couple of days 3 of us. Two levels made this very nice with just two, or more. very clean and everything was ready when we arrived, with easy instructions and check in. Beach is nice, gravel beach. Although there neighboring homes, we never saw anyone else. Easy access by short drives to Friday Harbor, and other parts of San Juan Island, including several very nice state parks. Suggest visiting the Lime Kiln state park, which also has a very nice whale watching overlook, with several picnic tables for lunch. Weather in May in Washington can be very rainy but our stay was very nice weather, only rained one day out of 8.

We had a fantastic time. The house was clean, well laid out and had the most spectacular views. It was awesome to just walk down a few steps to beach. Even though we shared the beach with the house next door, we had the place to ourselves and our kids could have played in the rocks and explored the tide pools for hours. We can’t wait to come back in the summer and enjoy the deck and sunnier weather!

really nice property, great location. We were lucky that neither neighboring properties were occupied as they are very large and each could have had 10 people. The aerial photo currently being used does not show the new property next door which is very close. Overall a very comfortable home! Used only the downstairs bedroom which was large and fine but it only had a small double bed, could have used a larger bed here. It was great to have a bath with a tub and another bath upstairs with a shower!! Maybe could have used luggage racks. Also could have used detailed instructions on how to work the television and a better lamp in the living room. Thank you for letting us use this amazing house!

This westside water location provided a beautiful spot to enjoy leisurely mornings and evenings at home. We were fortunate neighbors were not there making it very private. There are homes on both sides of the property now that the picture does not show. The home itself was comfortable. Lighting was challenging for reading at night. We brought this up with property management along with a few other issues that I'm sure will be easily addressed for future stays. This why I gave four stars for the first two questions.

Perfect beach house
We had a perfect short getaway staying at open bay. The house is perfectly situated on the beach with a private dock to enjoy the sunset. We saw a group of sea otters off the shore just like another reviewer said. The house was clean and comfortable and had more than enough seating for dinning and relaxing. They have a fireplace but it had a sign not for guest use, the only down side to the property for us, although it wasn’t quite fire season so we didn’t mind! We will for sure be coming back!

Open Bay Beach house is really well situated on the island - very close to Roche Harbor (5-10 minutes for groceries, meals, etc.), English Camp (Young Hill - great hike), and Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm. The house is very comfortable and relaxing - it has a great deck overlooking the bay, which we enjoyed for meals and playing cards in the evening. The private beach was amazing - our boys loved exploring the tidal pools and catching crabs. We saw otters, harbor seals and bald eagles. We also really enjoyed playing pickle ball. We never turned on the TV. Just a great place - the owners were very kind and we enjoyed visiting with them.
We did some great hikes on San Juan Island, including American Camp and Mt. Finlayson. We also ferried to other islands to explore. One of our favorite excursions was a half-day / sunset sailing trip through All Aboard Sailing - highly recommend. We left out of Friday Harbor, sailed around various islands and saw all sorts of wildlife - unfortunately, we did not see any whales. Maybe next time.

The house fully met our needs for 4 adults and 2 children. The little beach and dock were fantastic for kayaking and paddle boarding. The deck was great. The views, particularly at sunset, were amazing.

Our family stayed here for a week at the beginning of May. The location was great - felt private - and was still only 10 minutes from Roche harbor and maybe 2o from Friday Harbor. We brought our kayaks and it was so easy to walk them down to the private beach and explore the harbor. We had seals poking their heads up to say hi! The kids LOVED it. Although there are houses on either side we didn't see anyone at either place all week long. Just lots of deer. :) My son loved playing basketball on the court, and we explored tide pools at the houses private beach. It was a fantastic trip all around. We went out and played, explored, ate and hiked everyday and this was such a fantastic place to come back to. Highly recommend.
