Two days prior to our trip, I was notified that due to the unprecedented weather this year, snow was covering the jacuzzi and they could not find someone to clear the jacuzzi and something to the extent that it was expensive to do so. We were offered a full refund to cancel, but by that point we were committed to ski lessons and there were few other options. So I asked if we could clear it ourselves and was told yes. Stay tuned… When we arrived to the house, the entire staircase to the front door was piled high with snow. We had to literally climb in full snow gear to get to the door, it was a very frustrating welcome to the weekend. That night, the power went out. Not the owner’s fault, but like other places we have stayed at, there should have been clear instructions as to where we could find flashlights and candles as part of the check in info. Especially with the unprecedented weather this season. Now back to the jacuzzi. My husband spent an hour digging a path and clearing the snow from the top, only to find that it had been turned off and was ice cold! Even turning it on the minute we arrived would not have been adequate to heat and use. Again, this is something that should have been tended to if you advertise a jacuzzi as part of the rental. Especially after I asked if we could clear and use. You can get better rentals for less expensive in the neighborhood. This place needs a local property manager. I would not stay here again.

We got hit with a massive storm while we staying. The host was very responsive and took care of us. The cabin was very comfortable.

The house, location, neighborhood, everything was great. The house is set up very comfortable, we didn't need anything, or feel anything was missing. I would definitely stay here again. A few notes for the owner, The hot tub did not work. Some house cleaning issues like lots of hair in the downstairs bathtub. Some raw bacon was left out, probably just forgot to throw away. The WiFi needed frequent power cycles to keep working, this was a work-vacation.

We really enjoyed our time at the Golden Retreater! My family stays in Tahoe for a week every summer at this was one of our best experiences. Tzvia was incredibly accommodating and responsive. We hope to be back soon!

The cabin was great. The location was peaceful and quiet even though we were there for the 4th of July weekend. The microwave wasn't working when we first arrived. I messaged the owner and a new one was sent over. Great place to stay!

The owners were friendly and informative, and the house was very clean and well-stocked. Access to the Tahoe Donner club amenities (for a fee) was an added bonus. Easy check-in/check-out and everything in working order. Overall wonderful experience!

Great stay close to downtown Truckee and skiing. We appreciated the fully appointed kitchen, wood burning fireplace, and hot top.

The cabin was everything we were expecting. The amenities were great and we had everything needed to have a good taco night. The cabin is also full of games and books to pass the time and enjoy. The hot tub was a little low and didn't seem to have been cleaned recently, which was the only downside. We decided not to go in as a result.

The property has SO many amenities - everything you could ever want for a weekend getaway, including a fully stocked (with kitchen supplies) kitchen. Would definitely recommend.

Overall great stay! The house is close to DT Truckee, ski resorts and other close attractions. If you have pets, this is a great choice bc very dog friendly. Thanks for having us!

My main worry when we stay in someone else's home is whether my husband's asthma will be brought on by perfumes, especially in the bedding. I was very happy that he had no trouble breathing at all. The place was very clean. I was delighted at how well the kitchen was stocked. Just bring fresh meats and produce, and you can make just about any meal. Lots of Asian seasonings. And several ways to make coffee! Our mini Aussie loved the large area in the back between the houses, which were mostly empty. Turns out she's a snow dog! The beds are very comfy., but the bedrooms are small. You couldn't squeeze in a portacrib., but there are plenty of places besides the bedrooms for older kids. As the description stated, the living room is very sunny. The bad part of that is the bright sun shining in your face, and don't plan to watch TV until after the sun goes down. Overall, the place is great, and I would recommend it.

We had a lovely time at this Tahoe Donner cabin. The location was great, not too far back in Tahoe Donner. There was plenty of space for my family of 5 and we liked the layout with two bedrooms upstairs and one down. The beds were a bit on the smaller side but comfortable. This is a pet friendly place, just as an fyi, and clearly one the owners use frequently. We loved being outside in the hot tub after a day skiing—so pretty with the snow all around. Owners were very responsive and friendly when we had a small issue due to a storm—overall a wonderful stay.

Our stay was pretty good overall. We enjoyed the comfort of the home and the proximity to ski resorts as well as the jacuzzi. Everything was clean and we had plenty of things to do at the cabin. Only thing is that the cabin is a bit older and hasn’t had much updates done to it so there seems to be some deferred maintenance. Overall, we would recommend if you just need a comfortable place to stay in the mountains.

This house is in a great location, and very pet friendly! The hot tub is a major plus and the house is very cozy. Love the wood burning stove in the living room! Unfortunately, the kitchen was a very cluttered and cookware was dirty. It was hard to find things in the kitchen, and keys weren't labeled either. Living room also felt a bit cluttered with fake flowers, but the view was pretty. A bit of a cleaning/decluttering and this place would be five stars!

We had a wonderful time spending a long weekend here. The house is huge, much larger than we needed for the two of us. We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace, cooking in the kitchen and relaxing in the hot tub.

We chose to go on a small family getaway & first of all, the place is huge for a family of 4, but also felt like such an open layout that no matter what part of the house we were in we felt close by. Location is perfect, such a quiet atmosphere & the spa is perfectly located in the back away from any sun so you can enjoy it both during the day & evening without worrying about a sun burn! Thank you once again for allowing us to stay!

We rented this home to spend some time with our kids and their grandparents after not being able to be together during 2020 and the first part of 2021 due to COVID. We had 4 adults and two teenagers plus two dogs for this trip. The cabin is perfect with a lot of space to spread out and the upstairs was a great place for the teens to retreat to when they needed a break from all the family interactions. We spent a lot of time on the front deck, which was a great size and had nice comfortable furniture. The back deck is great too also with comfortable furniture and a hot tub. The wooded back yard was wonderful and just what we wanted for seclusion and spending some time "in nature." The spacing is great between the homes and it really felt like we were alone instead of being on top of another house. The dogs had a great time chasing balls and smelling and exploring everything. The thing that surprised me the most about this home was that everything we needed was there. Sometimes you rent a VRBO and you are provided with only one roll of toilet paper, two towels, one dishwashing pod, etc. This home is very very very well stocked. I've never seen so many towels in my life. Plenty of extra blankets, pillows, etc. Full container of dishwashing pods and dish soap. Shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms. Spices, olive oil, etc - everything you need and more. Fully stocked kitchen - and not cheap flimsy pots and pans either. It truly felt like we were in someone's well cared for home, not a "vacation rental." We would definitely rent this home again. The only thing I would say was an issue was the stairs - and it's my fault because it's something I didn't think about at the time of booking - but my father in law has recently developed breathing problems and the stairs plus the altitude caused him a bit of trouble. So if you are renting and have a similar issue just be aware that the main cabin floor is reached via a set of stairs (like many cabins in the area).

My family enjoyed staying at this place. There were amazing restaurants nearby , downtown Truckee is beautiful. Easy access to Tahoe from here. I would highly recommend..
