The hostess is fabulous, and thinks of everything you might need. She is also very responsive and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The front and back porches offered a beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable start and end to the day. Being in the Upper Canyon the temperature is mild during the day, and cool during the evenings. Will definitely revisit in the future.

It is entirely possible that our expectations for this property were unreasonably high, so how did it manage to exceed them? The location is phenomenal- a canyon cabin at the base of a wilderness area, surrounded by properties that have been in the same families for generations. There is a real sense of community if you choose to engage with others, but equally a sense of privacy & solitude when that is what you prefer.
The LOVE that the Crawfords have for this cabin is so evident & the work they have done to restore and maintain it is impressive.
The entire back of the property opens to a wilderness area full of deer, turkey, elk & wild horses. If you are a bird nerd (like me) I can happily say I saw several that were first time views here AND even got to hear a short bit of Western Whippoorwill song. It was magical.
We didn’t spend a ton of time inside because outside you have an elevated deck with a terrific view of the surrounds, a hot tub (which we didn’t get to use THIS time) & a screened in porch that connects to the bedroom. But the inside is very comfortable and VERY cozy with big beautiful windows all the way around, a lovely bed and a nicely updated kitchen.
Apparently I only have 1500 characters to wrap this up SO- Cindi is an incredibly gracious host, the property is as close to perfect as I believe possible and you should stop reading this & book it for yourself. It is hands down one of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed & we can’t wait to come back! ❤️

This quiet, secluded interlude was perfect for us. Cozy with everything we needed. And on our last day God even sent us a small herd of deer out the kitchen window, Big Daddy, just as our host said! Thank you for this beautiful memory.

It was a great place to stay, but you cannot just walk across to the river. There are homes all around; so it's private property. You have to drive out to the trails. I contacted the owner about hiking from their back yard, but never heard from them. Place was cute. Bathroom was tiny, tub had dead bugs in it. And the shelves, fixtures were dusty which set off my allergies. The hot tub was a plus.

Perfect cabin for a couple. Pretty much everything you need. Bed was very comfortable, but small. In a nice, quiet location in Upper Canyon.

We brought our dogs for a quick mountain getaway. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The property was beautiful and just as described - the deck and sunroom were wonderful, and we saw lots of deer in the neighborhood. We were able to take the dogs for evening hikes right out the back door in NF land. The house was easy to find and get into, and just a few minute drive to the restaurants and breweries in town. Definitely will be staying again!

My spouse and I had the pleasure of staying at this property in August of 2023. Every aspect of our stay was stellar. The location is the best in Ruidoso in my opinion. All properties in the area are nice and well kept. This one backs up to the mountain forest, and we saw a variety of wildlife from the private deck. The place was incredibly clean, and simply has everything you need in all aspects. The owner was SO nice and an absolute pleasure to chat with leading up to our stay. For the quality and location of this place, I consider it to be an oustanding value. Having stayed at dozens and dozens of VRBOs since 2007, this property gets my #1 favorite pick. I look forward to returning to this property down the road. A+++++!

Just about everything a couple could ask for. We were there mid-August. Daytime temperatures in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. Temperatures at our home in West Texas were above 100. 111 one day. Never used a/c. Went out to eat at some great restaurants. Also grilled at the cabin. I can’t really think of anything I would do to improve our experience. Almost forgot to mention the great screened in porch. We’ll be back. This was our second time there.

Awesome cabin and even better host. This is definitely a do over for us. If it was my personal cabin I would add an outdoor ceiling fan on the screened in porch but it’s not alway 90 degrees in Ruidoso like it was on this stay. Such a great place. The out back space is great for dogs also.

The Deck/patio area was absolutely beautiful. Most of our time was spent outside on the deck watching the deer. The inside of the home was cozy and perfect for the two of us.

We had a wonderful time at Cathi’s beautiful cabin! We enjoyed sitting on the back deck, walking the quiet neighborhood, and the cozy fireplace when the temperatures dipped. The cabin had everything you would need and was charmingly decorated. We will definitely stay here again!! Cathi was also so nice to adjust our stay after we had car trouble on our way, this was such a kind thing to do and it really went above and beyond! Thank you for the wonderful trip!

