Great traditional pub/inn, complemented by helpful staff and delicious food

Staff are exceptional, every member of the team willing to help and were very accommodating. Food was also great and fairly priced. Good location with transport links into central Leeds.

The boiler was very loud and the bathrooms could be modernized.

A little bit of paradise in the contryside.

Typical country pub, with excellent food. Seems to always be busy but never intimidating. The bar is run by numerous people from the younger generation, all of whom ,without exception, are friendly and welcoming and make the atmosphere in the bar amazingly warm and friendly. I find it remarkable that so many of the good younger people are working here. I tried to sample the whole menu but failed, those dishes I did try were absolutely delicious.

I didn't stay long enough.

Clean the room of mould in bathroom and next to my bed sign clearly saying bed and breakfast but didn’t do bed and breakfast reason we haven’t done b + b since COVID then take the sign down and was chastised for asking the question ?????????

Good value for money. Surprisingly comfortable enjoyable stay.

Quiet room, private access direct from car park. Plenty of parking. Good hot food menu lunch and dinner but no breakfast. Very pleasant staff.

Continental breakfast offer would have been better than no breakfast at all. Bedroom floor uneven and up and down. You need a car to drive for breakfast.

It was warm and that was about it, See below for review.

Date of stay 24th February to 26th February single room The photos on Booking.com of the accommodation appear to be for the double room availability, I booked single room occupancy. As soon as the hostess showed me to my room I was shocked by the room. The bottom section of the bed was marked and appeared to be dirty. The curtain rail covering was also badly marked by dampness which appears to have been caused by a leak at some point. The hostess advised the heating would be turned on which it was. I cant complain about the temperature of the room as I was warm through my stay. I did have to ask for a mug for the tea, no spoon or other serving items were provided. My room wasn’t cleaned after the first day. I don’t necessarily mind the room not being cleaned day to day but the mug I requested hadn’t been changed, neither had the towels and therefore I was grateful I had actually hung the towel instead of leaving in the shower. The room can only be described as generally grotty. It seems other reviews on Booking.com have been for the double room so I feel my judgment to book with you was impaired. The fan cover in the bathroom was covered in dust and has clearly not been cleaned for some time, same with the mattress and other areas of the room. Black mould is also present in the bathroom. The room was quiet, no noise from the pub although it did seem I could hear someone upstairs making a call or having a conversation, this wasn’t late, or during the night and therefore wasn’t an issue. The room wasn’t expensive but very disappointing.

I arrived to check in and the first thing I noticed was the really strong smell of mold and how dirty the room was. It was difficult to locate exactly where the mold came from as it has been painted over but you can see faint black spots behind the bed and in the bathroom. The room was totally freezing - the outside door to the annex corridor where the room is situated is left open so it is only an internal door to the outside. Radiator didn’t work so I went to the adjoining bar (note - very noisy) to ask for the heating to be turned on. He offered to turn the heating on remotely but I advised that the radiator wasn’t on and completely cold and would he please come to the room and check. He refused and was abusive and told me if I continued to complain he was canceling my reservation and would throw me out on the street so I left as I did not feel safe. I advised this to booking.com and he responded with accusations against me (??) which I am sure he will also do to this review. My advice would be to check the other reviews on this place which mention the same regarding mold and dirty, cold room - AVOID

Very good

Staff friendly and welcoming. Room clean and tidy, nicely situated. Plenty of other pubs round about, Tea and coffee facilities and plenty of parking .providing and sachets of shower gel. Provided.

Nothing really although would have been nice to have some soap or hand gel. Used the shower gel which was provided in a sachet The shower was a bit small.

Comfortable room above nice pub, handy for access into Leeds

Very comfortable, free parking, own entrance, good pub serving good food. Staff very friendly and helpful.

All good. pipework a bit noisy but not a problem as it's an old building.

Spend a bit extra and go somewhere nice

It was close to wedding venue , the staff where friendly .

Reminded me of Fawlty towers , everything was falling apart and the whole place is tired and needs new decoration . the bathroom was pretty grotty - the floor was brown and obviously had bot been mopped for a very long time ..The toilet wasn't fixed to the wall,l(so my son Ans I where scared to sit down just in case the toilet came totally away from the wall!) the bottom of the shower unit was dangerous and had a jagged split which could be nasty if you slipped getting out of shower. There was also mould on the wall next to the ceiling , the fan was covered in cobwebs .. .the food was absolutely terrible -inedible (I asked for medium rare steak and got a steak so over cooked it was too tough to even chew. The chips made me feel sick for the next two hours as they where so greasy .my advice is if staying is to find somewhere else to eat.

Perfect place to stay and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Such friendly staff and a clean, comfortable stay.

Not being able to have breakfast there and only having two teabags available for the two nights. I’m certain that they would have given us more though, if I’d asked (I just couldn’t be bothered to move).

No breakfast. But meals in the bar are good. Room was nice and really quiet.

Wouldn't recommend

The bar and service staff ( non management, I assume ) were great. Friendly and helpful. Bar menu was good.

Although the room was tidy, it was unclean/musty, and probably explains why there were many small flies present in the room. There was a damp patch within the aged carpet in the main room near to the bathroom. I highlighted the watermark to a room service employee. The employee was friendly and attentive, and agreed with my assessment that the patch appeared as if had been there for some time. The same employee apparently contacted the management. The management didn't make any effort to contact me or reassure me. Instead left it to the staff to liaise with me. I was told that a plumber would be booked to attend to the water damage. A bedside lamp was missing a bulb. Also, the room shared a main entrance with other rooms. Unfortunately, this meant that the door was left ajar by other guests at night, thereby letting in the freezing air.

Breakfast not available. I was referred up the road to a larger hotel for breakfast, but they didn't open until 8:30. Bit sad. that, and Bpplomg.com ought to let us know Breakfast is not supplied.

Great atmosphere and friendly bar staff

The staff were great, the location was good and the pub under the room was decent also

No breakfast offered, if I'd of known I'd of stayed somewhere else. I thought breakfast is a norm with all hotels so could be my fault for not investigating more. Shower head wouldn't stay up as the holding fitting was broken. Bed was too hard for me
