Janet's place is just lovely. This is a peaceful oasis close to downtown. We almost never moved our truck. Walked everywhere. We left our e-bikes in her garden and never even locked them up. Very safe area. This VERBO is beautifully funky down to the chickens visiting for their daily blueberry treats. Janis supplies fresh eggs on arrivial and is gracious with any help you need. We will stay again. Thank you for everything Janet.

The location of Janet's property is fantastic, you can walk anywhere. Only a mile and a half from beaches in a few directions. The property is full of beautiful plants and nice touches that make this place a better option than a hotel. Janet was a great host and was very responsive with any request. Nice touches in my room when i checked in too. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend her to other travelers.

In the evening we felt like arriving at home. Janet is a very nice person and one of the few owners who really cares for the place and the guests.

I recently stayed in this lovely cottage & can say without a doubt, I will be returning! From the moment I walked down the path through the gardens & entered into what would become my home away from home, I fell in love! The place itself is charming with it's eclectic & 'shabby chic' decor. It was so clean and well-appointed with every possible thing a person could ever need (including it's own umbrella!) Janet, the hostess, is just amazing and what I would soon learn, one of the most kind & thoughtful persons on the planet! She has the biggest heart and does everything in her power to make your stay a delight, including (as other guests have pointed out) yummy things to get you started like homemade granola or fresh eggs & bacon, flowers, wine.... again it exceeded all expectations! I am definitely coming back! Thank you Janet! ❣️

I would’ve been happy to write an outstanding review besides the fact that the host is a thief and a liar. Due to unseen circumstances I had to cut my stay short by almost 2 1/2 weeks. The host looked me in the eye and told me she would refund the money to me By breaking it down to a weekly rate! she specifically Said to my face and told me that because of the circumstances she would be happy to refund the money, even though that was not standard procedure.... I asked her four times, are you sure? I asked her many more times are you sure? and she replied yes, if you write your information down then I will send you an envelope in the mail... It has now been over a month and I have received absolutely NO REFUND!!! I havent even received a letter from her, and she specifically told me to write my phone number, my name, my address, and all my information Down on a piece of paper on the table... If this lady did not lie right to my face and specifically tell me she was going to give me a refund due to the circumstances then like I said before I would have no problem better reviewing, but for any future guest staying there be aware that this lady does not stay true to her word! She comes off as a nice lady just to steal peoples hard earned money... you need an ETHICS CLASS!!! Good luck in the future by treating your guest like this. A very unhappy tenant!

Janet is a wonderful, kind, and caring host. My room was stocked with fresh eggs from the chickens who live on the property. The apartment is charmingly and comfortably furnished. The location is ideal. Even though it is close to the freeway, it was very quiet. It is walking distance to downtown and shops on State Street. I am definitely going to return.

My husband and I stayed in the cottage in December 2017 and we loved it. Quintessential Santa Barbara with an amazing patio with lights in the trees. Perfect for coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening. The cottage is located walking distance to the restaurants and shops on State St. Janet is the perfect hostess-we had fresh eggs, fresh flowers, well equipped kitchen and she has quite a bit of art that really makes the cottage special. We hope to return someday.

Janet was very welcoming and helpful as needed. We enjoyed a generous breakfast in the cottage, fresh coffee, tea, and everything we needed to feel cared for. It was a great retreat with a lot of greenery and tranquil vibes.

I loved staying at Rose Mary Cottage. It is small but it has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Janet has thought of everything to make you happy and will provide your first breakfast with farm fresh eggs (delicious)and bacon or anything else you may desire. There will be blankets if you are cold and a ceiling fan if you are warm. The cottage is surrounded by trees and you can see the birds and hear them sing, the trees give wonderful shade. Two or three blocks will take you to State St. and many restaurants and bars, stores, concerts, whatever you like. If you wish you can make a meal or two in the well appointed kitchen which includes a dishwasher. She is a gracious and helpful lady and I have nothing but good memories of my stay there.

Rose Mary Cottage was perfect! The smell of the honeysuckle outside the bathroom window was heavenly! Absolutely no complaints! We can't wait to come back!

This was a delightful and unique cottage. There was a garden bistro area to drink wine which Janet so generously provided along with eating our bagel with salmon and cream cheese for breakfast. The cottage was clean and had everything needed for a visit to Santa Barbara. I don't think I have ever slept as well with the fresh air, sound of water and scent from the flowers. It was very quiet. Santa Barbara was fun to visit-State Street and the wharf were enjoyable along with the general atmosphere of the town. We would recommend this to any and everyone!

