Surrounded by tall pines and just minutes from Yosemite's southern entrance in the residential community of Fish Camp, This unique mountain cabin can be your family-friendly home away from home while exploring the natural beauty of Yosemite National Park. The Little Pine cabin is the smaller of two cabins at the Yosemite Forest Lodge.
To get here it's just a short drive off of Highway 41, through the forest along a narrow road that was once a railroad right-of-way. When you arrive you'll find your home situated in a gently-sloped clearing surrounded by a majestic grove of gigantic pines. Outside your home there is an open yard area, a private deck and covered porch areas so you can enjoy the forest environment comfortably in any weather.
It's best to contact us by email but you can also call and leave a message if you prefer. When checking our calendar remember that we normally need a full calendar day between groups in order to prepare the house. Happy planning!
The elevation here is just over 5000 feet; it is nearly always cool and shady in the summer, with comfortable daytime highs that average in the 70's (~20 degrees Celsius) and cool evenings with average lows in the low 50's (~10 degrees Celsius). There is very little or no rain during the summer months. The low humidity means your towels and swimsuits will air-dry quickly.
Our prime location puts you away from the crowds, yet close to everything Yosemite has to offer. The southern entrance to Yosemite is less than two miles up the road. If you love the outdoors, this is the place to call home. There is so much do to here that you could easily fill your day with excitement without ever entering the park itself!

We loved this cabin. It had everything that we needed and more. The washer and dryer were definitely a plus. We would highly recommend it to others!

We loved our stay at Little Pine. The caretaker was very responsive and helpful and the place was clean and stocked well and absolutely perfect for our needs. I was a bit worried about no air conditioning but they are absolutely correct in saying that air is not needed. It was very cool and comfortable. I guess that’s the mountain climate.

Overall really liked this property. Great location near Yosemite. Only knock was the no A/C but overall wasn’t too bad at night when it cooled off. I would stay there again for sure.

Cabin was in the perfect location and was quiet. Parking was convenient and the cabin had everything we needed. David was great at responding quickly to any concerns and was helpful on letting us know the details of getting to Yosemite from the property.

My husband and I appreciated the convenience of this VRBO mainly for its proximity to Yosemite's south entrance, as well as the comfortable accommodations. The cabin was clean, simply appointed and quaint, and we received effective and timely communication from the owners.

Beautiful, comfortable little cabin placed serenely in the woods very close to the south entrance of Yosemite. My dog loved walking around the area and we much enjoyed our stay.

Loved the setting of the Little Pine Cabin! It was homelike and comfortable. The kitchen was updated and bright, and had everything we needed. The bathroom, however, could use an update and needs more space…maybe a renovation to take part of the bedroom closet and add that space to bathroom, but we appreciated that there were plenty of big fluffy towels and plenty of hot water!

My partner and I stayed here for a weekend. We are night owls and heard rodents in the ceiling past midnight. There were a few spiders in the sink and tub when we arrived but it was a nice small space for us to stay.
We both haven’t lived in snowy areas and were happy to see this property still had snow after a few weeks no snowfall and in 30’s-40’s F. Will note it was melting but if you’re looking with the same weather prepare for snow.
There are physical keys provided, once using the code into the house on arrival.
The host do have another larger house on the same property. This property is also in a closer knit neighborhood, can see neighbors through trees, and there is a security camera on the front porch facing the road.
Over all a great place to stay! Would book again.

It was a quaint, comfortable cabin with most everything you’d have at home, and beautiful scenery. We saw deer in the mornings and enjoyed the proximity to Yosemite and other good hikes. Our 2 dogs were happy to come along on this vacation too. We would love to stay here again.

we stayed whiled visiting Yosemite. This location is so close to the park entrance. But understand once you enter the gate, its still a beautiful winding road drive for about 45 minutes. There is plenty of amenities near by as well. Great spot would rent there again.

I stayed in this cabin with my two teenage sons. Just the right size and plenty of space for the three of us. Location is great as it is just a couple miles from the south entrance of Yosemite. Neighborhood is quiet and charming. Neighbors are friendly and we learned a little bit about what its like to live in Fish Camp. Everything in the cabin works (great wifi!) and we were quite comfortable. I would stay again and I will recommend to others.

