Sailing is a two-bedroom, reverse floor plan cottage centrally located to all of the island's amenities. Both bedrooms have access to ocean front porches. The living room, kitchen and dining areas are upstairs, providing exceptional views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Sailing is located on the ocean shores of Flora's Bluff, which has won national architecture awards for design and environmental planning. Flora's Bluff's architectural style was inspired by the legendary Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port and in the spirit of classical New England coastal villages, and has been featured in Southern Living, Coastal Living and Golf Digest.

Sailing has tv's in both bedrooms and in the living room. The cottage also has wifi and a stereo system. Sailing comes equipped with a 4 passenger golf cart

We had a very nice stay at ‘Sailing.’ We loved the ocean view from porch, the easy access to the beach, and the central location of the house to access other areas of the island in the golf cart provided. Additionally we appreciated that some starter supplies of laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, hand soap, and dish soap that were provided. The check in process was easy, and we had good communication from the property management team. A few things would have improved our stay. Kitchen supplies need some attention: poor condition pots and pans, excessive amounts of spatulas, mixing spoons, but no tongs. No wine glasses. The bar stools are unusable due to being too high for the counter. The beach chairs were all broken and unusable except for 2. The mattress in bedroom with en-suite bathroom needs to be replaced, it is sunken and the coils can be felt. Overall it was a nice house, that just needs a little attention and some updates. With those improvements we would absolutely stay there again.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was our first visit to Bald Head Island. We liked direct access to the beach from the house and the view of the beach and water from the top floor. We loved the location for exploring various parts of the island by golf cart. We liked the inverted house plan with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living space upstairs. The house was very clean. The kitchen bar stools were unusable (too high - the legs need to be cut down by 6 inches). Kitchen supplies were ok - there were some spices, and other dry goods from prior guests (which is always nice), and starter supplies like a roll of paper towels and a small bottle of dish soap. Cookware was ok - enough to make due. It lacked a good sized bowl - for tossing a salad or for popcorn. The beds were just ok - one had somewhat of a depression in the middle; the other was very squeaky - any movement made a good bit of noise. There were beach towels and at least two of the beach chairs were functional (another two were broken). The golf cart is in good condition. I nearly missed critical communications from the property manager as they did not use the VRBO messaging system, which is what I was looking for. Fortunately, I caught the messages in my secondary email account before it was too late. They were very responsive and professional once I connected with them. We would definitely consider staying here again. 4.5 stars overall.

This is our 2nd visit to Sailing. The 1st for our 30th annv and this one for our 35th. We were joined by my sis & hubby for their 30th. We loved the smaller home! The peace & quiet, spectacular views, and mostly empty beach was just what we experienced the first time around! We will NOT wait 5 years to come back to Sailing!!!!

We love staying at Sailing and is our second time staying here. The home is beautifully furnished and was perfect for our small family. Our 7 year old loved all of the decor inside which provides for lots of fun learning. Great beach views and would highly recommend.

Beautiful property. Only complaint was the tv in the living area went out on the 2nd day of our 3 day stay. The replacement tv didn’t work either. Positive sorta was my husband left his suit in the closet and I was impressed with the fact they mailed it for free. Until we got the 20 charge. I guess I figured no tv for 2 days that was the least they could have done. Oh well!! Beautiful home!!! Would definitely recommend!

Sailing was on a great location. Clean and well stocked Oceanfront view from upper deck The beach was easy to access No problems with the property. Gas grill would have been nice Charcoal one available Would definitely stay again !! Only 1 bike but you can rent them on the island

Beautiful place, however I would recommend for a small young family of five or less. Place was beautiful, but for three big teenagers, the loft does not close up, meaning it can be loud. The views though are great, and everything was updated. View off loft was beautiful. Kitchen up to date also

Kitchen is very limited in cookware. Cleaning crew needed to vacuum floors (sandy floors) and empty coffee pot. One set of porch furniture was broken (black wicker furniture). Should be discarded. Great location, view, and beach access.

