Love this hotel! Everything about it was lovely. The staff were very friendly, the room was modern, cozy and the rooftop bar views were amazing! They offer a free buffet breakfast which has so many different options available. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in Chicago!

Amazing place and very comfortable, clean, and the staff i. The lobby are very helpful.

Oh my...
The good - staff is super friendly. Check-in and checkout went smoothly. Excellent bath towels. Very good location.
The bad - Not on par with any other 4-star hotel I've stayed at (it's far below).
Room feels cheap: thin blanket, thin pillows (both not pampering and pleasant to sink into). Headboard made of something that feels like linoleum. Weak water pressure. No vanity kit, kettle, or a proper coffee machine (there is a flimsy plastic decide that phill drop hot water very very very slowly. Breakfast was so bad that we decided to skip in the following days.

Somehow, they learned it was my birthday. I was presented with a slice of cake at breakfast, and later a box of chocolates was delivered to my room. The staff was so sweet, and even the next day, asked how my day had gone.
4.6
The hotel is beautiful however the hot water was out my first day and nobody told us. My friend had to take a cold shower which she got sick from and I'm not sure anybody cared
4.6
It was an excellent stay. Rooms were clean and the hotel staff was very attentive. Excellent location. Would definitely stay here again when in Chicago
4.6
The iron and ironing board were not up to standard for a new state of the art hotel, outside of that minor quip, everything else was beyond exceptional.
4.6
We loved our stay, great accommodations and location. The breakfast buffet was much more than we expected.
4.6
Everything was great, except the poor quality toilet paper
4.6
Great stay at newly built hotel with perfect location by the “Magnificent mile”. Friendly staff.
4.6
New hotel to downtown Chicago at a great price. They have a rooftop bar and a hotel bar on the 1st floor. I think both were opem until 11p. The complimentary buffet breakfast was amazing! Only valet parking avaliable for $65. I will stay here again.
4.6
The hotel is in a great area, very clean and recently renovated. Breakfast buffet is the best we've ever had-Lots of choices. Fun rooftop restaurant/bar.
4.6
New hotel super clean, great customer service but the shower water was warm and the pressure was low. I will definitely stay here each time I’m in Chicago!

Average , needs fine tuning of operations.

I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The location is perfect—close to major attractions and with easy access to public transportation. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any request. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that catered to all tastes. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!
4.6
The hotel is modern and clean. The staff was friendly. The only negative for me was not having a microwave in the room or anywhere that I could use to warm up my food.
4.6
The stay was very good. Everything is surprisingly clean. Rooftop provides a good option for food and entertainment.
4.6
Very comfortable spot off of Magnificent Mile. Great spot for a weekend get away right in the heart of the city.
4.6
Amazing hotel. Super clean. Friendly staff and exquisite rooftop terrace and 5 star breakfast!

Loved the location of the hotel and the room! Check in was fast and easy. The desk staff was delightful and witty! We loved her! The room was state of the art...a real European vibe! Breakfast was absolutely amazing! So many options, and extremely high quality.
Rooftop bar was the only turn off. After a wonderful day experiencing Chicago, my husband went up to the bar just to check out the view. He wasn't going to stay for drinks--just wanted to get a sense of the vibe, as we planned to return later that evening. He was not warmly greeted. He was asked if he was a hotel guest, and he was eyed from head to toe, made to feel uncomfortable and judged. We were going to freshen up and enjoy the rooftop bar later in the evening, but he did not feel like he was the preferred clientele. We dressed up nicely and went elsewhere and had a marvelous time!
4.6
Amazing stay. Will absolutely stay again.
4.6
The location great, the rooms are good but nothing special, the breakfast is kind of a cantina, I believe the hotel is a 4 star hotel, but honestly I felt more like a 3 star hotel.
But overall I did what I wanted it to do.
4.6
Amazing. Staff also was extremely kind and friendly. Loved the view from my room and the cleanliness overall. Breakfast buffet was also really nice.
4.6
Lovely stay! Everything was wonderful.
4.6
Slow check in process and the trainees at the front desk weren’t very friendly- the lobby, roof bar and the room are great.
4.6
Beautiful new hotel at great location for sight seeing, eating in heart of Michigan avenue. Great breakfast buffet. New, clean, comfortable. Highly recommend
4.6
Amazing location. Wonderful free breakfast buffet. Spacious room with nice amenities. Woukd definitely recommend.

