About this house rental
The ocean views from almost every room of our mid-century modern home are truly amazing. The coast has majestic rock formations that the waves crash over and make cascading waterfalls with each wave. Listening to the waves as you fall asleep each night is very relaxing. Our home is large and all rooms are spacious, all one level with no stairs. We live here as well as rent it while we travel so we chose quality in all areas of the home. Recently purchased, we have replaced all the flooring, all the furniture, beds and bedding, window treatments, freshly painted inside top to bottom. You can have a BBQ on the deck while enjoying enjoy the views. There are many seabirds that are always in the sky, pelicans and osprey fishing in the surf is our favorite. Of course the seagulls off in the distance with their signature calls completes the scene.
The town of Brookings is a fishing harbor and the seafood is fresh and delicious. Buy fresh fish or crab from the docs and cook at home or chose from the many restaurants in town. Or for an adventure take advantage of one of the many fishing fleets in the harbor and catch the fish yourself. You can antique shop, go to the movie theatre, stroll the beach or just stay home and take in the views.
There are also really interesting hiking options. Stroll along the beaches that you can see from the house or take short drives to numerous beach trails or hike in redwood forests. Oceans, rivers and forests…hard to beat! We allow pets only if they are completely potty trained. We have new carpetting in the bedrooms and if there any accidents there will be $100 charge.

We loved the house and the incredible views. The sunsets were gorgeous! We also were able to watch a whale (with binoculars) who showed up every afternoon to feed in the waters near the house. The house is well-stocked and the owners thought of small things for our comfort such as a basket of blankets in the living room for chilly mornings and evenings. The house is just a few minutes walk to Harris Beach although the closest beach access is a bit steep, at least for the oldest members of our group. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

Cozy and comfortable. Plenty of spots to chat, read a book or just take in the view. Hosts were great.

Beautiful home that was built in the 1940’s. Original tile and wood paneling. The house is very spacious with beautiful, sweeping ocean views that continues from room to room. This home is meticulously kept with high quality linens on the beds and tasteful, eclectic furnishings throughout. The hosts have gone out of their way to make our stay wonderful and memorable!
Also, very close walking trails to the state park and beach access.
Thank you Thomas and Teri for being perfect hosts, making yourselves available to answer our questions, and sharing your jewel of a home. Don’t change a thing. We loved our time here, and look forward to visiting again.

Wonderful get together time with friends in a spacious and comfortable house overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The walk to the beach was easy and the beach was fun to explore.

Wow - this house has some notable mid century character and was the perfect home base for our small group! Really stunning and memorable views from all over the house-- and all of us were RAVING about wanting to come back by the time we had to leave. We didn't want to leave! I typically stay in newer builds but this older home is one of my favorite stays in a while-- so if you're like me in that way, I say go for it!! Great and communicative host also!

Wonderful house with world class views. Comfortable and close to town.

I can't overstate how fantastic the views are from the house. Everything was clean and well organized, bed in the master bedroom was comfortable.

A great property with a robust historical story and a lot of care into maintaining the property. The views are incredible regardless of the weather. The beach is just a short 10-15min walk away from the house. This home seems very assessable as there’s only one step and it’s to enter the house, everything else is at level. The master bedroom is breathtaking between the view and the bathroom. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need and there’s some wonderful artwork on the walls throughout the property, some of which i believe was painted by the owner.
Very dog friendly area and property. I can’t recommend this property enough for a family/friends getaway.

My family and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving here! We really enjoyed the nights there was a full moon and we could watch the ocean with all the lights off. The pool table was a great way to keep us all laughing and have a good time.

Our family was fortunate to be able to stay in this wonderful beach house and view the mighty swells of the storm in its safety and comfort. Everything described in the listing was as we found it. We recommend it unequivocally.

Beautiful, big house with an amazing view and has everything we needed for a wonderful stay with our family. We cooked meals, played pool and other games, went to the nearby Harris Beach and other beaches every day. All the beds were comfortable. And did I mention the view?!?!

Amazing spacious house and location! Owners have kept the integrity of this 1947 home but added modern conveniences! Very nice amenities! All you could hope for in a vacation rental: nice furnishings, all kitchen needs, and space for own food and clothing (which is not always the case). Thank you Tom & Teri for being such great hosts and sharing your beautiful place! We will definitely be back!

