Overall, my stay was good and hotel is conveniently located. However, the front desk failed to provide me with any receipt/invoice for my stay. I was told that I receive it via email, but that never happened. I tried to contact reservations several times via email or telephone, but they never answered. Even hotels.com tried to get in touch with them but also failed. I don’t know what to do since I need the invoice to expense my stay. Never had such behavior from a hotel like this before.

Wonderful unique inn stay. The inn is a restored mansion and it's really fancy inside. But it's not a hotel. It's an Inn. The art and the interior layout and the furnishings in the rooms is like stepping back in time, to a more luxurious period. It's got a lot of charm and character and I for one would stay here again. The not so good : Wifi didn't reach the room we stayed in. No in room fridge or phone. Concierge is part time (it is an Inn and not a hotel after all). Continental breakfast only. It is an old (incredibly well restored) mansion. The walls and floors are thin.... And people stay for a night or two like in a hotel. Sometimes people are extra friendly when they stay in a hotel room. The walls are very thin and not sound insulated.

I will say this, compared to the “three hots and a cot” most people in Detroit are probably used to this place may seem like an upgrade. Upon entering our room we were greeted with a double bed not a queen; hair on the bed- like A HAIR strands of hair. A rug that was dirty and had not been washed in ages, hair in the shower drain, hair clippings in the sink, as well as tile falling off the tub surround. We were told the property was sold out and we could not change rooms. We were also told that several of the issues we brought up- the cleanliness and the shower issues would be resolved when we returned from Dinner. And of course THEY WERE NOT FIXED. They claimed they did; maybe they cleaned the wrong room? They had so many vacancies I can understand how they would've made the mistake with it being so empty. The parking lot had 3 total Vehicles so the property was not sold out. We were repeatedly told this is a queen bed despite putting a measuring tape on it and illustrating the measurements matched what Google said a double bed size was; and several Amazon links for double mattresses. I am 5’10 255 she is 6’1 170 so a double isn’t working. After realizing we would not be accommodating we left shortly after midnight and found other accommodations

This is a fun experience for couples or solo travelers. The rooms in this 19th-century home are cozy and comfortable. Guests have access to common living spaces and a kitchen. After exploring Detroit each day, reading and sipping tea in the front room, complete with period furniture, was very relaxing. It's a short walk to downtown and the various sports complexes. The staff were friendly and helpful. One minor quibble: They don't answer email or "contact us" forms on their website. If you have a question, you have to call.

Charged me for two rooms when my reservation AND receipt say one room. Told me I had to cancel the room with 72 hours…. Explain to me how I can cancel a reservation I didn’t even know I had? The house itself is beautiful, but the staff is so uninformed and rude.