I found her place by reading the reviews but the reviews don't do it justice... This place is beyond amazing! The smell of flowers around you and Janet's hospitality are hard to match. I came with my boyfriend for his birthday and while sitting outside our cottage he asked me to marry him! Janet was so excited to hear the news, it was like telling family! My fiancé and I told her this place left a memory and we will be back! I'm recommending her place to all my friends it was amazing and made the weekend perfect!

We have returned to the Big Island after our month long stay on this enchanting property. The special touches that Janet provided upon arrival and throughout our stay has been like none other. Janet's attention to detail and thoughtfulness is reflecteded throughout the property. We live in paradise but this property was truly a home away from home.

My husband and me and our dog Coco had a great time! Janet was a wonderful host and the cottage was very comfortable and clean. We loved the location too, it was close to the freeway, mountains, and the beach.

Thanks so much to Janet for another wonderful stay at the Mary Rose Cottage. Everything you need is provided including fresh laid eggs from Janet's resident chickens. Having a complete kitchen makes the visit even better. The cottage has everything you need to make your stay effortless. It is located close to mid-State street with many restaurants and other destinations. Especially enjoy the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. The cafe there has great lunch items and the gift shop is also worth a visit. Quiet and peaceful with nice neighbors. Janet is a very thoughtful and wonderful hostess.

The cottage could easily be featured in a design magazine..the decor is tasteful, colorful and a feast for the eyes. Janet has thought of everything: FREE bikes, water bottles at the bedside, a bottle of wine, discount tabs for all the local stores and fresh eggs from her chickens (which by the way, you do not even know they are on the property). Our first night, we had trouble with the grill and Janet had it fixed in 20 minutes. I am not one for the beach, so the convenience of the beach being so close enabled my husband to go enjoy while I stayed behind reading a book. All sight-seeing is within a short bike or taxi ride. Would highly recommend and would definately go back...eager to see how the other cottages are decorated. The only thing to be aware of is the alternate side of the street parking, which Janet has also done a great job in displaying a warning sign on the fridge....Santa Barbara police like to give tickets.

This is right out of a magazine, it is the cottage you would build yourself if you had the talent. Janet even provides eggs from her own hens! Bacon, bread and beverage were also waiting for us, in our own refrigerator, in our adorable fully equipped kitchen. It doesn't get better than this, we would stay a week or more next time. So much to do in downtown, which is a short walk, but you feel like you are in the countryside of France when you enter the gated compound. Can't say enough, book it or miss out on a little paradise in the city. Beautiful beach and wharf is a five minute drive and every kind of restaurant and shop on State St. that you could ever want. We have the BEST time staying at the Rose Mary Cottage and plan to stay there every time we are in the area. The location is perfect and the grounds and cottage are so beautiful! It was so great that we didn't want to leave, even though Santa Barbara has so much to offer. Janet is such a kind and considerate host and she provides so many extra little touches. She went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special!

Stayed here for a few days while attending a wedding in town. The location was great: a short walk to State St., but still quiet and relaxed. Room was very well-equipped and comfortable, and actually a bit more spacious than I was expecting from photos. Janet was very nice and went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay, which we did. Highly recommend.

Rosemary cottage ticks all the boxes. It is in a great location and very comfortable! The place has all the little final touches that make the stay that much more pleasurable. It is the perfect getaway that everyone should come take advantage of in beautiful Santa Barabara.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Janet's Mary Rose Cottage. Janet made us feel right at home with special treats (home-laid eggs) and solitude. It was very quiet and peaceful. With the kitchen, we were able to prepare meals and save money. Sitting out on the patio drinking coffee, watching the chickens scurrying around, made a great start to my day! We couldn't have found a better place to stay. I would highly recommend Janet's rentals to anyone traveling to Santa Barbara. When I return to the area, I will check to see if the cottage is available. *****Five Stars*****

There's really not much to say which hasn't been said in the other reviews, except that the other reviews are all true. I've stayed in several VRBO's in the SB area, but this was by far the best experience. The cottage is suitable for either a weekend or longer-term use. Despite the small size it makes great use of space, and along with the outside area it's pleasant for 2 people for an extended stay. Janet, the host, is perfect; very friendly, but not obtrusive. The cottage is surprisingly quiet, but centrally located. You can stay here without a car with no problem. The services on upper state are easily accessible, as well as downtown. Searching for negatives, the only thing I can come up with is that I'm not there right now, and that staying there for an extended period will make you consider uprooting yourself and moving to the Central Coast.

Our first experience withVRBO. Could not have been better. Janet is a wonderful host. The cottage was superlative, so much fun and a feast for the eyes. Our first time in Santa Barbara, and we loved the neighborhood where we stayed. Would definitely stay here again.
