Driving up we were a little concerned as there were no signs for check in! Signage is not very good for anything except the restaurant! Once I got someone to the desk, checkin was easy! Parking was difficult in the room area! With a truck, it was impossible to maneuver into a parking space! The room was quaint and comfortable! The AC was loud but drowned out road noise! The system of providing what was needed daily with a checklist was clever! A few suggestions: motion lights for night arrivals so you can see the step and walkway from the parking lot; phone didn’t work and we could not find ice machine! It would be nice to have a list of general info in each room! After I realized the phone didn’t work, I used my cell to call the front desk and had to search to find the number!! Again, a helpful info sheet would’ve been nice!!

The air conditioners are loud. Our frig made loud noice in tbe middle of the night. When i put my durty linen outside they did not return clean because i did not fill put some form which was not explained to us. When i called the office about not getting linen back, i was snapped at about how i needed to learn about the form. It has a great restaurant so it is very busy and noisy with traffic.

Fourth time staying here, and every time it gets better. Great, clean room. Friendly staff. The breakfast at the restaurant is really good, including the coffee! A resort that makes you feel like you're in the woods. I always enjoy my stay here. THANKS AGAIN!

Super cute rustic cabin. Loved the fire place and hot tub! The mattress was well worn and felt like a water buffalo slept on it. Also disappointed that the kitchenette only had styrofoam cups (didn't know anyone used those anymore)... not very environmental friendly for a place nestled in the woods.

Our little “cabin room” was definitely a match for our visits to old mining towns and hiking. After we had a large rocking chair moved out of the room, we had adequate space for our suitcase. The small bathroom could be improved simply by adding hooks to dry towels. The restaurant was wonderful in all aspects.

The cabins and wonderful, comfortable, and clean. Food in the restaurant was fabulous and exceeded my expectations in quality and price. The only minor suggestion is to update the pool. It is older and has broken tiles. Needs a facelift. We did not come for the pool so we did not care much. Highly recommend it! You will not be sorry!

Great spot for a few days of exploring South Dakota. Cabin was clean, charming, and location is convenient. Bed was a little uncomfortable, but we would absolutely stay here again.

Highly recommend this place! Loved the privacy of our own cabin with an attached porch! Clean and cozy! Note the pool was not heated,so pretty chilly, even in July. The owner was very friendly! The restaurant was such a wonderful surprise. I had pan fried walleye and my husband had prime rib. It was the best meal out we’ve enjoyed in a very long time! We also ate breakfast before leaving and it was delicious!

A local gem if you are tired of chain hotels. Clean, quaint and close to Mt Rushmore with a wonderful restaurant on site. We had a one bed cabin and it was tight for 2 people but for a one night comfortable.

From check-in to check-out, our experience was incredible! I received an email prior to check-in letting me know what I needed to have at check-in. The person who checked me into our room was friendly and professional. Our room was adorable! I immediately noticed how fresh it smelled and it was clean. The little things like folded tp on the roll and Kleenex "art" made an immediate positive impression. I love how close Powder House is to Keystone and Mount Rushmore. We went to the lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore and it was nice to have a 5 minute drive to our hotel. Superb stay! Highly recommend!

This was advertised to us as a log cabin for 6 people, but we ended up in what a bunch of motel rooms in a big log building. The room smelled like urine, and when you go out to the patio outside the room it smelled like sewage. It's a nice concept with a pool, but if you get stuck in the motel rooms it's not great. The restaurant was also underwelming and food was over cooked and inedible.

We had an amazing stay at Powder House. It was clean, comfortable and had the perfect vibe for vacationing in the Black Hills, like being at a cozy cabin but close to everything. Staff were so friendly and went above and beyond at all times. The restaurant was fantastic. It's only a few miles from Mount Rushmore which was perfect for us

Stay was very nice, There was a small space between the foot of the door and the frame of the door in which small bugs would be able to crawl through; It was not huge problem for us. Overall a very nice place with an amazing restaurant.

Very nice, recently upgraded, very clean. Very neat little place tucked into the woods. Perfect for a week stay with our family, including our dog. The dog was welcomed, and there was plenty of space for him to run out back. No daily maid service, but very efficient ways for getting daily supplies as needed. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. On site restaurant has great food, including a selection of local game. Only reason i didnt give a full 5 stars for comfort was the bed was too firm for my liking.
