The young gentleman valet in sat 10/26 was absolutely rude when I asked where I could dispose of a cup. I was in heels and he suggested I go across the busy street to a public can. I asked a second time to verify, same answer. I said I don’t want to set it in front of their hotel and he shrugged and got back to his texting. Are you kidding me???? Go work at Walmart as a hotel like that where EVERYONE else was amazing does need you as the weakest link in the hotel!!! Do better boy.

It was pleasant. Great location. Walking distance to everything. Hotel could use more seating areas to work. Other than that, really a great stay. Old grand hotel. Don't expect modern decor. Super friendly staff.

We loved the Knickerbocker, but… (I’ll get to that in a minute). Beautiful room (the small size didn’t bother us), amazing location (a block from the Hancock building), and a wonderful restaurant that served a lovely breakfast. The staff were gracious and everything was wonderful… until we checked out. We were handed an additional bill for the “hotel fee.” Of course that should have been included in the listed cost when we reserved the room, and should have been included in the price we paid through the third party (in this case Hotels.com). We have never had this happen before. But if they had been honest and upfront about the price of the room, it is possible we may have chosen to go somewhere else. It is a sleazy way to “win” customers. But the last laugh is on the Knickerbocker, because while we loved the hotel, we will NOT be repeat customers.

The location is perfect. There are multiple other options on that block; look them up and choose one. The check in person was impolite and negligent. She didn’t give us the Breakfast coupons we purchased when booking. Behold, the guy who was in charge Sunday9/22 started yelling and pointing at us. When we returned with the. coupons he still had an attitude. Valet and bellman were so polite. Everybody else in the restaurant were so nice. Cleaning ladies are doing a great job. The room was old, small, although we had an upgrade, very noisy and smelly. The carpets are moldy. The pillows are old with zero support. I couldn’t sleep at all for the whole stay. There is no business center, no valet parking. The lobby is small and sitting area is on a narrow balcony, above the lobby. Under no circumstances is this upscale. Any Inn is better than this. A lot of weedy smells and odd couple, with so casual dressed men and super glitzy ladies. To top it off, they charged us fraudulently. Off course will debate that; however, another nuisance. Will never, ever stay there again. The add is a completely false representation.

This place charges a separate fee from room and tax, over $25 US per night. I left 2 voicemails for the 'manager' to find out why, but he's refused to respond. The room needed to be cleaned better

The rooms are fine at this property. However, be aware there are nickel and diming charges that add up. We had arrived very tired after flying all night to find there was a $40 early check-in even after I had called and requested it (no charge mentioned then). Also, there is a $23 “resort fee” to cover things like bottled water, use of the fitness center, etc. What?? Isn’t that part of running a hotel? Plus there was a $25 per day charge for incidentals (to be returned after check-out). What possible incidentals? No mini bar, no room service…what else could it be? Rooms are fine but be aware the cost is much higher that published rate. We won’t stay here again. It felt like a rip-off.

There was quite a long line at check-in at 4 PM and I’ve heard the reception desk clerk apologizing to a few people that the cleaning team is running late. I wonder why they needed so much time, as unfortunately the linen on the bed didn’t seem fresh. The room was clean and the bed neatly done, but the pillow-cases didn’t smell fresh. I was there at this hotel only 15h in total so it wasn’t worth to make a fuss. I came back at 11:04 PM after a show and, seeing that there were still people at the bar. I asked if I can have a drink and I was told coldly that they are closed, though obviously they weren’t since there were about 6 customers at the bar. They just didn’t want to bother. The bellboy was the only nice employee that I’ve encountered at this hotel, chatty and personable. The hotel charges a resort fee (?!) I wonder why. I did not benefit of anything to justify this “resort fee”. I gave 3 stars to this hotel solely because of the central location.
