**This is a Shared Duplex-style functionality custom home** Please note this custom log home has a duplex functionality to it, with the main portion of the home open and private to guests, with their own separate private entrance. One side of the home is used as the owner's walled-off and insulated quarters, which are accessed via a separate exterior entry door on the opposite side of the home. The owner may be residing there during your stay, but will fully respect your privacy and peace with little to no interaction besides a quick welcome hello or passing in the driveway, as there would be in any duplex housing scenario. There are no shared living spaces, ensuring the privacy of renters. The owner will not enter the main portion of the home used by guests, except for emergencies/safety, and avoids outdoor deck, porch, fireplace, and yard areas as well. Please refer to the house blueprints shaded green/red (in the photos section), which depicts the house layout. Guests should book under the assumption that the owner may bestaying in the owner's/inlaw apartment section, but if he's gone then the complete property privacy should be considered an added free bonus. In 2013 the owner built a smaller log 2 bedroom chalet in Wilmington intended as a residence but turned into a full time vacation rental home, this home is a hybrid solution to financing a new home and have a residence also. The owner Johnathan Esper is very well known and regarded throughout the Adirondack region through his landscape photography of the Adirondacks, as well as community ties, and has no criminal background.
Under some circumstances and with special request and consideration, the owner's apartment section totaling about 700 sq ft with additional queen bed, full 2nd kitchen, bath, living room, log spiral staircase, and balcony with mountain views) may be requested to be rented out as well, giving the group not only extra living space but also assured complete grounds and property privacy. If this option is sought and granted, we charge an extra nightly surcharge of $400/night which includes the space and extra cleaning fee and also includes any extra guest fees which are normally charged at a rate of $25/nt/pp beyond the first 6 guests. This pricing is admittedly high by design in order to keep low the number of times per year the owner is rented out of his place but to serve as an option for occasional groups with a particular need. Because the cleaning and picking up the house that's required, there's a minimum 2 night requirement for this option. The price breakdown of this $440 extra nightly rate can be thought of as follows: $200 rental value at market price, $50 premium to overall house rental rate for entire property exclusivity and privacy, $50 extra guest fee for 2 guests that would otherwise be charged if staying in main portion of rental home, $100 hotel cost for owner, and $80 cleaning costs before+after stay prorated over 2 days. If owner will organically be away on travels, the nightly fee can be reduced to $360.
The owner loves the Adirondacks and log home living, having grown up in a family log home in the Adirondacks, and then building a log chalet overlooking Whiteface and the Ausable River in Wilmington, which is now a popular vacation rental fully booked year round. This Adirondack log lodge style home is now the 3rd, and has been custom designed entirely by the owner to maximize the forested hilltop views and location and incorporates all the best features learned from a lifetime of log home living and also photographing many premier Adirondack properties.

So cozy and picturesque! Layout wise, the bedrooms are nicely spaced out (2 on third floor, one on main floor, one "bunk room" on the basement floor) to give everyone breathing room and privacy for a multi-family gathering.
Perfectly situated in between Cascade XC Center, Mt Van Hovenberg XC, Whiteface and the town's amenities.
Owner was super understanding when we had to make a schedule change.

What a beautiful home to make ours for our wedding weekend. Johnathon the owner was more than accommodating with what we needed from him and the amount of people we had with us. Very helpful in every way.

The property is exactly as it is described. It was clean, check in was easy. We had to make changes a few months before our trip as the number of guests changed and we were no longer bringing a dog. Johnathan took care of the changes right away!
The location is great! Just minutes from the town of Lake Placid and the Olympic sites; the ski Jumps are right at the end of River Rd., and the view is beautiful! River Rd. runs with the Ausable river, more or less, so there are many places to pull off the road and fish or hike. Again, the house itself was as clean as could be and in great condition! And, no must smell like some places we've stayed.
We had the Grand kids, ages 15 months, 3 and 6; they all had a great time! Making smores, fishing, visiting the North Pole, or using the hot tub!
If I return to the Lake Placid area, I would definitely stay here again! Only longer next time!
Thank you Johnathan!

This rental was a beautiful place to stay. It gave you feeling of being secluded in the woods with an amazing view, but was so close to everything you would want to do with your kids and family. The property itself was well maintained, clean, and the property manager was always easy to get ahold of for any needs or questions. We truly enjoyed our stay as of family of 11, and made lots of memories. It would be a wonderful place to stay again.

