This is a perfect place for a family gathering. We love the fact that you can walk to town and don't have to worry about downtown parking. We've been here before and it was even better this year with the addition of air conditioners upstairs and in the main room. Jim and Lois are always so helpful!! We've already booked in for next year!!!

We loved our stay at Davis Hill. The house and cottage were perfect for our large family. The kids had lots of room to play and the teens were able to get to downtown easily and safely. The house was equipped with everything we needed. Jim and Lois are excellent hosts.

We were 4 families who wanted to explore Rocky mountains as well spend time together. This was the perfect house. Plenty of space for all of us. Very charming house with Beautiful front porch to enjoy morning coffee. Lots of books to read. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware / utensils / glasses. It was very centrally located to the park. The town was few blocks away with many restaurants to explore. The owners were very courteous and responsive. Would definitely recommend this house

Easy rental process. The property & accommodations were everything & more as what was listed/described on VRBO Our group loved the front porch we enjoyed watching the deer, elk, bunnies, & hummingbirds from this vantage point.

The location of this house is perfect- minutes from RMNP and a short walk to downtown Estes Park. It was perfect for our group of 14- plenty of space for everyone. We really enjoyed the porch. Lois and Jim went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable- helping with a damaged stroller, collecting trash often for our big group, and giving recommendations. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone and hope we can return one day!

What a beautiful home and perfect location! The most comfortable beds! Easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park and within walking distance of restaurants and entertainment. Elk walked around our home! Awesome experience!

We had a wonderful time during our week in Estes Park. The town is very quaint and has a lot of nice shops and restaurants. The Rocky Mountain National Park is very impressive and offers many activities for the nature lover. Plus, it was only a few minutes away! The house was very comfortable and well stocked. The porch it was a great hang out place with it’s comfortable seating areas and magnificent view of the Rocky Mountains.

Our entire family enjoyed the property immensely. The location was great, it was clean and well stocked with essentials.

The house is large enough with multiple rooms and beds. The loft upstairs was great for the younger crowd to gather while the older crowd was downstairs on the main floor. We had extended family from overseas come and it housed 11-13 people well. Jim was welcoming, accommodating, and easy to contact. Would highly recommend this place for family gatherings, smaller (up to 30 people) events, or just having a good group of people to stay in the same house!!

During our delightful 7 days at Davis House, everyone in our group (16 people) enjoyed the calm, well decorated and comfortable historic house, as well as the bonfire area... and the gas fireplace! Coming from out of the country, we found everything we needed, from an air dryer to a variety of spices (we just had to get our food)! All appliances were functional. And what to say about Jim's air compressor he used to help one of our guests' car... we are very grateful for such a kind host. Jim & Lois make this place a home, not just a house. Great place, good location

We stayed at this location last year for a family event and wanted to find a location for a similar get-together again this year. Everyone encouraged me to check to see if this house would be available again. They had such a great experience last summer. For a more long-winded review with details about why you should book this house please see my review from last year (Jim D. August 2017). Some things are worth saying again and here they are... - If you want a location that is convenient to the center of town but still feels apart from the hubub, with beautiful mountain views then you will never do better than this spot. - This is not one of those character-free, all-glass A frames that can be found in the area. Historic in itself, the house is filled with books, photos and mementos that reflect the history of the area. - The building owners treat you like true guests. It is clear that it is important to them that anyone who stays here has the best possible experience. They are quick to respond to requests for help or advice on what do in a day. We could not have felt more welcomed. Finally, a vacation rental such as this is a significant expense for our family and not a choice that we make lightly. We have never regretted a penny spent to stay at this spot. We hope to stay there again.

It's a great house with a lot of room for a family reunion! The house is Colorado chic and has a fantastic porch to watch the sunset. It is close to town and the National Park, making it easy to shop and hike! I would recommend for groups over 7+ to rent the garage apartment for more space and another shower.

We found the house to be exactly what you would expect; a wonderful mountain home with amazing scenery and a cozy atmosphere all in a perfect location. Jim was a wonderful host ready to welcome us and available to support if we needed anything. The accommodations were perfect for the after wedding brunch that we hosted for family and friends as well as becoming the ideal central location for going downtown, swinging on the porch watching the sunset or venturing out on some fabulous hikes. This July (over July 4th), three generations of our family spent a wonderful week in the Historic Davis Hill House in Estes Park. The house is spacious and comfortable! The weather was beautiful and we spent a good part of our time on the huge front porch with an incredible view of the mountains! And while we did see a number of animals, there were no mosquitos!! Jim (Lois was out of town) was very welcoming and made sure that we knew that if there was anything we needed to just contact him. We really appreciated that they were able to supply two pack and plays and that the kitchen was so well stocked because we are a family of cooks. We walked into town many times visiting shops, ice cream stores, breweries, a winery, and even played a game of miniature golf. We also took full advantage of how close the house was to Rocky Mountain National Park and took a number of hikes into the mountains. This was a very memorable vacation; we would definitely go back and highly recommend it to other families.