While everything was new the shower, TV and even the ironing board was a pain. I also was eaten up by something all over my legs the minute I got into the room. I didn’t see bed bugs but something got both legs in that room. The bartender was so nice and friendly. He had only been there a few days but his boss was a very rude lady, both at the bar and at the roof top. I wouldn’t stay again

Excellent Place in the heart of Chicago

The RIU in Chicago was perfect. Great location, beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was incredible and was a perfect start of everyday with a variety of deliciousness. The rooftop bar was another highlight of our stay, great atmosphere and views of the city.
4.6
Excellent place! Clean and comfy room. Near walking distance to lots of good places. We’ll come back to stay here again!

I stayed three days and two nights for a recent business trip. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and there were many options at the breakfast buffet. The location has many restaurants within walking distance, shops, a very large coffee shop nearby, and a small bookstore a block away. The four elevators were fast, and I didn't have to wait long at any time. Local parking is expensive but not unexpected for a large city. I would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here on a recent trip to Chicago. We loved the location because it was close to Michigan Ave, but not right on the busy street. It was also relatively close to the river and some of our favorite restaurants. Additionally, the bathroom was really nice and it was useful to have two sinks. The view from our room was fantastic and overall the room, hallway, and common areas looked nice.
Now onto some less desirable aspects of the hotel…Housekeeping takes forever, possibly because they’re understaffed or lacking in support. Every day after check-in time, there were several groups of people waiting for their rooms in the lobby. One day we left our room at 9:45 am, with a sign on the door saying the room was ready to be cleaned, and when we came back at 4:30 pm it still hadn’t been tidied. Additionally, the pillows were extremely uncomfortable, much lower quality than what I’d expect at a four star hotel, and we were only given one per person, which was not enough for my husband or me. We asked for two more but we’re only given one more, possibly due to a language barrier (some of the staff didn’t speak English). Also, the drain in our shower wasn’t draining and we called to have it fixed, but nothing was ever done about it. Lastly, the breakfast had a lot of variety, which is great, but sometimes the food wasn’t cooked properly. They definitely served partially raw sausage one day and oatmeal that had way too much water in it to be classified as oatmeal.

Very nice, well located hotel. Excellent breakfast was included with the room

Just back from an overnighter there Oct 3-4. Place was great (CAN'T beat location) EXCEPT for...
1) Was not tv remote control in our room on arrival. Spent an extremely frustrating hour or trying to "hook up" to my phone before tech guy said all we needed was remote. OMG, duh,
2) Luke warm shower. Thought was an economy thing (shower had a sign saying 100 farenheit), but found out at check out was a "boiler problem" that was "fixed" now.
3) AWESOME breakfast though!!!!

Was in town for Rams football game. Great location right of Michigan Ave. Within walking distance of plenty restaurants and shopping. Rooftop bar was very nice. Staff was friendly. Rooms were super clean and modern. Will stay here again.
4.6
Just as expected from Riu. Great hotel. Quiet rooms. Very clean. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Only issue was the water pressure while taking a shower. Apart from that 5/5. Would recommend.
4.6
I had a bad experience because I found a bee that I almost swallowed in a drink on the roof top. A manager told me they have bee problems. The manager at reception simply gave me a sheet of paper on which he wrote an email and asked me to make my complaint. No follow up and when I went back to reception he wouldn't talk to us. I've never seen such bad service. I will not recommend Riu Chicago for this bad service.

We stayed at the Riu Chicago on September 21 then again on September 26th. We got into Chicago early and was just hoping to check our luggage so we could go and explore Chicago. The lady at the front desk said why don't we just check you in!! Bonus 11:30 AM I was able to do a quick change and enjoy the beautiful weather. I had booked 3 rooms and they accommodated all three of us!! **The ONLY thing you need to know when travelling with a group is request if possible to stay on the same floor if visiting is important to you. Your key card is only good for your floor. My group had rooms on floor 5, 19, 24.. It was a bit of a logistical nightmare to all get together in the same room. All three groups would go to the Lobby floor then all get into the elevator to the desired floor. Included Breakfast is HUGE go hungry. Staff and facility are amazing, good size rooms close to Michigan Ave, lots of great restaurants nearby.

A modern hotel, steel and glass, airy, terrifically responsive staff, and a breakfast that wil knock your socks off. Great for all ages.
