We booked this hotel as a stay for the night after atrending a black tie event. Well, the event was cancelled but i thought that we may as well keep the room anyway. One of my better decisions. From arrival, the atmosphere was friendly, the Harveys bitter well kept and the evening meal was great. Steak & Venison pie for me and Gammon steak fir my fiancé, with a side dish of topped toasted potatoes. The room was clean and spacious, and we found a welcome note from Sarah (the maid) welcoming us. Nice personal touch. Breakfast was also great. Perhaps the only slight nighle was that the duvet was possibly a little small. Butt maybe i'm just a closet duvet hog. All in all, we can thoroughly recommend this gem of an Inn.

Really enjoyed the stay. Room excellent with some good quirky ornaments. Bathroom roomy with bath and large shower. Staff were really helpful and food was good.

Lovely views, great service, room classy and very clean. Good breakfast also. Useful location for visit to Brighton and Hove - bus stop outside takes about 30 mins, costs £2. Would most definitely stay again.

An absolutely fabulous stay. Spacious room with comfortable bed. Cleanliness was perfect in both room and bathroom. The bathroom itself was stylish with a lovely shower. Breakfast was ample and very very tasty. Good quality TV, and room service was available with meals from the bar I noticed (I did not need this service). Even though on a main road the noise was minimal so assume there was good double glazing. There was some noise with music from the downstairs bar but this finished at a reasonable hour. For the price the Downs Hotel in my eyes is a little gem.

The Good: Rooms are impeccably clean, stylish, roomy and comfortable Very comfy bed with beautiful bed linen High quality shampoo and shower gel provided Nespresso machine in the room Onsite parking It’s on a busy junction but soundproofing is excellent Great location for walking on South Downs. Regular buses go to Brighton centre (15 minute journey) or 1 hour walk Breakfast included is decent and cooked to order. Restaurant on site for evening meal. Fish and Chip shop close by is an excellent option too. Friendly staff. The Bad: The in-room internet service provider blocks all ‘adult’ websites - even for adults! The milk provided with the tea-making equipment in the room is full-fat (dairy). This is very strange in 2024 and in Brighton in particular. A better option would be for dairy milk to be semi-skimmed and there also to be oat milk sachets

Beautiful room with lots of space. Great for a family. We plan to stay here again. The breakfast was also amazing! Oh and the location was only a 5minute drive from the marina which has free parking.

What a great hotel/ pub. Usually stay on the sea front but this was a last minute need to go to Brighton and the prices were very expensive. Found the Downs Hotel, on arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, was shown to my room which was upgraded from a single to a double without and charge. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and a lovely modern bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities were great with coffee machine even. The room was nice and warm and had obviously been cleaned to perfection by Sarah who had left me a personalised card. Breakfast was included, i had a full english cooked to perfection with two of everyting! A very enjoyable stay and will definately be staying there again on my next trip in a month or so.

A nice, welcoming pub. Room and en suite very good with comfortable bed. Unable to have breakfast as it was not available till 7.30 and we were leaving at that time for the ferry. Bar and food were fine, no problem. Unfortunately, the pub is on a very busy road junction, and this made it noisy. Also, as our room was at the front and overlooked the outside seating area, it was also noisy.

What a fabulous place to stay in , we checked in and was upgraded for free , we stayed for two nights and honestly this is the best cleanest ,friendly and welcoming place , the staff couldn’t be more helpful , I certainly recommend you to stay here could have stayed longer we enjoyed every minute . Fantastic stay at the downs hotel. Came here for trip to Brighton was so convenient with bus stop outside. Such a lovely warm welcome from staff and really nice pub and rooms. Extremely cosy and clean. Had dinner and breakfast at hotel we didn’t want to leave! We will be back. One of the best family rooms we have stayed in.

Lovely hotel 20 mins bus ride outside of Brighton. Amazing breakfast included. All of the staff were really friendly. We were a family of four and the room was big enough for us all. Would definitely recommend and if we return to Brighton we will stay here again.

Really lovely stay in a great pub. The food was delicious (dinner& breakfast), the service outstanding and the room recently refurbished, was beautifully decorated and comfortable with a seaview on top of all! We stayed there with our 7 years old daughter on a Saturday night and didn't get bothered by the noise from the pub as it was well soundproofed. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting Brighton.

The hotel is located at a nice area just outside of Brighton, the room I was staying at was clean and spacious. With the windows closed the road outside was barely noticeable. Everything required for a comfortable stay was available and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Great hotel/pub very clean and modern, only issue was road noise even with additional soundproofing on windows - boy racers with loud music and exhaust systems. Apart from noise hotel was near perfect I would defo stay again

Ok place. Basic but comfy room but right on top of a major road junction. Wouid be boiling hot in summer too. Breakfast had to be abandoned as way too slow. Dinner was very average, overcooked veg and small portions.

Welcoming, friendly, casual place to stay. Room had all you need. Clean and fresh. Some maintenance 'teething issues e.g. damp/ mould on skirtingboard. Food 3 star dining. Some lighter, smaller portioned options would be a welcome addition to the evening menu. Popular with local community.

Really pleased to have found this hotel. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and the rooms was just right. Breakfast was great with lots of choice! It has good access to all areas of Brighton and regular bus services. The very unusual thing is that is has plenty of parking and free, rare in Brighton! I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Room was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful throughout stay and informative of the local area. Food in the evening was great too. I have driven past The Downs Hotel many times on my way to stay in Brighton Marina for work in the area. The Down is definitely my new choice of hotel in the Brighton and Hove area.

Had a really great overnight stay here. The rooms are really well decorated and furnished with everything you need. Spotlessly clean and had a really good nights sleep in the comfy bed. Breakfast was included which was lovely and set me up for the day ahead. Would really recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the area for business or pleasure. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
