Had a family gathering here including an evening meal. Food, service and staff were excellent

The hotel itself is nice with good staff. We had a lovely welcome at reception. Our room was tucked away from any noise but to be fair we didn't hear anything. The room was spacious but felt a little tired and the carpet had a couple of stains. We had a drink in the bar which whilst pleasant felt expensive at £18. I think as a hotel venue people look pass a lot of the issues but as a couple I'm not sure I'd return.

A very nice and comfortable hotel, with excellent and friendly staff. Food is very good too and the hotel is in a lovely location, only reservation is that there is no lift so guests should be aware that they should ask for a lower floor if they need it.

Food was expensive and not value for money. One restaurant with limited choice. Every morning, there was an issue with our breakfast - food cold, needed reheating, omelette was a disaster !
TV very limited , only ‘free view’ channels and the remote didn’t work properly.
Used shower once and the bathroom flooded, didn’t use shower again.
Not the relaxing weekend we had planned.

Apart from other guests keeping.us awake through the night we had a wonderful stay in Upton St Leonards Mercure hotel. All the people working there were extremley friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is a lovely place to stay and the rooms are clean, warm and have everything needed.

Very tired place, with dirty, stained furniture and carpets. Staff ok, service ok. Very comfortable bed.

From start to finish the staff and venue were wonderful. The area, the weather was on our side and managed to get outside in the sun . Made the trip even better. Excellent choices of beers and food. We’ll be back again

Hotel looks a little tired. Our room just what we wanted, but bathroom door lock faulty, and bathroom door paint peeling off near floor.

The hotel was comfortable and in a quiet village. It had a nice and big garden, really great for weddings and other events. Even though there was a conference, the place had plenty of rooms and large dining areas.
Food was pretty good.
There was a small fitness center with the main machines for a quick exercise.

It was okay

Staff great except the cook as the food in the evening was terrible

The surroundings were lovely but decor and furniture in the public areas were shabby, tired and in need of refurbishment. Drinks in rhe bar were overpriced

The staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were lovely and clean, the grounds were pleasant.
Good range of options at breakfast but would have liked porridge available. Having just one coffee machine in the dining room led to long queues. Suggest staff serve coffee in pots as they do with tea.

It seemed that windows are never cleaned thick in dirt and spiders
Poorly maintained window frames couldn’t be closed

Beautiful grounds, very impressive interior, quiet location. Reasonably priced. Decent vegetarian options.
Only downside were the stairs to the room (I had asked for ground floor), although a staff member did help me carry my baggage.

Lovely looking property set in nice grounds. Rooms a decent size. Staff friendly and nice restaurant.
Rooms very hot. Is the underfloor heating on in the summer? Hard to sleep. Also no lift so disabled people need to book ground floor room.

lovely welcome but the reception, building is pleasantly decorated. our room was in the top floor which involved several flights of stairs with no lift, not a problem for us but if you have limited mobility it's could be an issue. Room was clean and tidy, air conditioning would have been nice on the hottest day of the year so far but a ln electric fan was supplied which was better than nothing. we ate in the restaurant and found the food to be very good and good value. The bar and waiting staff were very good. Breakfast was also very good with a wide variety of options.

Enjoyed our stay. We always stay here when travelling from Scotland to the south of England.

A lot of things could be improved at a small cost, I would love to spend a day with the manager to point out things that would improve the look of the hotel and the outside spaces having spent many years in the building industry helping people with their home's and properties.

Overall decent.

Hotel was nice, staff very friendly and good service and surprisingly more affordable than most other hotels I’ve been in lately. Bedroom was a good size but as it was in the top floor it was in the eves and had sloped ceilings everywhere
Could not sit up in bed to watch tv as the sloped ceiling pushes your head forward, a bit annoying but not the end of the world.
Dinner in the restaurant was nice, had seabsss which was lovely

The hotel was well located for our visit to various attractions that we knew we wanted to visit. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and despite 3 wedding taking place during the weekend whilst we were there, these didn't interfere with our stay, noise wise or people wise, so not obtrusive to non-wedding guests. Room was a good size and very clean. Couldn't fault our stay.

We were very impressed with Bowden Hall. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Francesca, on reception, went above and beyond to make our stay perfect.

Lovely hotel, lovely staff etc etc

Staff were nice but the property is showing its age. The lack of an elevator and labyrinth to reach the room was a bit of a pain.

A 2 day stay with friends, lovely hotel,...First night was fine at dinner, 2nd night clashed with a "murder mystery night" and dining room staff were under pressure to provide a prompt service. (2 hours for 2 courses) Menu needs to change more frequently, perhaps providing a changeable "specials" board?

A very enjoyable stay. Staff very friendly and professional. Thank you.

The hotel is in a very peaceful countryside location, but only 10 to 15 minutes from Gloucester, with good road links to the rest of the Cotswolds. Check in was easy and the staff were all very friendly, even though it was a very busy bank holiday weekend with two weddings and coach parties arriving. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent, with plenty of choice and at reasonable prices. The bedrooms were very spacious, with really big comfortable beds and good en-suite facilities. We had a lovely stay and would definitely book again.

Went there for family wedding. Staff were excellent. Thought rooms okay little bit dated but fine

When you pay full wack for a room which is on Floor 4 with no lift and find the sloping ceilings lead to many bangs on the head that is annoying enough? But first in the restaurant place order the 20 mins later the budget coach trip arrives then to watch them all eating and I am still waiting in fact 52 minutes before getting my one meal that is not on? They need to look at who their customer base is real guests or budget trips?

Hotel had a very relaxed ambience, and we had good food and a comfortable room. Receptionist was enthusiastically welcoming, extremely efficient and very helpful.

The lounge bar was rather dirty with the seats and we had to ask for our table to be cleaned at 5pm
Our bathroom was spotlessly clean I thought.
The bedroom carpet was horrible.
I really enjoyed the breakfast choice and the staff at breakfast were great.

Actually good food, WiFi was terrible but all good
2.5 / 5.0
The service from the staff was excellent and they couldn't of been more helpful. The food selection was great and cooked perfectly. Sadly some of the edges of carpet around the building is either missing or damaged. I can only assume this just happens with consistent use over a long period of time. Perhaps consider replacing the carpets in the building in the future when costs permit? One other minor thing would be to put power outlets closer to the bedside to allow phone charging at night without it being on the other side of the room. (Perhaps install just little USB ones?)
