This house was perfect. My guest and I had a wonderful time. All of the essential items were provided for us and we enjoyed all of the perks.

The house was very nice, clean and appropriate for our group. We initially thought the house would be a bit bigger but it worked out perfectly. The neighborhood was very peaceful, easy to get to and not too far from various shops located within 5-10 miles of the house. The host were communicative and assisted us when needed. Would definitely recommend and visit again if we decide to come back to the area.

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Hawksbill Lodge!! The house was amazing and so big!! It fit our crew of 28 so good! The atmosphere was perfect! A wonderful fire pit, hot tub, game room! The master suite downstairs was too notch!! The kitchen and living area was huge and perfect for our big crew! We throughly enjoyed our stay and we all agreed to book again for next year immediately!!! Thank you so much to the wonderful hosts!!!

We rented the property because it was very near the wedding venue for my daughter. I rented through VRBO & also purchased the additional damage protection. The owner (Misty) insisted I fill out another Lease agreement, with my CC information. She insisted that they would not share the rental information with me until that happened. I made her aware that I purchased the additional protection, and she said that because of that I didn't need to leave additional CC information with her. However, she never asked if I had purchased that protection, she was rude and interruptive as I tried to ask additional questions. While the property was fine for our purposes and we followed the excessive instructions to the letter, I will not be using this property again, and will not recommend it to others. Frankly, she had me very concerned that I might see additional charges, however as of this writing, that hasn’t occurred.

The group enjoyed the cabin. It was very spacious and Randy was an EXCELLENT HOST. Perfect is all that I can say❤️❤️

It's a lovely lodge and ideal for a large group of adults/families. As generally noted in the comments, the fridge is way too small for the size of the lodge. There really does need to be a second fridge. We knew this going in and had coolers and ice packs/ice with us. But this truly should be something that is fixed by the owners so that this stops being the problem it is for so many. What we were not expecting were - a dishwasher that is NOT fixed down to the floor/cabinets and is practically falling over every time you open it. And spilling plates and cutlery everywhere. This is just basic installation! - a stove that had didn't have a range out that vented to the exterior - but to the interior! Part of the whole fun for our gathering was to cook communal meals together. What was NOT fun was to have the entire upper floor then smelling of cooking because the extraction fan was so woefully underpowered AND not vented to the outside. A larger stove to go along with the total occupancy size would also be good. When it can sleep 30 and you're cooking for that party size, and paying for a property this size, having the basic appliances (fridge, stove) that meet the intended use and purpose of the lodge should just be a given. But it's not.

This is a good property for our large family of 20. We loved the kitchen especially the long dining table where we could all sit together to eat. The property does need some upgrading however. Several of the bathrooms need immediate attention. Otherwise we were very happy with the property and would recommend it to others.

We had a delightful family weekend with plenty of room for 13 adults & teenagers. The bedrooms & baths are nicely spaced between areas in the lodge & the great room/kitchen is large enough for all to gather. The wrap around porch is huge and we do recommend bringing soccer chairs if you have a large group. The firepit is perfect for the obligitory s'mores . I

Clean & comfortable with plenty of lawn for play area. Every bedroom is private. Close to Luray and many activities. Randy was very responsive to any questions.

There were 29 of us. Overall, we had a wonderful time. Plenty of space and the firepit was a huge success. The only complaint we had was that for that many people the refrigerator was just a standard house size. we had to keep a lot of the items we brought in coolers and spent a fortune on ice to keep things cold. but that was the ONLY complaint. we all had a wonderful time there.

Cabin was roomy. But for the size of the cabin you would expect a larger refrigerator. Other than the size of refrigerator we enjoyed ourselves. We even went fishing and caught some good size trout and spots. We plan on returning.

It was the perfect house for our yearly reunion

The building was beautiful and was exactly as pictured and described in the listing. It was a unique way to have multiple family members stay together for a wedding weekend in the area.

The house is amazing. So much space for everything. We had 24 adults and 2 babies all had places to sleep. Great views great fire pit. Thank you to the owner and property manager they were great.

We stayed at The Lodge April 11-14, 2022. Grounds and pond very nice!! Totally enjoyed the fishing w family and kids!! The Lodge was not clean. In no way do I believe professional cleaners come when visitors leave. Very dusty furniture, floors, counter tops and window sills. Bathrooms (especially down stairs) had hair in showers and sinks, along with mold on shower curtain bottoms. Several bedspreads had stains on them that would come out if washed. Renters should read fine print carefully to ensure they bring toilet paper, paper products, fire wood and laundry detergent etc, as very little is provided. We didn’t mind paying rates charged for 3 nights, however expected more for that amount of money,…..cleanliness!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time. There was plenty of space for everyone. The pool and hockey tables were a big hit. The kitchen had everything needed to cook for all 25 guests, and everyone fit at the large table. Shenandoah national park was a short drive away.

