Tax was half of the price of the accomodation!

EVERYTHING THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE.
Nothing

Everything at Eco Lodge works well. Breakfast is cook to order, The owner and staff are all very helpful arranging Kite lessons or other activities.. There is a convenient italian restaurant within the Perla Marina gated secure area. I stayed extra days at this relaxing, fun resort.
It's all OK
4.2
the view over the ocean.
The place is overrated, shabby and with out atmosphere.
The breakfast was poor (fore example the guacamole wasnt freshmade but just taken from a tub). There is no sand beach in front of the lodge. It is all rocks.
Our room needed more cleaning.
The reception didnt tell anything about the facilities or the surroundings.

The location is phenomenal. A 10 sec walk to the beach.
To be fair, I am awful at language. I try, but language is very hard for me (I had to work for years to be able to effectively convey a message in my native tongue). I try to speak Spanish but the issue is that my Spanish is ineffectual at times. I can understand more than I can speak out of timidity. So when I tried to convey what I was saying, I could understand the workers talking about me and how I am hard to understand. While I know I am the ugly American visiting another city, I take an approach of humble respect for whatever country I am in. However after traveling many places where my language has not been good, this by far has been the largest negative response I’ve had in a foreign country. Again, it is my own fault that I do not know the language, however I tried and my tries were frowned upon and I was avoided. In turn I felt like I couldn’t be around the workers (except the kitchen women who were very kind). It all changed when Mark the owner came back, and then it seemed like order was restored, but I can say I didn’t feel 100% comfortable after the start. However, I am resourceful and made do with a bad situation. After staying I read that a previous solo traveler had a similar experience so I chalk it up to this: a great place for Spanish speaking families, couples, etc. Perhaps not as great for the lone female traveler who is bad at language.

The place is very well located, in particular the little bar / restaurant with view on the sea. Note that the food is very good (especially the plato typico). There are 2 pools: one one the front that is very nice and one on the back that could be cleaner (water was not transparent)
We had the very unfortunate surprise of discovering just before our last night that someone entered our room and stole money in cash as well as manipulated our credit cards (the cards were misplaced in the wallet, and the wallet never left the room during our whole stay at Cabarete). We noticed that suspicious expenses were made with those credit cards. When we informed the hotel staff of the situation, their reaction was... surprising and not cooperative.
They didn't seem to believe us, checked our room in case we placed the money elsewhere and just left without saying anything until the next morning. We didn't feel very safe at this point. The next day we spoke to another co-manager who was a better listener, however they still didn't seem to believe us probably (suggested that the credit card payments could have been done during our stay at our previous hotel, which is impossible as cards were in the right order when we arrived in Cabarete).
We understand that they wanted to protect the hotel reputation and staff, only that it's important also to protect your guests. Note that the door of the locker in the room was not functional. In addition, no camera is pointing to the staircase leading to our room, and they are aware of that.

Nice room, setting, private beach
Wifi was very poor/hardly functional, I had to connect to the next door hotel's guest wifi. Taxes were not included in the Booking quote, the final price was 20% more. They should make total fees more obvious upfront or include it in the Booking price. Location was not actually in Cabarete which I didn't realize, but 10-15 min away

On the beach.
Outdated room. The ac barely worked. The hot tub are "COLD"
4.2
very cozy and beautiful Eco lodge, very private
staff were helpful
personally I found it a bit too quiet
I felt cold at night as it was an open air lodge I was staying in, and only thin duvet available
Breakfast portion could have been a bit more generous

The owner Marc was very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay! Would definitely recommend

The location was amazing; private beach; great access to the ocean; stunning dining on the beach in the evening and for breakfast. The owner and the staff were all fantastic and friendly- can’t say enough about them. Fun to have friendly dogs around.
Showers and bathrooms were more basic than expected.

Great place if you like nature

Great location and the room was really nice and comfortable.
One of the staff who was in charge was not very welcoming nor helpful.

Our first visit to the Dominican Republic could not be more amazing and enjoyable as here! We were two families sharing the biggest room - a gorgeous Swiss family Robinson style accommodation with a front completely open to nature and the ocean view… stunning and unique. The kids loved the beautiful views, beach, pool and outstanding breakfasts (prepared with love by Daysi!) and parents loved the relaxed natural ambiance, food, beach bar and easy access to beach combing, surfing, kiting, snorkelling, and horse riding by walking or guagua (shared minibus taxi). Staff were helpful and accommodating. Perla Marina has a great little grocery and outstanding pizzeria too. We will be back to the Dominican Republic and it will be hard to stay elsewhere.

The staff is super friendly and welcoming, great place for families, very quiet and with a lovely private beach. Food offered there is just delicious.
The wifi connection was not the best.

