They had cameras I paid a $50 deposit which I got right back in cash when I left so thats kind of co
The guy on the night shift was very suspect. And there was people walking around looking suspect. And I think they gave somebody my room key as well which I did not like and the guy called my phone who work at the front desk on a block call. And I think that they shouldn't even have a $50 deposit at that cheap hotel.
That the had cameras.

Bad
Leaving right away
The night manager was the most obnoxious, aggressive, unfriendly and unprofessional representative that I have encountered after decades of travel l. He seemed to boast that he had over 5 arguments with normal customers with families that very evening. He stated that he preferred the normal junkies that just come to fix instead of the demanding tourists. Just avoid the location, there was much unsavory activity occurring in the immediate vicinity. However, the night person was sufficient enough of a deterrent that I left after my 6 minute encounter

Never ever going back.
Close to the venue for our concert we attended.
The lock to the room hadn't worked in days! We were told they wouldn't give us a discount for it either. We had to call the front desk to come manually unlock the door to get back in the room each time we walked out. As smokers, we had to walk over to a designated smoking area each time, so propping the door open was our only option. In a motel on Van Buren, this was horrifying. We were sure we would get robbed at some point. We had nowhere to park because we had a trailer attached to our truck, so we had to take up multiple spaces sideways and got blocked in. The room was filthy- nothing was wiped down, floors were sticky, mold in restroom. Walked to the restroom in socks and the socks were black. There was a drug addict next to us that was up all night, hollering and pacing around our truck. Management told him to go back inside a couple times but never made him leave. We knew we didn't get a 5-star place, but for literally the same price as the ritzier places on the same block, I was expecting so much better.