Take your book and groceries and never leave for a peaceful stay in this gorgeous cabin. The setting is beautiful and refreshing while the bustle of Ruidoso is nearby if you choose. We did both but spent most of our time cooking on the grill and relaxing. Our Yorkies loved the new adventure. We would definitely recommend this cabin and choose it again!

We loved our stay at this charming cabin. Went to Ruidoso to celebrate our anniversary weekend, and had such a nice time! Loved evenings in the hot tub, mornings drinking coffee in the screened porch, and watching the games with the nice fire in the fireplace. The cabin was just right for the two of us and everything in it was so charming! Had everything we needed! Played gold on the beautiful course at Inn of the Mountain Gods and went to eat at a number of nice places in town.

This cabin is everything it’s advertised to be plus more! It’s in a great location… forest behind..river below. We had about 20 deer come down from the forest into the yard on our first morning there. The cabin is decorated beautifully and is super clean! We will definitely be back!

The cabin is a home away from home which envelops you in charm. It is evident that the hosts have poured their love into every aspect to help make their guests feel welcome. They are attentive and for our stay worried about a late season weather event that brought snow (which we desert rats aren’t used to)…checked on us and conveyed their concern even to extending our stay if we were snowed in, for safety not financial gain…unheard of these days and although we didn’t have to take the offer, knowing we were being looked out for was much appreciated. The flow of the cabin is perfect and allows for coziness and comfort; you have indoor outdoor living at your fingertips and can sit by a roaring fire or enjoy a cup of coffee on the expansive deck or read a book in the 3 season room. You are minutes from town but still secluded with forest at your back door bringing you up close and personal with nature…which is the biggest reason to visit the area. Our stay at this magical mountain get away will provide lasting memories and the next time we head to the mountains to rejuvenate our souls, this is where we will stay! Thank you for having us in your home away from home!!!

There were deer, wild turkeys and beautiful blue jays to watch!
It snowed one day and there was a snow plow that came through the next morning so we were able to get into town!

This is our third visit to this cabin. We absolutely LOVE it and it suits our needs perfectly (two adults, two doggos).
The location is perfect. Close enough to town - just about a 5 minute drive - yet you'll feel total privacy. You're not on top of neighbors here. Multiple windows allow you to view the beautiful scenery... trees and wildlife (we saw deer, woodpeckers, and Steller's jays) aplenty.
The cabin itself is perfectly stocked with everything you need and very clean. Did I mention it is super cozy? :) The hot tub and fireplace were our two favorite things during this winter visit. There is also a screened porch which is lovely for morning coffee or evening wine.
Cathi is SO kind and communicative from the get-go and all throughout your stay. She even kept in contact with us about winter weather. If you have any questions or concerns, she is just a text or phone call away.
I cannot recommend this cabin enough!! We are already looking forward to our next visit.

This place is adorable! Communication with the owner was perfect before we got to the cabin. Didn’t have any issues whatsoever so the need to communicate during the stay wasn’t necessary! She was so helpful in suggesting things to do as well! It was perfect for our little family and pups! If I HAD to say one thing, it would just be that there’s no bedroom door LOL! That was different for us, but we made it work!

The cabin feels secluded with the forest behind it and a hill beside it. It has everything you need and then more. The screened porch is perfect to watch the sun come up over the mountain through the trees. We were blessed to have snow during our trip and there's nothing better than sipping hot chocolate, watching the fire and looking out ALL the windows at the snow. Such a beautiful property that is dog friendly, a rare find for sure.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Cathi's cabin. Main room has a wonderful fireplace that warmed the room, both with temperature and emotion. Truly a delightful experience. We will return to Ruidoso and will definitely book the cabin again.

What an absolute gem! We absolutely loved where this home was nestled away with the most breathtaking views. The home was stocked with any little things we forgot cooking wise. This little piece of paradise is amazing! My husband and myself booked for a quick get away from the routine of work and my medical visits during chemo! We just needed a break and let me tell you this is the place to go to relax and unwind and just recharge! Cathi was so easy to contact and she made sure everything was just perfect for us! There are so many added amenities to this little cabin! There are to many to name! However I can personally guarantee you will not be without here!! Books, games, magazines, crayons, puzzles, hot tub!
