I booked our stay at Hampton Inn and Garden Suites downtown Grand Rapids thru Hotels.com. Upon arrival, I presented my Hotels.com reservation confirmation and ID. The clerk could NOT find my reservation anywhere in their system. They KNEW I'd booked a room and had my confirmation but it was not showing up in their system. My family had to wait ~30min in the lobby for the hotel staff to contact Hotels.com and try to figure things out. Unfortunately, they were not able to. In the meantime, Hotels.com kept trying to call me to book us at a different hotel room. That was NOT the answer for my family. We'd just driven 4 hours and had our time planned out so we could arrive at the event on time that we were going to attend. However, the staff at Hampton Inn Grand Rapids was TREMENDOUS and they juggled other reservations around to fit us in. They were phenomenal. A+++ service. They were 110% patient and understanding and showed tremendous empathy for the situation we were in. Our numerous THANK YOUs were nowhere near enough.

Maybe post somewhere outside that check in is on the 3rd floor and to go park in the parking deck first. We weren’t the only ones to do laps around the building to find the front desk haha. Nice location otherwise, clean! Friendly staff.

A raised toilet seat or tall toilet and handrails should be part of any room advertised as handicap accessible. We did not get that. The seat was standard height and the only thing to grab on to was the towel bar on the glass shower wall. Not exactly rated for assist purposes. The picture below is not of the room, but what one might expect of a room with a handicap toilet. Also, while the breakfast was nice, the cloth covered seats in the dining area were water and food stained and generally dirty. Not a good indication of standard of care for cleaning in public spaces.

I was surprised to learn that rooms are not automatically cleaned each day. I have never had this experience before and will say I was disappointed. I was told I needed to request that the room be done. For the price being paid, it seems like it is a reasonable service to be provided.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. They overbooked and did not have the original room I booked but gave us a room that actually worked out better for how many people we had staying there. They paid for our parking, and gave us snacks as a thank you for being understanding! Very clean room, breakfast was great, and very walkable area. All around great place to stay!

Very disappointed. The room was not clean at all. I made the bed both days. When you take a break from work you expect a few things. How long can you use the excuse no employees? If you have no employees, it is time to do something else It is not my problem. When I checked out, they didn’t even ask about my stay or provide a receipt.

Our 2nd stay here & they took good care of us. They had an issue with our room and comped us an additional room for the weekend. That was awesome & we will definitely be back whenever we decide to visit Grand Rapids in the future

We were here for 3 days for a softball tournament. This Hampton Inn was in a good location and very close to great restaurants and convenient to the highway. Parking was also convenient. The room was updated and comfortable. However, the shower had hair in it when we arrived. We let the manager know but nothing was done. Then over our three night stay, we never had maid service and had to take out our own garbage. When I let the front desk know they just said they were understaffed. The people we traveled with had dog hair all over the sofabed in their room. The pool area was clean and well maintained. Overall it wasn’t a bad stay but I would expect more from a Hilton property.

Hotel lobby and room smelt musty. Many fingerprints in the room - on the inside of windows, on the door frame between the room and the bathroom. Shower did not work - lever that you lift to turn shower on was broken. Did not expect the $18 parking fee.

Thank you for making our stay nice . Easy on and off the highway so we could get to our grandsons baseball tournament both north and south. Nice restaurants right there didn't have to go far to enjoy a meal . again we Thank you big family.

The staff could not be nicer at this hotel. They were so helpful and friendly. The breakfast wasn’t anything extravagant but it was good and was kept stocked full. The pool and hot tub area was nice and the parking garage felt safe and secure. The rooms were really nice and comfortable. We had a few things we didn’t love such as one of the elevators being out of order. It made for super long waits at time. The pool was also closed before checkout Monday morning. Our 4 year old was devastated and cried most of the day because he didn’t get to go back down there. This also seems minor but the bathroom door has a farmhouse style slider which doesn’t allow an airtight shut and privacy isn’t really a thing. My kids definitely felt uncomfortable when they had to use the bathroom or change. I would definitely book this hotel again based on the room and staff.

When we arrived, there is no valet parking. The elevator was out of service so wait time was very long. Homeless people were sleeping in the stairway. And there was dried blood on the carpet and curtains.

The hotel suited my needs for the one night I was there. It was clean, staff was friendly. The parking fee, however, did not. I take into consideration hotel cost and parking fees when selecting where I will book my stay. It’s listed on this hotel page as $16/night. It was $72…..for less than 12 hours that I stayed overnight. That’s fine if they choose to charge that much, but PLEASE be transparent about it upfront.
