Nice hosts and great breakfast

Nice hosts — asked us what we wanted for breakfast; recommended a few restaurants; and wrapped a couple of croissants for us which we were unable to eat at breakfast. Location was pretty good — close to the old town. In order to get to the beach, one walks through the old town and then takes the stairs down to the water. The hostess brought a plentiful breakfast to the balcony of our room. checkin and checkout were smooth. Parking is available on property.

We booked the room as we were arriving in Tropea, so only the garden view room was available. If we return to Tropea, I would only book the ocean view room. the room was clean with a comfortable bed and it also had a nice shower, large closet, and good towels however, it was pretty small. there was no place to work on our laptop, so we had to do so from bed. The fridge was filled with beer, wine, sodas, and water which were available for purchase at a reasonable price. Instructions asked that no personal items be placed in the refrigerator. I would have preferred a free bottle of water and space in the fridge for our own personal use. There also did not appear to be an area where one could just hang out, but that didn’t bother us.

Beautiful view

The host will make plenty of extra to make your stay enjoyable. We had wonderful view from terrace where we got served excellent breakfast. The apartment has been cleaned daily. Very comfy beds. Close to the center.

We could hear the neighbours, and anyone on the corridor. Very little space to fit the clothes, only one small wardrobe. But these are just a tiny negatives on overall great experience.

Highly recommended for your stay in amazing Tropea, we´ll be back for sure!

Signora Rosella and her family are excellent hosts, we felt at home in Villa il Barone. Spacious, extremly clean rooms and bathroom. Rich breakfast served on the covered terrace with a beautiful city/sea view. Every morning we got a homemade cake for breakfast (I regret that I did not ask for the recipe for the nociola cake :( ). Quiet area, still close to historic city centre and amazing beach (cca 7 min walk).

Large room and bathroom with covered terrace. Good storage areas for luggage and personal items& good parking. Fast and strong wifi. Great breakfast and excellent, charming host.

The property is a short walk into town, but the road is narrow with no shoulder.

Great place to stay in Tropea with blend of authenticity and modern conveniences.

Lots to like about Villa Barone. Great location with short walk to the center of town. We had covered porch with a view of the sea and part of the town. The breakfast was outstanding with eggs, fresh fruit, beverages and pastries, served on our balcony at the time we requested. Everything worked well (including the AC) and was very clean. Rosella went out of her way to make sure everything was to our liking. Although we didn’t speak Italian, we had fun engaging with Rosella and we really enjoyed her personal touch. Highly recommend it for short or long stays.

Delighful B&B in a beautiful resort with very kind owners.

Pretty B&B in a beautiful coastal town. Our room was immaculate and had a large terrace looking across to the historic centre of Tropea. The owner Rosella was a delightful lady and went out of her way to help us. she served us a huge breakfast on our balcony - scrambled eggs, ham and tomatoes, croissants, homemade cake and cappuccino. The B&B is a 10 minute walk to town and the nearest beach. If I could give this property 6 stars I would!

Perfect, will come back!

Breakfast was super! Homemade cakes were very delicious and everyday day different. Apartment is very close to the historical city center (5min), though no sounds from the city. You can reach beautiful beaches by foot in 15min. Host are willing to help in every situation! (Even at night)

Fantastisch!

We had a perfect stay at Villa il Barone! The villa and garden are beautiful and lovingly maintained. The location is perfect - just around the corner of the beautiful historic center in a calm street. The room was modern and perfectly clean - with a spacious private terrace with a stunning view on the sea and the old town. The diverse and rich breakfast was served on the private terracce - with variations and lovingly selected specials every morning - just delicious! But especially to mention the hosts - Rossalla and Roberto - who are very attentive, incredibly sympathetic, always in a good mood with a smile, recommendations and help. We had a perfect week, wish we could have stayed longer and hope to be back! :)

Great rooms, beautiful balcony with view and Stella was so sweet and kind! We loved breakfast delivered to our room on the balcony and was really close walk to the center! Highly recommended!

Wonderful hosts, great value, good location

Rosella and Roberto were very kind, amazing hosts who went out of their way before and during our stay to help us out. The house and guest-rooms are clean. Breakfast is served daily on your private terrace, and they do their own (excellent) baking. If you don't request eggs, then breakfast can be a little carb-rich. Some people love that; others don't. The house is 500m from the center of town, a short walk and nice way to stay in a quiet, residential area, but the walk is on a road with no shoulder that makes a hairpin-turn around a ravine. We were fine with it, but some people may not be comfortable walking that. Visitors should be aware that in this part of Italy, there are few English-speakers. I find that a positive, though we found some English-speakers had a tough time in restaurants and other venues. Villa il Barone was a fantastic value for the money.

A smaller but more balanced breakfast would have been better. The homemade baked goods were excellent, but the store-bought ones could have been higher quality but smaller quantity. The front yard could have made a stronger first-impression (though the rest of the house was fine). Cleaning person placed our toiletry bags in the (completely dry and unused) bidet while cleaning the shelf in the bathroom and forgot to put them back, so we found them there. It may be worth requesting not to move personal items when cleaning the bathroom. Minor thing, and she was obviously cleaning every surface, but still slightly off-putting. Even with these slight negatives, we would certainly consider going back.
