Overall the property was great. The private pool and hot tub with lots of shade. No need to be heated during the warmer months. It’s in a quiet part of town but the walls are very thin and you can hear every word of the neighbors next to you.

Super cute place! Our room was decorated in vintage style and it was fun browsing through the books and vintage items in all the rooms - including dishes! It was very quiet (we stayed 2 weeknights) and the neighbors were courteous. We hike and adventure all day long, so we appreciated the quiet. The small 5-plex building sits atop a small hill and our room (#4) had a view over Desert Hot Springs and the pool/hot tub area. It's near the Mission Creek, Pioneertown and Whitewater Creek Preserve areas, which is why we chose this location. It was easy to shoot up to Hwy 62 to the preserves to go hiking. All the usual amenities made The Getaway comfortable. It is a bit off the beaten path and not really within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and shops, which was fine for us. Thanks to our host, Eric who made sure we had everything we needed!

Everything as described online. Perfect place to relax after traversing the Palm Springs area.

I really liked they funkiness of suite, got to meet owner of this small 4 suite intimate setting and he explained he had been collecting older stuff from the 60’s and had used his collection to give it the vibe it has. The place is nice to come home too after a day of adventure and getting to meet the owner who happened to be on-site was a bonus. Great guy and very kind. If your looking for something quiet and yet close to everything it’s great. We came from Canada so had to consider exchange rates and we thought this place checked all the boxes. Thanks Eric, hope to come back

What a very. very pretty and relaxing space.

Super cute spot with a hot tub and pool! (fee for heating but my 10 year old still went in without the heater) We were the only ones here and it was very quiet and peaceful! We loved checking out all the vintage decor, knickknacks, and even kitchen appliances and dishes from "back in the day"! Eric is a very gracious and friendly host!

Clean, simple, practical place. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Eric was quick to communicate and easy to work with. We enjoyed our stay.

Everything was great about our stay except for the cold pool and hot tub. Heater needs to be replaced by ownership. It forced us to use nearby day passes at Tuscan Springs and Miradle Spring Resorts luckily nearby. You might want to have every unit share in the cost of heated pool and hot tub up front. Otherwise alternatives may be more appealing nearby that we experienced.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Getaway (1 bedroom + sofa in living room). It's in a great location between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. My favorite moments: morning coffee / evening drinks out on the patio gazing at the gorgeous mountains. Also, try Las Delicias restaurant nearby for very tasty Mexican food.

We had a great stay. Eric is a great host and responsive. The property was as described. Great place if you want to go to Joshua Tree which is only a 25 minute drive away. Will comeback again.

I stayed at The Getaway for eight days; it was so cozy for both me and my pup. The unit was decked out with thoughtful and quirky mid-century touches throughout — I was always noticing something new. I appreciated that there was a well-stocked kitchen, lots of towels, extra bedding, books galore and an eclectic record collection. I worked remotely from the unit during the second half of my stay, and the wifi was strong and reliable for all of my Zoom calls (both inside and outside). The pool and pool area were clean and well-kept. Someone came by to clean the pool at least twice while I was there. The outside space has places for lounging and dining al fresco, and I took full advantage. There's also a great view of the mountains, which made for lovely sunsets and even a couple of desert thunderstorms. One of the best parts was the location. It's super close to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, which allowed me and my pup to do all of the exploring we had hoped to do. Two tiny things worth mentioning: The Getaway and surrounding area were very quiet for the majority of my stay. There were some moments when I could hear my neighbors through the walls. The A/C is a little startling, especially in the middle of the night(!), so that took some getting used to. Eric was a kind and gracious host and easy to communicate with. I even got to meet him when he stopped by the complex. The Getaway really was the relaxing getaway that I needed, and I hope to stay again the next time I'm in the desert!

Tidy, serene, and drama free: once you cross into the courtyard from the parking area, it's like visiting mid-century Americana. The in-ground hot tub, short pool, and palms are flanked on two sides by 6 period-specific apartments (I stayed in a one bedroom with a full kitchen, complete with throwback dishware and Chips-n-Dip bowl sets in the muted colors of the early '60's). All the things that need to be fresh and new were: sheets, pillows, and mattress were crisp and comfortable. The colors, furniture, art, and decor feel like a well-propped film set, ready to record. Desert Hot Springs is no party town (and not many food options in the current pandemic), so it was easy to tuck in and do my work during the day followed by reading or watching TV at night, all with desert trails nearby for a close up view of jackrabbits and road runners. Thank, Eric, it was a good stay!

Pleasant stay in a clean place. Took a while for the jacuzzi to heat up but was enjoyable relaxing after a long hike

We loved the vintage decor and vibe of the place. It was impeccably clean and really fun. Both the south and west entrances of Joshua Tree National Park are within an hour drive. We got excellent Mexican food and were able to grocery shop conveniently. Parking is easy. The outdoor patio and pool area is clean and comfortable with a lovely view. We recommend it, especially if you like vintage fun!

I come to California to visit family in Morongo Valley...This place was great location and very clean. Retro style fun!!!

Stayed there 3 weeks as being in between places and we loved the authentic mid-century vibes of the property.

This is a small and simple complex. Clean and quiet. A perfect little Getaway.

The apartment we stayed in (#4) was tidy and well appointment with lots of fun vintage "stuff". Eric was fantastic and prompt on his replies when we had questions both prior to and during our stay. The Desert Hot Springs community wasn't what we had expected, but that was on us as we failed to do the research as our intent was to spend our time in the southern communities and Joshua Tree. Unfortunately the walls are thin and access to the washer and dryer room wasn't working and since we weren't comfortable using the local laundromat (our stay was during the initial phase of the heavy COVID-19 warnings to stay clear of public areas) we had to resort to washing our running clothes in the sink. That all being said, we recommend the Getaway apartments if the area suits your needs. Enjoy your stay!

We spent a week in unit 4 and loved it, wished we could stay longer. Eric has everything you could possibly need available in the suite. The character and charm of the getaway will bring us back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend.

Traveling through Palm Springs and wanting to explore Joshua Tree NP, we chose this amazing desert getaway and enjoyed our stay. It’s convenient to Palm Springs and JT. The neighborhood is a little dicey, but the Getaway is a tranquil oasis. The rooms are spacious and as Eric’s photos show, everything (except the HD flatscreen tv) is out of the 50’s. Check-in was easy and the kitchen well-equipped. Even a coffee grinder and French press. Lots of towels and blankets. And a record player and collection of 50’s records! All our fellow guests were nice and kept quiet. We would definitely come back if we were in the area again.

Had a great stay in January. The property has a beautiful view of Palm Springs and the snow capped mountains. The room was clean, spacious, well decorated, comfortable, quiet, and had all the basics for cooking. My wife and I chose this property due to it’s close proximity to hiking in Joshua Tree, to the Spas (a great one was practically across the street), and Downtown Palm Springs.

This is a very cute and quaint place. Provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Quiet place to get away

The Getaway is the perfect place to stay in the desert for the weekend. It is perfectly clean and beautifully furnished with all the amenities needed for a multiple-day stay. I would highly recommended The Getaway to anyone coming to the desert! Definitely will be back!
