About this apartment rental

NEW FOR 2024 - Millicent Cottage is a superbly renovated cottage with a paved garden - ideal for children approximately 15 minutes’ walk from both Aldeburgh High Street and the sea front.
Interiors are stylish, warm and cosy with an efficient wood burning stove, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms with zip and link beds, a shower room and luxurious bathroom. Ideal for a family holiday or two couples to enjoy a seaside retreat.

Millicent Cottage (named after the Aldeburgh born political activist and writer Millicent Fawcett) is located at 28 Leiston Road, close enough to town and the beach to walk, with roadside parking generally available in front of the cottage.
The owners have tried to make every feature of the cottage as modern and convenient as possible, whilst retaining its character. The kitchen is fully equipped with high quality appliances and leads out to a large patio and paved garden area, with ample seating and a large barbecue, perfect for outdoor dining and for your dog, or children, to play in safety.

DETAILS
GROUND FLOOR
You’re welcomed into the split-level open plan living/dining room with stairs climbing to the first floor. A small port opening into the living space, furnished with a comfy sofa and chairs, a coffee table and the wood burner. Shelves on either side of the chimney breast are stacked with books as well as the TV for your entertainment. In the lower half of the room, you’ll find a circular table with chairs for catering at home (or a sneaky take-away!) and a desk with a chair for guests needing to study or work from home.

KITCHEN
A door and step down take you into the modern kitchen with double doors opening to the garden for indoor/outdoor living.
Units run along one wall housing an electric oven with four ring gas hob, a large fridge/freezer (4 shelves, a bottle rack and 2 veg drawers in the fridge; 3 drawers in the freezer), a dishwasher, a Bosch washer/dryer, and freestanding microwave, Nespresso machine (please bring your own pods), milk frother, kettle and toaster.

SHOWER ROOM
Conveniently at the back of the house so you can sneak in with sandy feet and swimming gear. This compact shower room has a step up to the cubicle with a handheld shower with adjustable rail, quaint wash basin and vanity unit, a WC, heated towel rail (towels are provided for all guests) and natural light.

FIRST FLOOR
Typical of a period cottage, relatively steep carpeted stairs, with handrail to steady you, rise and turn to the first floor where doors open to both bedrooms.

FRONT BEDROOM
Step up to this attractive which is furnished with a king sized zip and link bed (made into a double unless requested as twin at booking), bedside tables, bedside wardrobes with hanging and shelving, and a gorgeous button back armchair.

BACK BEDROOM AND EN-SUITE BATHROOM
Sitting quietly at the back of the cottage, this room also has a king size zip and link (also made into double unless requested as twin), with bedside tables. Steps down to the dressing area which has place to store your clothes and the door to the en-suite.
BATHROOM
A luxurious room fitted with a deep oval bath, a shower cubicle with both handheld and rain shower heads, a wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and natural light.

OUTSIDE
There are a couple of narrow steps from the pavement down to a small gravelled front garden where you can enjoy morning sun with your coffee, and a wonderful courtyard style garden at the back which catches the afternoon sun. You’re sure to enjoy long evenings socialising outside using the Bushbeck barbecue fireplace, summer house and outdoor furniture.
A path runs between the back door and the garden, giving access for you to wheel bikes into the garden, and for neighbours to use for access (rarely!),
There are not just very good shops a few moments away, but all the attractions of Aldeburgh town centre are a 15 min walk away, no need to drive in and worrying about where to park. Alternatively, a walk down Church Farm Road leads you in just over 10 mins to the beach and the cycle path to Thorpeness, a 30 min walk away.

There's just enough space in either bedroom to fit the travel cot.

No smoking/vaping in the property
Only one small dog allowed and not on furniture or upstairs please.
