About this apartment rental
The historic Bird Center Resort is located just blocks from downtown Saugatuck. Remodeled in 2004 this property has been entertaining guests for over 100 years. Unit has every amenity needed to provide wonderful memories. The Hummingbird has a bedroom and living room upstairs, kitchen and bath downstairs. This cozy 1-bedroom cottage is a charming place to get away and feel secluded while still staying close to town. The ceilings in the living room and bedroom are about 6'6". WiFi access available in your cottage, as well as 2 flat-screen TVs. This cottage does share a wall with the Nightingale Cottage that is the front part of the house. Nothing else shared just wall. Just a 5 minute drive to the beach, and a 3-block walk to downtown Saugatuck where you'll find shopping, restaurants, art galleries, and more!
By renting this cottage you are agreeing to the following rules:
(RULES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED)
1.) All of our rentals are non-smoking.
2.) You and your guests are using our home at your own risk. We nor the owner of the property will be held responsible for any injuries that occur at the vacation rental or for any lost or stolen items.
3.) No boats or trailers are to be parked at our rental properties. Tents of any kind are not allowed.
Arrangements for trailers need to be made. There is a parking lot for the cottage.
4.) Do not move the furniture.
5.) Each cottage has a maximum number of guests that is listed on this contract you must verify that it is correct. That number is not to be exceeded - this includes children and adults. For fire safety, we are required to limit the number in each home. If additional people are found to be staying at the cottage the entire group will be asked to vacate with no refund. Inflatable mattresses or alternative sleeping other than pack n plays or cribs are not allowed. Tents are also not allowed on the property.
6.) Pets are not permitted. If a pet is on the property then there will be a $1500 fee and it will be required that the owner board the pet immediately.
7.) Damages are to be reported during your stay. If we find damage after you vacate, you authorize the charge to your credit card for replacement or repair or provide another credit card number, pay by cash or check. Damages reported upon arrival will not be guests' responsibility.
8.) Cleaners will come to the cottage after you have departed - they will not visit to clean, change linens, or replace towels during your stay. Please contact the office should you need assistance during your stay regarding any cleaning items.
9.) Grills are to be cleaned after each use.
10.) Quiet time is after 10pm nightly. We do not tolerate loud groups and college like parties anytime of the day or night. This cottage does share a wall with another Cottage so noise levels must be kept down.
11.) You are at least 25 years old and will be able to verify with valid identification during your stay if needed.
12.) Weddings and formal events are NOT permitted on our properties, if there is found to be a formal event on the property the entire group will be asked to vacate the property with a no refund. It is acceptable to have a visitors during the day hours but that number can not be more than double the maximum occupancy of the cottage.

If any rules are not followed all local fines, security deposits and any other charges will be charged to guest and the entire group will be asked to vacate the property. We love the location and the layout of this property. We wish we were granted access to the hot tub and that there was a full length mirror or "getting ready" area upstairs, as having two females in the house can be lengthy get ready process. Otherwise, we love the house and will stay again. This was our second stay here.

We really liked the location of this rental, and found it to be clean and comfortable and the use of the space was quite creative. There are lots of things to do in and around Saugatuck. The rule book told us that we needed to be considerate and quiet due to neighbors but our neighbors did not follow these rules. The walls were thin and it was unpleasant to feel like they were in our space, particularly when they were repeatedly farting. Also, we were told to park on one side of the building, but there were no available spaces.
Nonetheless, the bed was quite comfortable. We might stay here again because we liked being able to walk into town, but the noise was not appealing.

This was the perfect little cottage for a weekend getaway to one of my favorite towns. Loved that it was such a short walk to the downtown area to visit all the great shops and get some good food. The cottage was so clean, comfy and welcoming. The kitchen was set up quite well for cooking - everything you’d need was there. I will definitely hope to stay here again!

Hummingbird is a very cute little cabin. Easy to walk to downtown from where it’s located, and the property itself was clean and tidy. The check-in process was extremely automated and painless with lots of communication delivered ahead of our stay.

Quaint little cottage within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Would consider a return. Somewhat disappointed that listing showed hot tub as an amenity but was not the case according to paperwork on arrival.

The Hummingbird is a nice size for a couple--compact but not too cramped. The place is nicely maintained, with all essential amenities and appointments, and easy walking distance from downtown Saugatuk. It does share a wall with a neighboring cottage, so people staying there can be heard. But the only thing we would suggest improvements-wise would be to put a proper door between the bedroom and living room area upstairs. Otherwise, a charming little place. Thanks!

Perfect location. We were able to either ride her bikes or walk downtown Saugatuck every day which is wonderful since parking is such a challenge there. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable. We had a lovely stay.

Great location, cute spot. Be aware low ceilings! We had a great time. Few blocks from the downtown area. Get the truffle tots from the BARge and the brussel sprouts from Bowdies and ice cream from Charlie’s.

We had a great stay at the Hummingbird! It’s a very short walk to downtown Saugatuck. It was clean, comfortable, and perfect for a short weekend stay. I would highly recommend!

This cottage is indeed quaint. Small but nicely laid out with everything you need for a weekend or weeklong visit. It is nicely remodeled and decorated. It is perfect for a couple to get away and explore all Sagatuck has to offer. Walking distance to everything downtown. Short drive to the state park, dune ride, Douglas, and oval beach.

We loved staying at the Hummingbird cottage. It was so quaint, cozy and clean. We were able to walk to town everyday to enjoy delicious, waterfront meals, everyday! The bed was comfy and the cottage was newly furnished and very clean. The only down side, which didn’t bother us, was the bathroom is downstairs. We highly recommend staying there and look forward to our next visit!

Impeccably clean, well-equipped, nice grill, two TV's with Roku. We had a lovely stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. Enjoyed being within walking distance of town. Had great meal at Coast 236. There are plenty of options nearby. Short drive to highly rated Oval Beach and many other sites. I would highly recommend this host and cottage. Thank you, Ethan for the home away from home.

The whole process was easy. I received several emails leading up to our stay on what was expected, code to get in, and things to do in the area. We arrived late and had no problem getting in. Super clean and very cozy. Location was perfect. Walking distance to downtown. Would definitely rent again.

76 to 70 and you could barely feel any cool air from the vents, especially upstairs in the bedroom. I contacted management and they said that it takes awhile to catch up. We planned on having a glass of wine before we ventured downtown but it was so hot we couldn’t hang around. We also really missed having a porch or deck to enjoy a glass of wine or morning coffee. There was an area on the other side of the unit, a little fenced area on concrete pad, just not very inviting. Not enough windows/light for us to stay again.

Great Stay Close To Downtown
We had such a great time on our trip. The place was cozy and very clean. It is a small space (which we knew when booking, we don't need anything big), but it met ALL of our needs that we were looking for. We made multiple walks into town because of how close the walk was which we really enjoyed! It was nice being able to walk and not drive every time we just wanted to stroll into town for food or an ice cream. There are 2 other houses on the property all very close, but it was not a bother at all! This house is split so there was other people staying in the same house, but they were completely private of each other. Every so often you could hear voices faintly, but it was not disrupting in any way. If we go back again this will be the first place we will look to book. A clean place and comfortable bed are the 2 things I need when traveling and this met both needs!

The place is exactly as described. The use of space is great. It is not a big place but everything has plenty of space. The bathroom and kitchen are well thought out. The upstairs is a great place to relax. The location is ideal. It is just a few minute walk to downtown and all town has to offer.
