Great location, fun and social but temperature control needs attention

Great location close to the beach and the main centre. Good communal areas and large well stocked kitchen. Spacious dorm. Very friendly staff. Good entertainment schedule. Reliable wifi.

Extremely cold dorms - I asked for a blanket on my second night but didn’t get it until I asked again on the third night. The staff member commented that they were running low as lots of people had asked for them (maybe a good indicator that the air con - controlled centrally by reception - was down too low! Multiple people in my dorm were sleeping in sweaters!)

Beautiful spot but too expensive for a mixed 8 bed dorm hostel...

too expensive for one bed in a mixed dorm with 8 beds... too expensive for a hostel. and I stayed in many, this was the furthest most expensive.

staff were unhelpful and rude. The kitchen and shared bathroom facilities were not clean and lacking basic utilities that are typically provided at hostels (minimum cooking utensils, no hooks/space in bathrooms etc)

The only nice thing about this hostel is perhaps the location. The rooms and pool are run down and not clean, the common kitchen is the most dirty place I have ever seen, with almost no functioning supplies. They play loud music till late at night, so there is no way to get a good night sleep. The staff is not very helpful, on top of all they charged my card with 30$ too much when paying for a shuttle. One month later I have yet to see any money given back to me despite multiple emails and reaching out to both the hostel and Selina office. I chose to stay here because other Selina locatins has been great, but I must recommend that you stay elswhere, especially if you don’t like your money being stolen!

it’s alright

the hostel is pretty central - close to bars, restaurants, the beach etc

it’s a bit noisy in the night and the hostel isn’t really a big thing in it self

Great pool, wonderful free yoga sessions, lively atmosphere, great place to hang out and meet people.

Fast and Furious

All of the staff were super courteous and helpful with anything you needed. E,g,. Directions, places of interest, good restaurants and so forth. The Italian restaurant is awesome - the portions were too big for one person. Nordico coffee was the best in specialty and choice.

TOO MANY Gringos. Good god…..it was like I never left the west. I could feel resentment in the air when walking around town ….because gringos bring their culture with them. Instead of using Spanish, assimilating and trying to blend in. Especially Americans…..loud, pushy and patronizing. I’m never coming back to TamaGringo.

This is always my favorite place, my receptionist was not so friendly, maybe I was not having a good day, then I got someone else from the staff who helped me with where to park and questions, the bar staff was not very friendly, this one is not It was my favorite hotel.

The staff in general was not very friendly, the rooms were quite far away, the bathroom a bit uncomfortable because there were many of us and there was only one bathroom, complicated

Great community activities for free. Yoga for free. Pool and common area! People are amazing! Location great!

Way too expensive! The hostel ist so expensive for just a mixed dorm. Otherwise a cool place!

Good!

I love the location close to supermarkets, restaurants and everything! Also the guys in reception were very nice and kind!

I just have one comment about the food the day I arrived I ordered a hamburger and the meat was not well cooked. The day after I took the breakfast that was included in the reservation, they have a lot of options that was great, but I order an egg sandwich and the same the egg was not well cooked I recommend to eat out, I went to panda restaurants it was cheap, well cooked!!

Weren't allowed to use tables outside to eat breakfast as was for restaurant, only outdoor table available was by the smoking pit, 2 ladies in our room came in at 5AM and were chatting in thr bathroom. Huge property and not many places to sit and chill, not a huge community environment for solo traveller, maybe if you're with a group of friends there to party

Very good

*The receptionists were super professional, kind and helpful. *Great atmosphere and platform to meet new people. * the breakfast was really good and worth the money. * I have booked surfing through Selina - was fabulous! * live music and all the organized activities are super nice. * Button line - had a really great time there!

* the first standard room that I got was awful - moldy smell and difficulty to breath, the shower was clocked. Very bad experience. *After the first night, Selina changed my room. Much better experience and well maintained. * In general, Selina should maintained better the living area - the big wall between selina area and the outside was super green moldy, the concrete path to the room was moldy as well. If you will clean it once a year, I'm sure it will improve the atmosphere significantly. * There are not a lot of private area to work remotely.

Not even a coat hanger on the bathroom and it was constantly a swamp. Where are you supposed to put your towel and clothes? The parking lot is a slum and needs heavy work

Pleasant

Very nice staff. Good beds and near to the beach and almost everything in Tamarindo.

We didn't expect to be in the middle of the partyarea and hearing music from 8pm till 6am.. I guess they can book you a shuttle to for example monteverde, but we found out they charge extra 10$, because we booked online on get your guid or the actuall shuttlehomepage (I don't remember) and we paid less.

Great property but kinda expensive for what you get.

Great location, good food menu (expensive though), nice pool area, tasty cocktails and friendly staff!

The bathrooms of the small dorms are very very old. Toilet was falling apart, mirror broken, shower curtain ripped, only cold water, no soaps etc. Don’t expect a lot!

it was spacious, close to the beach and the nightlife.

There are quite a few rules here, there wasn’t a place o eat outside and we got told we couldn’t bring in outside in when it was pouring with rain.

Got a little noisy late at night. I'm staying at Selena Jaco now and really like the privacy curtains. I wish they would use them here
