Location, friendliness of staff.
The room could be a little cold in the mornings

It’s very centrally located. I throughly enjoyed that, close parking for the day. The grounds and hotel are nice, for an old hotel.
There was no ac, so we had to have the windows open at night, very busy street and garbage trucks. You can tell people enjoyed the nightlife, because you heard them leave the bars.
The shower and bathroom was decent. However the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were about as cheap as they came. The dispensers had seen better days and you got minimal product for the pumps you were pressing on. Looked watered down and nothing lathered and I felt worse than I did before I took the shower. Had to go to Walgreens and purchase other toiletries and retake my shower.
It was not worth the $800+ I paid to stay 3 nights.

Good location, old building with lots of potential, wine bar and restaurants next door.
Really worn down building. Old facilities. We had windows facing the street and Saturday night you can hear all the party people in action due to the old windows that don’t dampen sound at all😅

Had spent many nights in past years …..such good memories!
Location, staff and continental breakfast….now?
Lack of continental brex, tattered window coverings, no AC……didn’t get the message we had to ask for room to be made up!

An old hotel located downtown which was good for us as we planned to attend a concert at the Golden State Theatre just across the street.

Historic ambience and location.

Location of Hotel, room was lovely, staff was exceptional.
Iron in room.

Location
Front desk ppl not that great. Noise level is very high makes it hard to sleep. Room not ready at 4:30 pm and very small space. Shower leaks on floor. Lamp old and broken. Frig smelled. Carpet dirty.
3.6
Location is great, just in the center. The historical building with nice furniture.
Internet was too bad, we were on a business trip and had to take calls and connectivity was really bad. Lack of facilities for 2 persons to take calls (only one chair). The room was pretty small. No parking. No fridge.

Location. walk to restaurants, trails and events. It was very clean. The bathroom is very large. The bed is very comfortable. And it is dog friendly.
No parking on site. No voucher for parkade parking.

A great location, handy local parking, slap bang in the town centre. Friendly staff and slick check in and check out. Free coffee, fruit and snacks at breakfast was convenient. Great coffee shop next door though too.
It is a little noisier due to its location and it being old. It has no zircon because it's a listed building, but it remains cool inside being old. No room make up service - still. so long after the crux of COVID feels not right, so the room was never serviced in my four night stay - time to at least give guests the option, link the other hotels in town are doing.

Location was good the ghost in our room was a bonus we didn't expect but cool none the less the spirit made noise in our room in the middle of the and felt it touch me while I was sleeping in room 216.
The 100 yr old building had high ceilings but very noisy
The single pane windows allowed outside noise inside
The elevator didn't work practically needed a map to get around
Only 1 couple at a time allowed in the hot tub and we were not that couple

The location is perfect,, right in amongst it all. The staff were so helpful and polite, they are an asset to the hotel. Rooms were large and comfortable and the fireplace was a real bonus.
We had to wait for another party to finish using the jacuzzi as only one at a time allowed and so we missed out on that facility.
3.6
Good location and prise. Everything you needed is available, even coffee.
Hotel is “pet friendly”, but no one predicted us about extra price for pets… they just took money after we left((
And when my dog unfortunately peed on the floor in the lobby, they gave me the tissue and said clean it by myself. it’s not difficult for me, but for me it’s not a good service in pet friendly hotel(

Breakfast was only fruit and coffee. Wish there were more selections

in walking distance to cannery row, fisherman wharf, elegantly dinning all close by.

There was a table in the lobby at breakfast time that provided tasty apples and granola bars and coffee/tea.
Online it said there was a sofa bed and that wasn’t true so we had to squeeze together on the beds, which made it uncomfortable. There was a power outage in Monterey when we went, which is beyond their control but we were basically told “we can’t guarantee anything” on the internet, elevator, room utilities, and that was not reassuring/ it was unnerving. Finally, it’s an historic hotel, so this is totally my fault, but I didn’t expect to feel as uneasy as I did the first night. We were in the renovated side (barely- right next to old side ); it was a nice view that overlooked the courtyard. I wish the furniture was updated . The toilet had been wiped so many times with cleaner that the paint thinned and the shower handle could be labeled with Hot and Cold to assist using it. They did provide makeup remover wipes and the basic stuff you might need.
3.6
It was very central in Monterey.
The cleanliness was beyond poor - i found hair in the sink, the carpets was really old, and the bed had bedding between two sheets so I assume they are not cleaning those. It was a shower curtain which was old and dirty and I didn't want to touch it. It was overall a very old and not well maintained hotel.

Great location
No desk/workspace. Shower broke and needed to be repaired.

Centrally located in the center of Monterey ,cafes , TJs also the historic Golden theater. which presents various musicians/comedians etc.A short walk to the bay, bike path and brew pubs. The bed was comfortable .We were in the "older" part we liked the stained glass windows and wooden shutters. We appreciated the history and charm of the hotel though it is a little worn. There is a coffee/tea machine in the room also coffee downstairs in the morning with granola bars as a courtesy.
Our room was pretty small ,no fridge .The booking site said"Hot tub/spa" but that was out of order which was disappointing. It was only on asking that I was told.

Nice hotel close to restaurants, wine tasting rooms and the Fisherman Wharf. No on-site parking lot but there were two parking structures within 1 block of the hotel. The hotel is a bit old, but it was nice and clean.
Only issue is no AC, but that was made clear beforehand. Our room did have a standing fan, and that helped a lot!