The Eco Lodge is amazing. If you, like me, prefer to travel consciously and authentically this place is all that! Local and kind staff. Waking up and being able to hear the ever changing sea before even opening your eyes is truly wonderful. There's a chill island vibe at the spot - doesn't really feel like a hotel - and I mean that in the best way possible. I definitely felt recharged after our stay there and it was our favourite place out of 4 in the DR. Cabarete is a nice town 10 min/600 pesos away (Sosua too). If you plan on exploring the area, it's probably better to rent a motorcycle. There are other tourists, but not to an extend where the town loses its identity. All in all we really loved it.
I think it's a little too expensive although I don't regret having this experience. Walls are thin, you can hear conversations etc. that the neighbours are having. Lamp wasn't working hence a dark room. We didn't get a towel for drying our hands. No housekeeping if we weren't home. Payment has to be by bank transfer or paypal. Breakfast and restaurant hours are a little tight. All of this is okay - but I think it should be cheaper because of this. I would return, but probably get a cheaper room.

Great location right on the beach. A big breakfast table where guests meet and chat in the morning. Helpful staff. Clean spacious rooms
4.2
Very friendly people and good food.
4.2
Quiet little place, nice beach, nice hutts, stuff is ok, but kind of indifferent, food (excluding breakfast) is ok
Breakfast is absolutely insufficient, you get eggs in different ways, no ham or bacon, bread just if you are lucky and there is some left (which was rarely)
They charched 80% taxes on top to the original booking price (550 instead of 300 usd), and yes, this was mentioned in small letters somewhere on booking.com, but I didn't see it; so just be careful while doing your booking
The night of our arrival it was raining like hell - unfotunately there is NO place at the entire hotel to eat something without getting wet (no closed room)
They claim to be very ecological, but they still use plastic straws and soaps in a plastic wrapper
No hot water available during our stay (4 nights)
4.2
It was all incredibly great! We had actually booked only 3 nights, but we liked it so much that we stayed a week. The lodge is right on a private beach and in the middle of nature. The food is very good. The staff is great, especially Nando and Freili! The owner Marc is also great, and his four dogs too! We will definitely come back!

It is a little hidden gem in paradise, the place is clean, beautiful and the bed comfortable. Their food menu is small but everything was really delicious and the free breakfast was a plus. Daisy makes really yummy breakfast.
our only drawback is that after booking they’d want you to pay by Zelle, PayPal or bank transfer. Or by cash, plus to buy anything on their gift shop or bar/restaurant is with cash. They say is so you don’t have to pay taxes, but the total amount of my booking was charged and that included $80 in taxes. So it’s more so they don’t have to pay taxes. I found that a bit shady. But it really didn’t affect the stay and the staff was really friendly.

Awesome location.
Not the greatest value for money here

5 days in Paradise! Not a care in the world. Everything was right there where the land meets the sky and the sea... magical... as far as your eyes and feet could take you. The friendly staff took care of our family of 5's every need. Pet friendly to the max! Our 2 large dogs had the time of their lives romping up and down the beach with the other dogs (and humans). Fresh water for them was never far away with 2 locations to fill your bottle (provided). Reasonable menu kept our bellies full and special orders were not a problem. Taking advantage of the included breakfast items with fresh tropical fruits and strong coffee made starting the day even easier. Come let the sound of the surf wash away your worries and pause time for a while!
4.2
Great place, nature inspired. Breakfast not very good, otherwise dinner and coktails were great at fair prices. Rooms were confortable, beautiful and clean
The beach should be more frequently clean from jetsam. Breakfast need an upgrade. In the room there is a closet but no hangers (?). No beach towels available
4.2
The hotel is just beautiful! You can walk out straight into a quiet beach or walk the trails along the coast. There is a surf rental shop/school and cafe about 15 minutes away at Encuentro beach which is fantastic. Easy trip into Cabrete, or make use of the local restaurants in Perla Marina.
There are lots of friendly animals (Musha the dog ♥️) and spots to hang out at the hotel.
The staff really helped us with our travel options despite the language barrier!
The restaurant views are amazing, but the food was underwhelming. Go somewhere else for food and come back for drinks at the bar!
The facilities are a bit more rustic (as expected from an eco lodge) but we had a fan instead of A/C which made the nights a bit sticky!
4.2
i enjoyed the property went off the beaten path and even though it is a resort the property itself felt more intimate . the staff was professional , friendly and provided a quiet low key relaxation atmosphere . a different and welcoming vibe then other resorts I have visited .
im not sure it is planned. it maybe in the shower to have the ability to have warm / hot water . I am not sure if it’s part of preserving the eco integrity of the property but maybe that could be a feature to consider if it’s not already in place . I do know the resort is very environmentally friendly .

looks nice and different from other places
bugs and no hot water no pressure