Loved staying there. Great view, great screen porch with fabulous breeze, fenced in area for dog to go out (but wish it was totally closed in). However my dog is not adventurous so it didn’t really matter but could for some. A bit a trellis could correct that situation. Will be returning in September

We really enjoyed our stay here. It has a reverse floor plan, so the views from the living area on the top floor are great! I loved sitting on the top deck after putting the kids to bed, listening to the waves with a glass of wine. The first night there, we had some periods of clear skies, and the stars were amazing! Unfortunately, it was pretty cloudy all of the following nights. We also enjoyed eating lunch on the upstairs deck. The downstairs deck includes a screened-in portion, which was nice for dinner there in the evenings (though you had to take all the food from upstairs, down through the bedrooms to do this). The screen on the porch door needs to be repaired. I would have appreciated screens on the windows and doors so that we could leave them open to hear and feel the ocean breeze. October is a great time to be there as the air is usually warm, but not hot, and so screens would be great. Location is fantastic for beach lovers! It is also very central as far as location along the coast. It's a little close to some of the other homes around it, but it was fine. I suspect the people living next to us (seemed like residents, not renters) probably would have liked to be farther away as their dogs barked every time they saw our kids, but it wasn't much of a bother to us. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, knives, gadgets, etc. There were THREE different types of coffee makers! We are not coffee drinkers, so I ended up moving them to the buffet area to free up counter space, but I can see that at least one would be appreciated by coffee drinkers. The women's bike worked just fine. The men's bike had a completely flat tire. This was fine as I was bike riding each day, while my husband likes to run for his exercise. The golf cart worked well. It rained one of the days, and I was thinking that rain covers would have been nice. Then as we parked the golf cart that evening I saw them sitting in a box in the garage! It would have been nice if they had been attached and just rolled up. I'm not even sure how to attach them, but I suspect we could have figured it out had we seen them in time for the rain. We would definitely stay here again.

The location of the property was very convenient to quickly access the beach with our 2 dogs and twin 5 year old boys. Made it very easy to run back and forth to the beach for lunch, etc. Also nice to be on the center part of the island close to the Maritime Market. The beach nourishment project has left a very spacious and uncrowded beach for enjoyment. Wonderful views from the 2nd story. Would strongly recommend and stay there again.

We truly enjoyed our week at "Sailing". The property is in the amazing Floras Bluff neighborhood of Bald Head Island. The picturesque design and land planning nestles the Martha's Vineyard inspired homes around rolling sand dunes all connected via boardwalks. The beach was virtually completely empty all week. I am not sure I have ever seen anything on the East Coast quite like it. The home is clean but definitely needs some work, windows are so fogged you can't see your view, hardwood floor are rotting under the windows, the ceilings show signs of major water leaks. But, the location will make you forgive all the not so perfect details. Enjoy your trip.

Rented this property for three nights during our son's wedding weekend. Couldn't have been happier with it! Perfect size for two people. Very clean, comfortable. Modern appliances, great beach location. We would definitely rent this house again...Thanks for a great stay!

We did not stay at this property. When we arrived there was a full-on construction project, which was incredibly noisy, immediately next door. We immediately called Bald Head Island services and they helped us move to a different property.

Ideal for two couples or a family of four. Great location on BHI, up-to-date, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a nice entertainment system. The one quibble was that the bikes were rusty and one had a flat tire, and I couldn't find a pump. I would definitely rent again.

We had never been to BHI so we’re not sure what to expect. It was a quiet and relaxing week for the holiday. There was beautiful view of the beach and ocean from the deck each morning and evening. The entire family had a great time and we would definitely go back.

The view, partial fenced-in yard, and the Palmolive were the best parts. The house is due for some updates and cleaning. The wifi connection was incorrect, the golf cart broke, many of the light bulbs were out or not even present (no replacements), and beds were small. Dirty glass of cigarette butts present, puzzle and game chest was disgustingly dirty, and a piece of the molding (which has been taped on) fell one night - super scary. It pained me to have to call the mgmt company multiple times, as it pains me to write a less than stellar review. However, you don’t know what you don’t know. The company was responsive during the week and on the emergency line (when we were stranded).I hope this place gets the TLC it needs because the view and convenience to the beach is wonderful.

We greatly appreciate being able to stay in this oceanfront home, however the pictures do not show all the work that needs to be done. Great oceanfront view and we love the Floras Bluff area. The house unfortunately needs a lot of makeovers. Not sure what happened with the inside paint job. Looks like water leaks and bad painting. Since we stayed off season, I am ok with what we paid, but if I had stayed in season and paid the higher price I would be very disappointed. Has great potential if money was invested to fix it up.

The home appeared neglected and lacked basic maintenance and care. For instance, bathroom sink didn’t drain; the golf cart battery didn’t hold a charge and was quite dirty and lacked the rain shield; the bikes were not operable; the shower door continually was off its track; the towels were frayed and did not smell fresh; the slats were coming off of deck chairs; and the pillows were uncommonly uncomfortable. But the view off the balcony was wonderful.

Sailing was the perfect house for our family! The layout was great, the views were amazing, and the close access to the beach was perfect. Would definitely go back!
