I really liked the stay here, it was really convenient to get around town while we were staying temporarily here while work was being done on our place. Its a nice place, the owner is really responsive to issues, and it is very well located to either public transportation or access to highways to get out and about. We really enjoyed the stay.

Cozy little cottage but needs repair.

"REMODELED" ??? - well it isn't the same as when built in 1920 ... so okay - but upgraded? NO. I echo the review by Barbara Z. in Jan 2016 - seems in 4 years the property has remained unattended to since her review. There is no AC (and it got a bit hot indoors) and though they provide box fans (that need cleaning), there are no screens on the windows except in the back bedroom. The heater filter was extremely filthy. Blinds had broken slats & some curtain rods were bent. The wicker "coffee table" was filthy. Under the kitchen sink was major water damage. A toilet seat lid is missing. The master bathroom sink dripped. The toilet paper holder fell off the wall (I put it back on). The BBQ grill was filthy, so we didn't bother - also it is next to the dryer vent so lint is all over it. The only functioning smoke alarm (1 out of 3) was in the back bedroom. [There IS a functioning Carbon Monoxide Detector!] The TVs are out dated; an older Magnavox and a 13" TV/VCR combo. (Notice they don't show you them in any pictures?) Why do they list the amenity of a telephone and FREE local phone calls? There are no telephones in the house - not that we needed them, just showing a pattern here. We found a spider IN THE MASTER BED, and dead flies and spiders on the floor. The washer & dryer are shared - cottage C has a washer & dryer, but it was out of order. So people will be coming in and out doing laundry on your porch. *FAIR WARNING* if you have a low profile vehicle the roads to get there may damage your car. Calle Cita and Russell Way are private roads (streets) and are in desperate need of repaving, or at the very least they could fill in the deep potholes. The worst is actually the one you must take to get to the parking spot, the road is so uneven, deeply pitted with potholes, and the significant incline into the parking spot is proceeded by what is best described as a crater. It is my humble opinion the heavily adjective laden description of the exterior of the cottage, although mostly accurate, is in an attempt to make up for the failings of the interior, where you will not be met with the same impression given by what you read and experience before walking in. My wife and I were forced to sleep in the twin beds in the back bedroom like Ozzie and Harriet because it had window screens and the only functioning smoke alarm ... we booked for 6 nights and left after three.

When we reserved this cottage they advertised Jacuzzi and Barbecue, both of which were not operational. They apparently put the jacuzzi out of order sometime between our reservation and our stay with no alert as to it not operational. Also, advertised barbecue was operational and it was not. Spider webs in barbecue when it was turned on and after 20 minutes of letting the burners do their job. It seems the guts not transferring the heat as turning the knobs up did not raise heat levels. I guess the washer and dryer right outside the back door is community as someone was washing clothes during our stay. Driveway parking spot was nice and property close to town and beach was cool. Talked to Cherise property manager about barbecue not working and was told maybe I didnt know how to use barbecue. We spent over $100 dollars on food, we were not able to cook on broken barbecue. We asked for reimbursement for barbecue food and received no word back. We wont stay here again. This doesn't seem like the proper way to deal with a legitimate complaint. Bummed but karma always comes back to haunt. Good luck.

Aside from the private porch overlooking a lovely garden, the cottage has every amenity one could need. It is well-maintained, & my sister & my daughter & I loved every minute of the 7 days/nights we stayed there. Quiet, close to downtown, at the foothills of S B., it was an idyllic setting. My fiance, Mom, and her boyfriend stayed at the Butterfly Cottage and had a lovely time. The cottage was clean, roomy enough for four people comfortably, and convenient to a lot of restaurants and activities. The hosts were also communicated very well and made everything easy for us. We'd definitely stay here again.

It was a very cute cottage but we had a few issues. 1. The advertised Hot Tub was not functioning. The cottage writeup indicated there was a hot tub - but upon arrival found a note on the refrigerator stating "due to drought the fountain and hot tub are off". This should be removed as an amenity if it is not functioning. 2. Someone entered the property while were away. I came back to find the key holder set to the code. I intentionally left the keys in the holder and reset the code prior to leaving on Saturday morning. 3. Another renter of a related property arrived at 2am was confused as to which cottage was theirs. They proceed to circle our cottage loudly with flash lights - scaring us to death. Someone should have given them clear instructions on the location of their cottage and should have texted us that someone could be arriving late so don't be alarmed. Other than these issues the cottage was cute, clean and well equipped.

Very nice place to stay. Small cottage on a private street. Very private location. Cherise and Timm were very prompt in responding to our questions.
