Excellent property and location. Proximity to Purgatory resort was ideal. Owner clarity and communication upon final booking was outstanding. Property handbook was very thorough, thoughtful and left us with no question about any amenity down to the smallest detail (this was especially refreshing and welcomed.) 10/10. Definitely recommend Blackjack Lodge and McGregor is a wonderful host.

This house was beautiful and well stocked. Four wheel drive or chains was a requirement. We were able to get up the hill during the day after some snow melted with chains on. We had a great time sledding, skiing and relaxing in the hot tub!

We vacationed over the Christmas break with our extended family… grandparents, parents, and children. This house had the perfect setup for our family. The adults stayed in the upper bedrooms, and the kiddos had more than enough space and activities (pool table, ping pong table, tv) in the basement area to keep them occupied. The living area is spacious, as is the dining table, and easily accommodated our large group. We were all pleasantly surprised by the stocked kitchen, plenty of pots, pans, glasses, spices, paper goods, etc., and the heated flooring made it especially cozy on cold mornings. After a long day of skiing, the hot tub was a welcomed sanctuary to relax and soothe our tired bodies and was a big hit with the little people as well. The view is spectacular from the covered porch and also inside where there are plenty of large windows to soak it all in. The only somewhat problem we encountered, which was our own doing, was not having AWD on one of our three vehicles. The signs stating “AWD or chains needed” is not simply a suggestion. However, after adorning our tires with said chains, we were good to go. I can’t say enough about the beauty and tranquility of this space, and the owner was great as well. He provided an abundance of information about the property and was very responsive to inquiries. We were all sad to leave but vowed to return during the summer to enjoy it again and experience all it has to offer in a different season.

Perfect way to ring in the new year ! Property was beautifully set for up on the mountain nestled in the trees with a breathtaking view.the house had all the amenities needed to stay in and enjoy family time . The town was 20 min away and the mountain 5 . We had a question and the owner was quick to respond . Simply perfect !!

Had a good time. Home was a bit dated and could use some updating - especially downstairs and kitchen and baths! Lots of dangerous ice by garage door! Fire place wasn't closed or covered, making it dangerous for small kids. 1 minute drive to Purgatory - a ski Mtn that needs to groom more/way more than they do!

It worked out for a family of 8 adults. Loved the deck, view and enjoyed the peaceful lake. Went boating, fishing, off roading, hiking and walking. Everything we needed in kitchen.

Lake access! Steep hike, but fun, & the lake is beautiful. Canoe, chairs, and cool water wait for you. Great outdoor adventures just out the front door. Recommend!!

Such a beautiful and special property. Enjoyed spending our family trip here. It had plenty of space for our family of 10. Spacious & comfortable. Being from Denver, our family got to enjoy a different part, of our wonderful state.

Two families of 5 stayed at this house. The house was very spacious and great for 10 people! There was plenty of room and we had fun. The location was less than 5 minutes from Purgatory Ski Resort! Wonderful location for skiing.

This is an outstanding property near Pugatory resort. but secluded. Everything is well provisioned. This includes trackion gravel which we needed to help some vehicles in our group. Recent snow at record levels required attention to the posted signs for all wheel or 4 wheel drive. I highly recommend this retreat home.

As always, we had an amazing stay. This is our third year coming here and hope to continue coming back each year. The views are stunning. This year, we came in during a snow storm so we saw much more snow than in previous years. We had previously driven my CX-9 and put snow chains on to get up the mountain but there’s no way we would have made it up this year if we were in my car. Thankfully my husband bought a truck so it was much, much easier getting up the roads to the house in his 4WD. If you have kids, the whole bottom level of the house is pretty much theirs so that’s a huge plus for them. They have a TV to play games on, ping pong table, bunk beds and bathroom with a shower. They had a blast going down some hills around the house with the snow sleds provided. We had some questions for the owner regarding the house and he was very helpful and quick to respond. We would love to continue coming back each year!

This property was fantastic for us. I was pleasantly surprised with the proximity to purgatory resort. Ski area is about 30 seconds from the neighborhood entry. Loved the open layout with kitchen, living and dining rooms all in one area. Also has one of the better entertainment rooms I have seen in a rental. VERY large downstairs area with pool table, tennis table, gaming area and bunk room. View off the large back deck is enviable. To top it all off, easiest to contact owner I have ever done business with. We shall return.

Our family and friends had a fantastic time! There was ample amount of room to spread out and something for everyone to do. 46" of snow fell the week we were there so we were snowed in a day but the snow plow guy was great and made sure we could get in and out. Owner was fast to respond to any of our needs or concerns. Definitely would recommend to anyone that wants to stay close to the ski resort just make sure you have 4 wheel drive if going during snow fall.

This was an amazing trip!! There was so much snow, but for this texas girl, it was like a winter wonderland. The house had everything. So spacious!! We could have had more family join us! Went skiiing one day and snowshoeing another. Rented from a shop just across the highway. We will definitely be back!!

The views from the house are incredible…the pictures do not do it justice! We caught a few trout on the lake and enjoyed playing ping pong and pool in the downstairs game room. We even spotted a few deer on the property! We had a wonderful time!

Our family of 8 enjoyed our stay at BlackJack Lodge. We visited Durango, Silverton, Telluride and Mesa Verde. We white water rafted the Animas river and enjoyed sunrise and sunset from deck and hot tub.

Great place to stay. Plenty of amenities. House is well kept. Great views. Master bed is so comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Plenty of room for all eight of us. Enough space to spread out and get individual quiet time and plenty of amenities in the home to do together.

Great location for ski trip. Amazing views. Very comfortable accommodations. Well stocked kitchen. Super fun basement area for multiple teens. Friendly and available host. Welcomed our dog. Couldn’t ask for anything more except a return trip in the future.

This home was a great fit for our group of friends for our annual ski trip. Quick access to the ski area, great views, and the home size did not disappoint though the stairs did hurt to climb after getting sore on the mountain. 4WD or AWD is required to get to the home but there was ample parking once climbing the hill. Property management was easy to talk to and responsive and photos are accurate depiction. Quiet location and we wish we would have booked more days! Cons: the previous tenants left full trash cans in the garage which we had to take to the dumpster, toilet paper quality was poor and remember to bring your own soaps, paper towels, cleaning supplies &trash bags!

This is our second year staying at Blackjack Lodge in the winter. The view and location is absolutely amazing. The house was wonderful. Great for kids as they have the whole lower level to themselves. The hot tub is a bonus with a great view of Purgatory Lake. The lodge is only a mile down the road from Purgatory Resort. My family had a wonderful time here and we hope to continue come back every year!