This home is incredible! The pictures don't do it justice. Everything was immaculate. The views were incredible. The hosts were fantastic, communicated throughout the process and made their home feel welcome to my family. The location to the nearby state park with amazing tide pools can't be beat. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

The property was beyond our thoughts. It accommodates those using walkers, with wide hallways and accessible decking. Steps into house were minimal and it had two walk in showers with shower chairs. Kitchen had everything we could think of. Also, ice maker for those cool drinks. Huge windows for our whale watching delight. Highly recommend for a group get away.

Nothing about this home disappointed us. Everything was perfect and such a spectacular location. If you want ocean views you cannot EVER find something to match it, House was perfect for our 3 couples. Loved Brookings and the two restaurants we went to. Hosts were fantastic!

The house is great! And we loved that its original character has been maintained, despite being updated for comfort. It is spacious, clean, comfortable, and well-outfitted. The view is amazing and the beach a short walk away. We appreciated that the host was helpful and accommodating. We look forward to coming back.

We had an awesome stay. The pictures don't do the property justice as the views are just breath-taking. Peaceful, Restful & Relaxing....5 Stars... no wait, I'll double that = 10 Stars!

WOW! The pictures just don't capture the beauty of this property! This nostalgic home could not be more cozy, with breathtaking ocean views from most every room. Our 91 year old mother had no problem moving around the home in her wheelchair and walker.
Hosts Tom and Teri have gone to great lengths to provide all the
comforts of home. We spent 4 very relaxing days....it was hard to leave. Be sure to check out the history of the home!
Looking forward to another visit in the near future.

We stayed for 4 nights over spring break. We would have loved to have stayed more but unfortunately had other commitments. 4 nights is never enough. It was such a lovely, cozy home. So many breathtaking views from the kitchen, breakfast nook, living room, dining table, work-out room, and master bedroom and bathroom. I especially loved the huge window in the master bedroom. It took up the entire wall! I slept so good in the comfy bed and waking up to the ocean right outside was so peaceful. The house is comfortable, well stocked with everything you need to cook or BBQ, and it has really nice towels and a nice washer and dryer. The house is located down a private drive with a few other houses. There is a city-maintained bike trail that takes you right to Harris Beach South, and it was a quick 12 minute walk from the house to the sand. The hill was a little steep down and up to the beach from the parking lot, no problems for us, but for someone who is mobility-challenged, I would suggest driving to the main Harris Beach North where there is easier access to the beach (a ramp). It was also an easy walk to town for the teens, who liked to go get snacks. We hiked the Redwood Nature Trail, which is a short drive up the North Bank of the Chetco. It is a 1.6 mile loop trail with some hills, but nothing too strenuous. A beautiful hike with massive trees, waterfalls, and lots of ferns and moss. We spent some time at Chetco Point, which was also very easily accessible and a nice little hike. Careful with little ones though, it does have some steep drop-offs on the sides of the trail. We also saw quite a few whales, which was a lot of fun with the binoculars. Overall, this was one of our favorite houses and you can't go wrong with Brookings. Lots of fun things to do and see. Thanks for letting us stay and we definitely would love to come again one day!

The pix don’t do justice. This little gem will blow you away. The views are amazing. The period decor is well preserved and comforting. Reminds me of my grandparents’ mid century home. The kitchen is well appointed and the living/sleeping spaces are cozy and comfy. You definitely feel like you are at a friend or family’s home, not a rental. The furniture is comfortable and practical yet stylish. Being able to bring my elderly cats that need daily meds allowed me to relax even more. The pool table is great to pass the time and the dinning area will serve well for games and puzzles as well as meals. The hosts were so easy to reach and helpful in finding small things we hadn’t yet found. They really wanted us to fully enjoy ourselves and are proud of their home. The bedrooms can get cool at night (yeah lots of windows for the views) but the bedding is very cozy and toasty and the rooms have little heaters you can use if needed. We enjoyed the close proximity to the beach, the small interesting shops and the hosts had good recommendations for food and services. I want to keep this place a secret to come again and again but to be fair y’all need to enjoy it as well. You will not be disappointed. I do recommend getting reservations for fishing before you come. They were booked before we arrived.

We took a long weekend to unwind with our adult daughters, and this property was everything we hoped for. It is a beautiful, clean, well-appointed home with character and beach views galore! All of our needs were anticipated, with only a 10-15 minute walk to the beach via a trail. Wifi, pool table, cozy, convenient, and truly dog-friendly - everything we wanted.

A truly beautiful house with magnificent views. The house has all the amenities you could ask for. Hosts are kind and welcoming. The house is kid and pet friendly. We enjoyed a magical trip there and hope to stay there again.