Great place to stay! In town and very convenient. You will spend all your time on the front porch with the cool weather and fantastic views.

This house has special sentimental value to our family. My wife's parents rented this house 46 years ago and invited us and 3 kids (ages 6, 9, 11) to join them for 3 weeks. This time we rented the house and had our three kids, one spouse and 6 grandkids. It was perfect for our needs. It is within easy walking distance to town, the amusement park area and the river walk. It has easy access to both entrances to Rocky Mountain National Park.. We especially enjoyed the large living room/dining room and the spacious porch with a view of Loing's Peak. It was a very comfortable house to be in for vacation. The house is well equiped for vacation living and there was a great supply of brochures and other information about activities going on in the area. The owners, Lois and Jim Gunlicks, live near by and were very gracious in the care , help and advice they offered. Our group would rate our time there as a 10. Gale & Roger Davis

We had a family reunion with 14 people and there was plenty of room in this historic house. The large living /dining room and porch were great for gathering. The best part was it's close proximity to town, which allowed us to walk rather than search for parking. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and easy to reach.

My family and I had a wonderful time at our stay here, the house was everything we needed. Tons of space, great location and love the historical character of the house. The owners were very accommodating, hope we can make it back soon!

It's hard to know where to begin. This was the best possible choice for our group and, in my opinion, for any group. We were there for a family event and I'm glad to have chosen this spot. To cover the basics, the bedroom/sleeping options were varied enough to accommodate a mixed group of close family, relatives and friends. Beds and bedrooms were comfortable and cozy. The common area was easily large enough to have a large group dinner or to have people lounging about after a day of hiking in the park and/or shopping in town. Since it was a family event the kitchen was heavily used. Every time we looked for a special dish, knife, pot, serving item, gadget or appliance we found it waiting for us. There are some things that set this location apart from other vacation homes... The location is PERFECT. I have stayed in other beautiful places that were perched high on a mountain with commanding views. However, if you want to do anything other than look at the view you have to get in the car and drive down to town and fight traffic and parking. At this house you can step out onto the large front porch and see a truly iconic Rocky Mountain vista featuring Long's Peak while watching elk, deer and hummingbirds nearby. It's hard to believe that it is just a few minutes walk out the back door to the center of town but it's true. Of course, entrances to the park are nearby. This made it very easy for everyone in our group to choose what they wanted to do at any time. The building itself is historic and is decorated with care and a touch of whimsy. This is no sterile, newly constructed addition to the area. It is a historic building filled with character. Everywhere you look you come upon an interesting item from Rocky Mountain and Estes Park history. You'll find old souvenir items, a notebook with historical articles, and other similar things. With all that, the place feels uncluttered and welcoming. The owners did all they could to make us feel welcome and at home. It is clear that they take great pride in this place and have worked to make it as comfortable as possible for guests. And "guests' is the right word to use. We never felt like renters but more like true guests in someone's home. Like good hosts they left us alone to enjoy the space but were quick to help whenever we had needed something or had a question. I look forward to the chance to come back some time.

Don't change anything...you have thought of everything...and was a perfect setup for our large group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. I asked for constructive criticism and/or negative input for all members of our group and no one had a single complaint or suggestion for changing anything. The layout of the house, the large porch with the view of Longs Peak, being so close to downtown and yet with open space around the property giving it that uncrowded feeling, the outdoor fire pit, the kitchen and all of the utensils, dishes, etc., and the large living room / dining room was more than adequate and comfortably furnished for our large group. Ken and Gail were great and very responsive when on the one or two occasions they were called upon. We really appreciated Gail agreeing to take photos of our group. She was very patient while our group leader struggled a little with getting our group arranged for that "perfect" photo on the porch steps. To sum it up, the accommodations were perfect for our large group, we enjoyed sightseeing and short hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park as well as the elk, deer, and a rare black bear sighting on Friday, the Arts and Craft show at the park and a tour of the Stanley Hotel on Saturday. We found the history of the Stanley brothers and the hotel to be well presented and very fascinating. All in all, a great time was had by all and we will definitely be in touch for our next family gathering in Estes Park. We were lucky to have found you.
