Great stay at the Foundation. Very friendly staff. Great location and the hotel is hosued in a gorgeous building which once was the HQ for the Detroit Fire Department.

Charming, if a bit odd. It clearly wasn’t designed to be a hotel. My room was very large and comfortable. The shower is big and luxurious. I didn’t dine in the restaurant but got a croissant to take out. It was made in house and remarkably good. I wish I’d had a meal in the restaurant. Try to avoid a run in the back side of the hotel, especially on the lower floors. There’s noise and the trash dumpster every morning around 5:30, especially on Thursday when the trash trucks arrived.

Great choice for taking in a Detroit Red Wings game. Easy Uber there and back. The room was spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Great facility and great service. However, our room faced Cobo Hall (now called something else) with a very big video screen that was on all night long and the blinds didn’t screen out the pulsating color changes. Also one side of the room was very dark

Cool property and great restaurant and staff. However, the front desk and valet staff were not friendly, considerate or welcoming. For example, the alarm went off at 3 am from the previous guest and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I checked out later that morning and mentioned it to the front desk lady so that housekeeping could fix it as it isn’t a regular alarm clock. She didn’t say anything. Didn’t apologize for the inconvenience or anything. When we arrived as well the front desk staff wasn’t welcoming. Same with valet. These are the first and last people guests interact with so they require better training to best represent the brand and provide a better customer experience.

The service here is off the charts! Requested a coffee maker in the room and it was there, with coffee, when I checked in. Every question I texted was promptly answered. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. The bar is great, craft cocktails in a relaxed vibe. Food in the restaurant was on par for 4 star spots. I travel roughly 25 weeks per year and this is the best boutique hotel I’ve stayed in during 2024. I’ll be back.

We stayed here two nights while in Detroit for a Tiger's baseball game. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and helpful, providing a list of area food recommendations. Accommodations were exceptional and the rooms were extremely clean. The decor was lovely throughout the hotel and the bar/restaurant was beautiful. We only had cocktails at the Apparatus Room; the staff were wonderful as were our drinks. Valet parking was easy ($45/night) and we mainly walked or took a Lyft to get around. The hotel is within walking distance of Comerica Park, the waterfront, many restaurants and shopping. The hotel gym was nice and had plenty of space, including two Peloton's. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and will be back the next time we stay in Detroit.

I love the Aparium hotels. This is my second (I stayed at the Surety Hotel in Des Moines two weeks ago). The staff are super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great. There is a well equipped gym. I spent a day working in the lobby. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. Five stars.

I chose this hotel for a one night getaway for my wife and I based on the aesthetic and was pleasantly surprised at the level of service we received. The valet was kind, and check-in was fast and friendly. Visually, the hotel is amazing and the pics posted so not do it justice. The room was clean as well as all the public areas. We took brunch in the Apparatus Room and I chose the breakfast sandwich and she chose the waffles. Bothe were amazing. The one improvement I would suggest is to expand the menu to a few more items.

The hotel is well located - close to both the free Q train and the free People Mover train and walking distance from Woodward Street, downtown's main street. Staff makes suggestions for sightseeing.

Overall a very good hotel. Everyone working there was very kind. I went home for 2 nights and they were great about keeping luggage and accepting packages. I wish they had a different section about room service, this is why I gave service a worse rating. My room service was awful. The bread was inedible, like it was a week old, for something like $11 or $15. The carrots were something entirely different, it was nice, but not what I ordered. No recycling in the hotel which is disappointing. They still use small single use bottles.