Gorgeous view of Whiteface Mt, lovely new Adirondack home
We enjoyed our time with extended family arriving from Dallas, TX and Rochester, NY areas. So much to do in Lake Placid area …and we were close, but a few minute drive from town for restaurants, Olympic sites and shops. Hiking and exploring the area, the home was a relaxing place to return to. Kitchen was well stocked, lots of rooms to spread out into and large family table for game nights. We highly recommend this home. Jonathan (owner) has his stunning photographic artwork throughout the modern log home. He’s a great communicator and has a wealth of knowledge of local hiking.

Idyllic ADK Stay in Clean, Charming Lodge with Endless Amenities
Put simply, this property and our stay was an absolute dream! We booked this beautiful home for my mom's 60th birthday trip and Johnathan's lodge provided the perfect backdrop to our 5-day stay in Lake Placid. My husband & I, my parents, and our chocolate lab already can't wait to return.
The home was well-kept, clean, and had so much wilderness charm that every detail in the home was just icing on the (birthday) cake for this trip! Any and everything has been thought of here - down to measuring cups and other small household items you don't realize you need until the moment comes!
Though we spent plenty of time out hiking, kayaking, visiting the Ski Jump Complex, High Falls Gorge, and enjoying meals out - our time at the house was just as special. The views from the expansive from deck were breathtaking at all times of the day, and could be enjoyed outside or inside from the living room.
Johnathan is an extremely hospitable and welcoming host, he was easy to communicate with, but just the same, fully respected our privacy in the home. He has put together an extensive binder of hikes which we found incredibly helpful when planning our days and hikes based on each of our hiking abilities.
10/10 would stay at this property or another of Johnathan's properties again! We are so grateful for everything he did to make this a memorable celebration for my mom!

Just as described - will stay again
We really enjoyed the cabin which was spacious and had great views. It had everything we needed and the location was great; a short drive to Plattsburgh where our daughter attends college and minutes to Lake Placid downtown. Communication with the owner was good. We will be back for future visits.

Quick Ski Trip
We had a wonderful stay. The home was gorgeous with the most beautiful view from the living room. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate with enough snow for the kids to sled or tube, but we were able to make a fire in the fire pit right in the front yard. The kids loved exploring the area. The home was perfect for my mom and family of 5. I would definitely stay again when we come back next year!

This is a really good option for a visit to the area. We were 4 adults and 2 pups. Location was perfect for skiing at Whiteface and going into town at Lake Placid. I loved the fireplace in the master bedroom and we all enjoyed an afternoon in the hot tub. Thank you Johnathan for sharing your home! Best Wishes, Sandra

This property is incredible. If you have visions of a cozy mountain retreat, this is your place. Winter, summer, anytime of year, it is perfect. But we highly recommend winter, sledding down the driveway is a MUST followed by a dip in the hot tub and snuggling by the fire! We’ve already planned a return visit! Comfortable cozy getaway
Beautiful log cabin with everything you need. The full wall of windows facing white face mountain made the views breathtaking and the cabin was just amazing! It was my birthday getaway along with a family ski trip. The weather was a little colder then we were planning, so we decided to stay in and enjoy the wood burning fireplace and hot tub instead. We were able to go sledding on the driveway and my 5 year old had a blast! The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make meal at home. Perfect place to stay if your visiting Lake Placid.

This cabin had tons of room for our family gathering, four adult children and two grandchildren. I can’t begin to describe the details of this cabin…. it was too stinking cute. Even had a little hideout for the kids to climb, hot tub, ping pong, and the kids loved sledding down the driveway (of all things). Well equipped cabin, even better than the pictures!!

Fantastic Christmas Getaway
Our family is spread out over several states, so we decided to gather at this lodge for Christmas. We were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the property as well as the luxury of this beautiful home. It was well-equipped and was everything that was promised. We were so impressed by the attention to details that made it look and feel like the perfect Adirondack lodge. There was more than enough room for everyone, and the layout of the house allowed for different activities in different areas. Thank you, Jonathan, for creating such a special place and sharing it!

Amazing!
We had such a great time at this beautiful house. Jonathan was an amazing host. He even had a Christmas tree set up. My kids loved just hanging at the house. Ping Pong and the hot tub were big hits. I loved just sitting on the couch looking at the beautiful views. We had our first snowfall at the house and my kids had a blast sleigh riding. We literally didn’t want to leave the house and I’m so sad we are back home now. You won’t be disappointed with this house! Go! Go! Go! We will be back!!!

We absolutely fell in love with the house. The views were amazing and the snow made it feel more like Christmas. We loved feeling like we were in total seclusion but so close to Lake Placid.