We rented this for a large family vacation. We are very particular about the places we stay. Places need to be very clean! This place far exceeded our expectations. We had 7 married couples and 15 kids(12 under the age of 6). This property accommodated us perfectly. The bedrooms were large enough to set up pack n plays for babies and still have room to move. We clean noise machines and fans to help the kids sleep since the noise in the lodge seems to echo. We appreciated the space for the kids to run outside. The upper deck was perfect for the kids to run laps and burn off some energy! The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with all the essentials. The fridge was a bit small for the size of our family but since it was cold we kept things in coolers on the deck. The tv/dvd setups weren’t super convenient as we had to switch comp cables from one to the other to use. But it wasn’t a big deal. We would recommend this cabin to our friends and will definitely consider coming back!

The retreat was a great place. But however the rooms needed storage space for your clothes. Also I think the property needs a swimming pool.

The home was immaculate to say the least. We had 22 people in our party. 10 adults and 12 children. The grounds were nice and the owners were available if needed. The only thing was for a party that size the refrigerator was way to small to accommodate all of the food we had.

We were visiting the area for a family reunion/vacation and this property was perfect! The large/open kitchen and living room was perfect for our large group to enjoy meals together. The wrap-around porch was perfect for the children to make laps around the house. The campfire area (with firewood) was a great bonus as the whole family enjoyed s’mores. The parking was plentiful and only steps from the front door (for our older family members). The bedrooms were spaced out enough that the babies could nap while the rest of the children were still playing. There is plenty to do in the area for short day trips. Every member of our family had an enjoyable stay at the property. Thank you!

Since we could t hade homecoming this year, we decided to do a group Halloween trip. This home is so beautiful and huge…. I would recommend it to anyone.

We had a wonderful weekend at this lodge. Plenty of room for everyone. Clean and well equipped with everything we needed!

Everyone, including myself in our group, absolutely loved❤ the house and property. We have all agreed that we would love to return to this property. We did not have any problems!! After staying there, we had wished that we had rented this place for a longer period of time. It was great to find a place for everyone to stay under the same roof.

Wonderful cabin! Space of a hotel but the feel of a cozy cabin.

It seemed even bigger than the pictures online and we didn’t even get a chance to utilize everything we could have because we only did a weekend! We were worried we would be too loud during the quiet hours (we brought karaoke and some pretty loud speakers) but when we were indoors there were no issues! Highly recommend this place!!

Owner communication: We booked this place for a family/friends reunion for March 2020. We had people traveling from overseas and all over the USA. My initial communication from the owner/property manager didn't leave a good feeling. I felt the response was as if they are doing us a favor by renting the place. For a property that is $900K/night, it's no favor by any pov. I didn't act on the hunch and went ahead and booked the place. Then Covid hit and the owner would not even entertain rebooking. Then VRBO came up with a policy to allow rebooking and then finally they agreed. Rebooking was another issue. There was not much flexibility with booking dates. Nevertheless, we booked for December. It came December and the covid numbers were still high and our friends from CA/TN/DC and overseas could not travel. We checked with our family if they can join. One of them had a dog and the owner had a no pets policy. We requested a lot to make an exception, given everything. From what I understand they had a bad experience in the past and they wouldn't make an exception, which I understand. So out of the 6 families originally planned it was just us, one family of 5 people.The lodge: It's beautiful. The rooms are good, the kitchen & hall spacious. The downstairs bathrooms have a jet shower but no shower doors. Shower curtains do not contain water well. We couldn't use these showers at all. The hot tub was nicely heated, but it overlooked a neighboring house. Good thing was that it was not occupied. The hot tub was closer to this house than to the lodge. If you are looking for a completely secluded place, this was not it. Within stone throw distance away, there are houses on both sides of the lodge. Checkout:Kids had the last day of school on our day of checkout and they had a band performance at 11:30 (30 minutes). The owner didn't entertain the request of extending the checkout by an hour, we were checking out a day before Christmas. His reason was that the next day another guest is checking in and he needs all the time between 11:00 am today to 4:00 pm tomorrow for cleaning - reminder this is a 10 room lodge used by one family of 5 people. On average, we have been renting 2-3 vacation homes in a year for the last decade and more. So far this has been the worst experience with the owner. We are planning our reunion as soon as covid is over, even though the lodge size meets our needs, we won't be booking here

The lodge is large, well appointed and situated perfectly on a quiet hill with plenty to do nearby. Randy is a nice as everyone says. We wanted for nothing.

This house was amazing!! My guest and I really enjoyed our weekend getaway.... The only thing that was bit of a bother was the heat in the master bedroom. Randy immediately came and fixed the problem!! Thanks for an awesome experience!
