Villa Malee is truly a first class Villa. We booked this for my step sons wedding at the Katahani beach resort in Kata and our group consisted of 8 adults and an 8 year boy. The staff were absolutely brilliant and nothing was any bother. The rooms were extremely spacious and the beds were really comfortable. Cleanliness was second to none and everything was spotless. The kitchen was amazing and we found it a real home from home. In fact we were calling it this at the end of each day. You will be hard pushed to find any better cooks in the whole of Kata or Karon than our ladies in the Villa. We ate in most nights and the food was excellent. There was always a fresh supply of bread, milk, butter, snacks each day with everything being replaced as we used it. The cool box beside the pool was also re-filled with beers and mixers daily. Our bill for the 2 weeks for all food, drinks and snacks worked out at approx £70 each which was unbelievable. We would all thoroughly recommend this Villa to anyone wishing to visit Thailand. It makes a wonderful base to explore surrounding towns, visit nearby islands etc. Take the speedboat tour of the islands especially Phi Phi, Monkey and maya and swim or snorkel in the sea. It is fantastic. On arrival at the Villa the staff are all there to greet you and Nok Noi gives you a mobile phone with her number on speed dial. She will arrange any taxis for you and anything else you may need. Taxis are around £2-£4 to Kata but you need to experience the local Tuk Tuk open air taxis. We all would definitely stay at Villa Malee should we return to Thailand. It truly is a heaven on earth. Lynn :-)

We chose Villa Mallee to celebrate our 40th Wedding anniversary so that our daughter and partner would be able to Join us from Australia and so with Son , partner and infant we made a party of 7. Brian was extremely helpful before our arrival in answering all questions and queries promptly and ensuring our requests were dealt with. The villa itself lived up to all of our ideals, it was spacious and each bedroom was of a very high standard. Whilst set back about 1.5 km from Kata Beach it was easy to walk and even easier to arrange taxis which were not expensive. However the biggest plus were the staff, led by Khun Noi who was assisted by Nok Noi and Eaea (not sure of the spelling) and the handyman. All of our meals were prepared by Nok Noi & Eaea and were absolutely superb without exception. Breakfast was served at our convenience and we generally prepared our own lunch but the evening meals which usually consisted of three or four courses chosen by us were just sublime! Without doubt the finest asian cuisine we had ever tasted! After each meal the staff would clear away and wash up, leaving us to relax and enjoy our stay. We had one evening meal out (The boathouse) and one lunch at ViSet. My only criticism of the villa would be the lounge area which would have been a bit cramped if there had been 8 of us but as there was only 6 plus infant it was fine! Building work on a new hotel across the road meant there was some noise but this is only temporary and did not spoil our stay in any way! All in all a fabulous villa with truly exceptional staff made the perfect holiday for us all.

We had a fantastic time at Villa Malee. May, the housekeeper, was friendly and discreet and an excellent cook. We ate only Thai food and May was able to meet the different needs of the family: spicy-not too spicy... you know with kids, but still letting them discover a new world in food. Everything was clean and perfect and we were impressed by the high standard of construction and of design. The children, aged 11, 14 and 17, loved Thailand. Before arriving at the villa, we spent 3 nights in a remote resort on Phi-Phi island, in Balinese-style wooden bungalows which were very beautiful and comfortable but without any mod-con such as TV or any distractions powered by electricity. The bungalows were buried in the jungle yet by the sea, so snorkelling, looking at corals and chasing fish kept the children busy. We particularly enjoyed exploring the corals around Koh Phi Phi Lee and Bamboo Island, which are outstanding, even better than those seen around the Similan Island (so says my brother who went diving there while we were staying at the villa). We spent some time in Phang-Nga where we experienced the real Thailand away from mass tourism. We visited the underground cave underneath Elephant Mountain, a temple in another cave with lots of monkeys, went into the jungle and mingled with ordinary Thais. We ate sometimes in little local restaurants for under 400 Bhat for 5 and also in a fabulous establishment by the river popular with the local elite. Guests arriving in large SUVs are served in discreet booths in bamboo at the foot of a huge cliff, high on stilts on the edge of the water with many beautiful exotic plants. We also visited the marvelous Phang-Nga bay and stayed overnight in Ko Panyi, the fisherman village there, as our guide book recommended. The bay is outstanding but the Muslim village on stilts was for us a painful waste of time. Once cosy now it is a huge tacky souvenir shop and the locals are distinctly unfriendly. If you ever go there, don't take a tour as we did, but try and arrange your own private boat and guide. There is so much to see and enjoy and being rushed around in a group is not nice. We met a Swiss family in Phuket who did just that, and were able to visit all the sites off the beaten track which I saw when I was last there 20 years ago. Our group of 4 hired the villa for a week at the end of a trip to Beijing and Hong Kong so a welcoming, relaxing retreat was what we were looking for and that is exactly what was delivered. Sadly the weather was incredibly bad throughout the duration of the trip but that is in the lap of the Gods. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellent as was the standard of accomodation. I would strongly recommend this villa to anybody contemplating its hire. Thank you to Brian and his staff for providing such a beautiful property to my fiends and I. Emma

From the moment we contacted the owner, everything went exceptionally smoothly. The description of property was very accurate. Exceptionally well maintained. The owner provided excellent communication right up until we left for our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated like Royalty. The housekeeping staff cooked up magnificent meals for us and were more than willing to make sure everything was there for us to have a lovely holiday. The only thing that was a concern was that the tiles around the pool were exceptionally slippery when wet. With a toddler and 5 year old we had to be extremely careful as they had quite a few falls just walking. No problems when dry though and never detracted from the property. The housekeepers seemed to appear and dissapear with no invasion on our privacy. I would have loved to take them home with us. Recommended stay in a very relaxing atmosphere for families. I would definately recommend this property to anyone. We ate our meals at home at night and of course the magnificent breakfasts because why go out when Khun May cooks such fabulous Thail food. We will return.
