About this house rental
Summary:
This is a newly remodeled home with a colorful and artsy vibe. Featured works from local artists are on every wall! Our home is just minutes away from local shops, breweries, the Golden 1 Center, Sacramento State University, major highways and bustling midtown; the UC Davis Med Center is less than a mile away, too.
The Space:
The entire 3 bedroom unit is available for access. There’s a small front and rear porch area that guests are welcomed to use.
NOTE: there is an attached ADU (rental unit) that is rented to an on site worker. The worker does not have access to the main home and has his own separate entrance to the ADU.
Your booking actually helps real artists within the community! Their art is featured in the house and also available for purchase :)
The garage is a closed space and is kept locked. It is not available for access.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit. Feel free to park in the gated driveway or enjoy free parking on the street in front of the house!
The Neighborhood:
Hollywood Park is an established, safe and quiet neighborhood. The residents are easy going. The house itself is about a 5 minute drive from the always fun broadway triangle (in Oak Park); an area with great shops, breweries, and an awesome bookstore. We love the Plant Foundry (nursery and garden) and think you might, too.
Also close by are two great breweries. Track 7 is a local favorite for craft beer. Two rivers is another local favorite literally a 2 minute walk from the house. They’ve got delicious options for beer and ale. Just down the street is Curtis park. It’s full of gorgeous trees, green grass and the perfect walking path.
William land park is also 2 minutes away, full of trees, a running trail and the Sacramento Zoo!
Getting Around:
If you get the chance, try the city's newest form of transit - electric scooter sharing! Electric scooters are becoming more and more popular in the area and are a really fun way to get around. Of course Uber and Lyft are readily available, too.
Public transportation runs up and down the main cross street
Other Things to Note:
The garage is locked and not available for access.
NOTE: We do NOT HAVE cable services. We offer streaming services such as Netflix, Roku, Prime, & Hulu. (Guest has to use their own Netflix account)
Interaction with Guests:
At the front door, you can say "Hi" with the Nest Video Doorbell - just push the button (if you want to)
We leave basic household information on the kitchen table. This includes wifi, tv navigation, temperature control instructions, and a great guide for things nearby. We have lived in Sacramento for over 30 years and can provide great recommendations for some great local food - just ask .
If you need anything else, you can call or message.

The neighborhood is not the greatest, but was surprised how quiet it was. It's across the street from a fire station so that probably helped. When we approached the house we noticed a bunch of cobwebs around the front door. I had to kill a black widow to enter the home. There were weeds so it hadn't been maintained in a while. The second day the owners father was trimming them which was kind awkward when we arrived. The home looked to be recently updated. The water had rust coming out of it (water was dirty), so I would suggest replacing the water heater. We found an Alexa device plugged in which can be used to remotely listen in on the property. We quickly unpowered it. The only other major concerning thing we found was what appeared to be a "drug spoon" which was found by my my teen daughter in the bedroom nightstand. Luckily she didn't touch it. It would have also been nice if there was local/cable television.

Very clean rental with bright airy rooms

We had a wonderful stay and the host was quick to respond to questions. The living space is great, large and allowed for our group to hang out comfortably, the bedrooms were very comfortable, but the yard is completely unmaintained and overgrown with weeds. Also, the front door drape situation definitely needs to be fixed. Lastly, the recommendation to go to the brewery block away is a good one, we had a great time there.

The stay left me with mixed feelings. The inside of the house is great; nice and clean. The living room and kitchen are very large with plenty of seating. The house is well stocked with utensils and dishes. The owner was very responsive to communication. The neighborhood near the property could be concerning to some, but it was a quiet and safe location.
However there were a few concerns. The listing stated it was a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, however that is inaccurate. There are 3 bedrooms with 4 beds total, and only 2 bathrooms. The yard was unkempt with very tall grass and foxtails. The front door is difficult to use and figure out how to properly lock it so we used the side door. We were provided plenty of towels and washclothes, but not enough hand towels. The iron had some sort of residue burned to it and even after scrubbing it with a towel, there was still residue deposited onto my clothing. The air conditioner seemed to have a mind of its own. 69 degress felt like 72, but 68 degrees felt like 65.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and the property could easily be a 5 star property with a few minor updates to the listing and supplies provided and regular yard maintenance.

This property has potential to improve, but a few concerns arose during our stay. The property is located on the border of a middle class neighborhood and an area of Sacramento that is struggling economically and prone to property crime and vandalism. I can see how some people might not feel safe walking around the neighborhood, especially at night. The property itself looked like a recent conversion, nice and comfortable enough on the inside but the front and back yards still needed a lot of work. The backyard was not usable due to weeds and equipment stored there, and the fences to adjoining properties need repair. There is an abandoned church next door. I wish the owner had communicated more effectively with us regarding a worker who just showed up one day and started doing work in the back... Kind of weird when you hear sounds coming from the back of the house and you see a man with a shovel outside the window. The garbage cans out front were overflowing with garbage from the last visitors. Also, there is no way to unlock the house from the inside without a key. This is a safety hazard and should be addressed soon. The majority of the art that is for sale in the house seems to be from the host, as opposed to artists who live in the community... Not a negative per se, but the description in the listing (about supporting artists in the community) seems misleading. For the price that we paid, my family expected more.

Great place to stay if you want to stay close to Sacramento Downtown and other local places. It's located in a quite neighborhood. Very clean and well maintained. Nicely remodeled bathrooms, beds are comfy, clean bedsheets and enough blankets, towels. Kitchen is loaded with all necessary utensils, coffee etc. Michael is very quick in responding our queries and he was checking with us often to confirm everything is good. I feel once the pool is built in the backyard, it will be a great add on to this house. The art works by local artists were impressive too!! Would love to come back in future.

This house was clean and had beds and bedrooms for 5 adults and 2 kids. The bedroom with two beds worked perfectly for my daughter and her family. The house was not luxurious, but it WAS a great value and had everything we needed! Michael was excellent in responding to questions. We enjoyed Netflix on a few occasions and the beds were comfy. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this property or another one from Michael Crockett on any future visit to Sacramento!
