Just as advertised. Quiet, (well, there were the Coquí serenades each evening) secluded retreat to nature while having just about anything you can possibly need to stay at Volcano NP. The binoculars and flashlights were an unexpected treat for our nighttime treks to the park for lava viewing. When I say well stocked, I don't think I could have asked for something that wasn't already conveniently stashed somewhere in the unit. This was the first time we stayed on that side of the island and noticed on arrival there were 2 fireplaces but no A/C, prompting a bit of panic at first. That was until evening rolled around and we realized why! Who needs A/C when the temp is in the 60s? Everything about this place is exactly what you would want for an adult get-a-way! Highly recommended.

We loved our stay at the Volcano Mist Cottage. It was the perfect place near the volcano park. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor shower after hiking all day!

Such an amazing house. Very private and gorgeous setting. House was clean and fully stocked. The outdoor shower was magical with the sun shining down. Loved the hot tub in the evening as well. Quick trip to gorgeous black sand beach and Kileauau. Recommend this property to anyone staying in the area!!!

Very convenient place to stay for the volcano park, feels like you are in the jungle.

This place was truly amazing- my husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon! It was the perfect jumping off point to explore Volcano and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and an even better place to come home to after a long day of hiking… especially with the romantic and calming hot tub. We had the best time and 10/10 would recommend to others!

The descriptions and photos do not do it justice. Volcano mist is a wonderful location replete with tranquility, peace, and comfort. It was very clean and had any amenities one would want. If ever on the Big Island, this is a must see and experience location. Mahalo nui!

It came with everything one could need, and more. It was everything promised and more. The hosts have thought of everything. I was surprised at their attention to detail at every turn. They provided items for my first breakfast, a washer and dryer and laundry soap, every possible kitchen implement, a cooler, backpack, yoga mat, beautiful appliances, information about the area, a book about the history of this special property, beautiful linens. There are indoor and outdoor spaces in which to relax and enjoy the beauty of this nurturing and healing spot.

Where do I even begin. This cottage is nothing but magical. My husband and I were blown away by the beauty of this perfect stay. Janet and Paul were delightful hosts and showered us with fresh fruit, homemade sweets, and such thoughtful gifts to celebrate our anniversary. This cottage has everything and the location is so close to the Volcano National Park. I mean, it’s right in the back yard! How much closer can you get?! The hot tub was SO awesome to soak in after hiking and so nice because it’s gets chilly at night. Who knew it could be chilly in Hawaii?! Thank you Janet and Paul for your wonderful hospitality and your beautiful cottage you built from scratch. You made our trip! Mahalo!!

This home was so amazing! I wish we could have spent an entire week there. It's at the end of a rustic road and the photos simply don't do it enough justice. You can't see any other homes from the property and I believe it butts up to the National Park. We loved sitting outside under the covered porch listening to the misty rain. The private jacuzzi is in amazing condition and impeccably clean! It's under a great gazebo which has shades should you want to close it in for more privacy. However, since it's surrounded by jungle, it's already incredibly private. We enjoyed soaking in it each night after a day of adventures. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the entire home has huge windows throughout. We loved falling asleep with the windows open listening to the 'jungle' sounds. The kitchen was very nice and had everything we needed. We will definitely be booking this home again if we make it back to the Big Island.

The place overall was very nice and everything I wanted. . The outside shower was great and the washer and dryer were way better than expected. A few things to look into for the owner would be a slow bathroom sink drain. The lights on the chandelier over the spa were burnt out and not bright enough and no dishwasher was disappointing. Check in took longer because I wasn't told the code for the lock ahead of time.

We had an incredible stay at Volcano Mist Cottage. From the fresh fruit, to the outdoor shower and hot tub, to the indoor fireplace, we had the most relaxing couple of nights here. The perfect way to end our honeymoon!

Very well done. Beautiful connection with nature. Be aware that is rains A LOT especially in March. Also - cottage is perfect for 2 people but no more.

I have stayed throughout Hawaii and this was the very best. If you are looking for an extremely private and secluded location in a peaceful setting, this is truly the right accommodations for you. The outdoor hot tub and shower were a great touch and made the stay truly perfect. The cottage itself was just right for two people and was well stocked with nice finishes. I would without reservation recommend this rental. The price is on the higher side for a VRBO rental but it was truly worth it and a deal compared to hotels where you don't have the same level of privacy. I have stayed in Volcano a number of times and it is a perfect town to start my vacation and relax and I typically finish my trip at the Four Seasons. This rental is at the same level if not higher than a Four Seasons stay For the value and the experience I would not skip visiting Volcano nor this cottage.
