Nice B&B in Castellammare del Golfo

This B&B is close to the sea, but not at the seafront. Our room had a balcony and therefore a view which was nice. Its a 20 min walk from the bus station, the train is closed in 2024 for upgrade and the station is not close to the town. We picked up the key from a hotel in the town 10 mins away, from a nice friendly girl. There is a nice restaurant 50 meters away as well. There was a good breakfast at the B&B It is about a 30 min walk to the town centre and castle and port I would stay there again for sure

Great place to stay!

The staff is excellent. The breakfast was very good with a nice selection of things to choose from.

The towels are changed every three days. Considering the heat and taking a few showers a day, every two days would have been better.

Good accomodation for a night or two

Nice small Accomodation about 15 Min from Center. Not so easy to find, but it worked all well. Good contact via sms/whatsapp and email for contactless checkin.

not happy

wifi was basically non existent and kept dropping out. Owner blamed it on us. Metal door to patio stuck in the down position so very dark. We asked for it to be fixed. We waited in the room for someone as they said they would come to fix. When I complained next day on checkout they said they didn’t send someone to fix as we were in the room. Duh, we were waiting in the room for them to fix. All they had to do was ask or text us. Not happy with our stay.

Disappointing stay at A Mare...

Not much. Breakfast was excellent. Location is fine with many restaurants only a few minutes away by foot even though parking was a bit challenging. Looks like they also own a hotel and have ties with a private beach offering reduced rates which is great in that area

Could not connect to WiFi until I realized very late in the evening the facility has two networks with nearly the same name but a small difference between them and one of them is not open to guests... I did contact the facility though WhatsApp and was initially told there were probably too many people on the wifi network. What kind of an answer is that? Really? Secondly, one of the shower door was broken and coming off its rail guard so unable to close properly so ended up with water everywhere in the bathroom after two showers... Thirdly, there was a broken light on the bathroom. Probably not mentioned by a previous guest Finally, and this shows this B&B needs better processes in the summer: AC can only be on when you are in the room yourself. I get that we need to be environmentally friendly but in view of the very high temperature (+29C) in the room when we got in at 6:30PM, it would be nice to be able to leave the AC unit on when away for dinner to have a decent temperature after you come back to the room. The ACunit itself, in my opinion, needs maintenance as it performed very poorly all night, barely bringing the room temp down to 25.5C by early morning. This last point is truly unacceptable to me. Unlike all other B&B's we stayed at while in Sicily, we didn't see anyone from A Mare when we checked in late PM. A Mare uses WhatsApp to message its guests. That is okay but a presence upon check-in in the evening would be a plus in my opinion. Overall and very unfortunately, I cannot recommend A Mare wholeheartedly. Unless I missed something as it was late in the summer season for this facility, A Mare needs to improve its guest handling.

Superb

Room was quite big, clean and staff was friendly. They helped me to organise a taxi from a train station when I arrived. Breakfast was tasty and WiFi networks worked well.

When I checked the pictures I expected a room with a nice view but I was on the other side of building so I had a view for another building close by 5 meters. In the offer they said that they have free bikes for guests but they didn't. They could help with organizations.

Beautiful B&B, nice and helpful staff (specially with parking that could be tricky), extra large room (compared to other stops) which is nice, all clean and very recent

The apartment itself was clean and had everything you need. Kitchen was also very well equipped.

We decided to book this apartment and spend a bit more money on it because of the location, it was supposed to be close to the beach and the center at the same time. Unfortunately, upon our arrival, it turned out that only the B&B is in the mentioned location, however the apartment itself is at the end of the city. When we complained, we received no compensation, no explanation. It was a really big disappointment for us. If we would have been aware of this we would have booked a cheaper apartment in the city, because there were a lot of other options. The lack of help from A Mare and Booking.com was unacceptable. I expected that some would followed up with us, but this did not happen. I have never been so disappointed about a booking and holiday.

Would not come back there again

It was clean and modern

It meant to be in different location with sea view close to the beach and promenade instead when we got there we found out it was over 30 minutes walk to the beach and while there was no public transport or even taxis we had to walk with small baby to the beach every day where there was not even footpaths in most places of town and cars driving like lunatics. In the apartment itself there it was very basic with lack of many things that independent apartment would need. No kettle no iron not even rubbish bags. The only thing that was there was half roll of toilet paper left by previous tenants and half full liquid soap :-) Host blame it all on bookings that it shows different place instead of this one ( I believe she have B&B also which she recons was closed but we have seen movements there every day as it was on our way to the beach ). I did not meant to be rude and leave bad feedback but I would not like people be caught in same trap as us. As it goes to the price this was one of our 3 options ( most expensive ) and we decided to take it for 2 reasons : location and sea view and we did not get any of this ...

Fabulous

The appartment itself was great, it had anything we needed, and the bed was really comfortable. All an all, it was a good exeprience.

The location. From booking we though that the appartment is going to be close to the see but in fact, we've did around 15 minutes walk to the see and the parking spot was on the street, so we didn't feel safe with the car outside. The appartment was a bit noisy on night.

Far enough from center, close enough to center

The owner and the personnel are very kind and helpful, giving us all the advice we needed. The room was very clean, maid visited daily. Breakfast is good and includes local and homemade products. One can taste here and also buy the owner’s bio olive oil which is excellent. A short and pleasant walk takes the tourist to the historical center and to the many restaurants in the port and on the adjacent streets. The place is quiet contrary to what we expected as it is close to the road. All in all it was an excellent experience staying there and a pleasure meeting the owners.

I should mention that there are only two parking places in front of the building which can happen to be not available but there is a free public parking 50 meters away, on the side of the road. Sometimes, especially in the evening, this parking can be busy and then finding a parking place in the vicinity can be a problem.