We loved our stay at Little Pine Cabin! We just wanted to keep with the outdoor / forest vibe during our Yosemite hiking trip and avoid the hotel/touristy feel. This place definitely delivered on what we wanted, and the owner David was extremely communicative when needed. It's a 2 minute drive off of Hwy 41, that drives straight into Yosemite, and about 5-10 minutes from the parks entrance near Mariposa Grove that has the large Sequoia trees. We felt that it was a perfect location and about as close as your going to get without actually staying inside the park. If you're going hiking like we did, start your drive around 5-5:30 am into the park to avoid the lines at entrance, get good parking at trailheads, and avoid the crowds at trail summits! What a fantastic trip! David thanks so much for sharing your place with us :)

This was my husband and my first time to Yosemite National Park. We stayed a week and this little cabin was perfect and so was the location. We also enjoyed that Sierra National Forest was so close and that it was not far from Oakhurst, a larger city with grocery stores and restaurants. We would choose this cabin again!

We had a great stay: the Little Pine cabin had everything we needed and was a perfect retreat after the day of hiking. Fish camp is as close as it gets to Yosemite’s South Gate and the majestic Mariposa Grove. Oakhurst was also a short drive with terrific food. Signage and directions from the property owners was super clear and made things easy.

This property was comfortable in the morning and evenings. However, with no AC the afternoon hours at the end of July were sweaty. Great location. And Jackalope restaurant at Tenaya Lodge has exquisite food.

We loved the cabin.
Beautiful scenery on all 4 sides. No shared walls, ceiling or floor means a very quiet cabin. Will definitely stay here again. We left some clothing in one of the drawers, and owner was very cooperative with arranging his caretaker to mail the items back to us.

Home away from home
Cozy cabin tucked away in the quiet town of Fish Camp, CA. All the little amenities like toothpaste, soap, cleaning supplies, extra linens, etc. were definitely a plus. This cabin was definitely the perfect place to warm up and dry off after playing in the cold wet snow all day and not have to drive home a few hours away. Will definitely come back again 😊

Half Dome Hiker
David and Suzanne have a wonderful little cabin that truly feels like home away from home. It was such a comfort to retreat to their cabin after a long, exhausting day hiking in Yosemite and find as many amenities available as you would in your own home. Just a short drive into Yosemite or neighboring towns for groceries and restaurants, I highly recommend staying at their Little Pine Cabin.

Great place to stay near Yosemite
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cute little cabin. It is older, but clean, and it has everything you need under the sun including kitchen utensils, kitchen spices, bath linens, and more. The washer and dryer was very nice to have. The shower has great pressure, the bed was comfortable, and the porch was awesome for relaxing with our coffee in the morning. To top it off, it is located less than 10 minutes from the park’s south entrance. We were in heaven staying at this place and recommend it 100%. Take note that the cabin has no A/C, but opening both of the windows in the bedroom at night was perfect, and we slept comfortably. Running both the box fans also helps circulate the air. Thankfully the temps at night are very cool! We had a wonderful stay, and we were sad to leave!

Fish camp stay for Yosemite mother/daughter trip
We loved our stay at this cute one bedroom home, conveniently located 5 minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite. It's a quiet forest setting, and feels very private, even though it's situated behind another larger house on the property. The house was clean and cozy and with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of extra bedding. It was a great place to come home to after a long day of hiking in Yosemite.

Convenient and Homely
Great location to take your family! General store right around corner is convenient but pricey. House was stocked with all the necessities plus some. Cabin was cozy and felt like grandma’s house! Check in and out was a breeze! Definitely recommend!

Enjoyed our stay
This cabin was a great place for us to go for a Yosemite getaway. Pros: Very near the south entrance to the park, with a convenient general store nearby. All the things you would need, including a coffee pot, washer dryer, microwave, etc., were present. Owners are very responsive to questions. Cons: As others have mentioned, if the cabin has been vacant too long there may be a smell of something akin to kerosene or gas, coming perhaps from the central heating unit. Opening the windows and airing it out helped and after the first day it was no longer an issue. The oven did not seem to cook our pizza well--may be a thermostat issue. The nearby neighbors love to burn pine needles and this creates a white smoke that you can't avoid.

A most convenient and fun place to stay
Very nice place and a beautiful hour plus drive to the valley. We stayed during coldish time and as another reviewer wrote, its better to not have the heater on- because its in the middle of the floor and the propane has a strong smell. But electrical heaters are more than adequate and this was the only issue. The place is really well equipped-great to cook with lots of supplies , very comfortable bed, and fits two people- and our big dog - very well. Cleaning people were there because we arrived a little early and they were wonderful and went out of their way to help us. Gorgeous drive to the valley and the entrance to the park is only a couple of minutes away.

Cozy, clean cabin. 2 miles away from the Southern entry of the Yosemite park. Peaceful with trees and friendly neighbors. The only recommendation we have is to add to the arrival instruction the cabin number is A or B. We found two cabins with the same address with an A and B differentiator. We were not sure which cabin will be for us.
